Superman Returns LOOK UP IN THE SKY: THE AMAZING STORY OF SUPERMAN doc trailer

Just give it time...the 1st wave of DVD players were around a grand also.

And remember the days when VHS cost like $80-$100? I don't...I was only like 3. =P

I just hope that Superman Returns will also be available on a standard DVD format...

It will be DVD still has another 20 Years or so before that fades away & that will only get CHEAPER as the new stuff comes out

when I say standard format, that doesn't mean i only want the movie... I would like to see the movie as well as commentaries, featurettes, deleted/alternate scenes, the making of featurette...

they can still have those things on standard DVD format.

I uess I'm just worried that they'll release the movie with nothing special on it on the standard format, and release another with everything on it, but you have to have either the bluray or HD DVD player to see it.

I got a first wave player for $300 back in the 9-7.

yeah the blueray will probably be regular dvd price once everyone has one. having sr come out on that is dumb. i guess they don't want to make money cause like 2 people have it.

Foreals? I was always the assumption it was much more expensive than that when it came out in 97', considering DVDs was new technology and all...

Of course it will. Standard DVD is still...well standard. You are not going to see less DVD releases for a very long time. Alot of people JUST got into DVDs -- heck, I still have people asking me if we still sell VHS :o, so they're not going to upgrade again so soon for a level of quality they don't care about really.

We'll see an amazing DVD release of SR.

no, I didn't... I paid for mine.

But I am not gonna pay no ****in $1000 for a stupid DVD player.
Then don't. If the special features are only going to be on Blu-Ray (which I doubt), then you'll have to cough up the money to buy it if you really want it. The same thing happened with DVD's when they first came out. They had the special features that Laserdiscs did not and VHS certainly didn't. I had to cough up the money to buy it if I really wanted.

Either way, if Blu-Ray or HD-DVD catch on (which I highly doubt) but IF they do, eventually standard DVD's will start to lose features and later, go obsolete altogether. Such is the way of multimedia. No one ever said it was fair.

no DVD player should EVER cost $1000...

there's no other word for it, but it's just plain FUBAR.

whats the point? why not just stick what everyelse already has ratherthen having to rebuy everything?

I would absolutly love to do that, but the way technology is avdancing these days, that's no longer an option

Oh I agree. However, I also know how technology works when it first comes out. We can all complain about it all we want but that's what happens. And then eventually the prices drop.

Got my dvd of this yesterday.

:D

no new footage.. what was shown is what you get.

But the A&E presentation was edited? There's supposed to be like an extra 20 min on the DVD?

I spent about $420.00 on our first DVD player in 1998, which was also a DIVX player as well. But around 1996, they were around $800 for the system.

I should have been more clear..the returns footage is exactly what was shown.

My Panasonic was $400 open box, and it has karaoke on it which I never ever used. This was about '98 as well I believe. I've since upgraded to a Sony for about $70 that of course blows the Panasonic out of the water.

But my Panasonic still works and has been relegated to bedroom TV duty.

can anyone upload the show onto the net? i can't watch it on the AOL In2TV because i'm in australia...blah

You dont have to rebuy anything; Blu Ray players are compatible with DVDs as well. Basically, the Blu Ray player will be just as much of an upgrade as VHS to DVD. Most people didn't rebuy those old VHS tapes on DVD format for many years.

Just in case anyone wanted to know, The Amazing Story of Superman is running tonight on A&E at 1pm E/12 pm C. I missed most of it last time but plan to burn it tonight! :)

This is great animation, but feels a bit odd when seen in the current perception of Superman... The look and feel is clearly inspired by German expressionism and it´s actually kinda dark, lotsa shadows and stuff like that. But the rotoscopic movement, painting-like feel of the colors and angles are amazing.

hmm, id agree that some of the lighting reflects a german expressionist style although the narrative is far from it, also nothing really is distorted and out of shape
