Great as the film looks (and it really does), I think I like JGL's make-up less and less each time I look at it. It's just distracting. I like what he's doing with his voice, though.

I wasn't wowed by the trailer but it looks odd and intriguing.

Very impressed with Gordon-Levitt's voice work in the teaser; he barely sounded recognizable. I think that with the performance will sell the look. People need to realize that he's not supposed to look like Bruce Willis.

then why bother with the make up/prosthetic?

Because he's playing the younger version of Willis' character. Not Willis himself or even Willis as a young man, but Willis' character as a young man. That's the distinction.

I don't have a problem with him not looking like a young Willis.

I have a problem with him not looking human.

the problem there is willis looks the same in every movie and every day life lol

The second teaser teaser :funny: explains this.

I'm still iffy on the make-up, but everything else looks cool.

I think the make up looks great, can't even really tell he's wearing any. The voice caught me off guard at first but I like it. The action looks good and the story/concept is pretty interesting.

The makeup makes JGL look like a Doll in some shots.. It's the eyebrows.

It was a cool trailer though, I'm excited for it.

The eyebrows are the first thing I look at whenever I see his face.

Part of it I think is that JGL has some pretty distinct looks as it is, so distorting it just make him look really weird.

Also while the makeup work itself is fine, I think problems may have arisen with how it showed up on film or in digital with the lighting and everything.

I'm thinking back to some of the production blogs for the Hobbit where they went into the challenges of making the prosthetics look good in digital.

Also, pretty sure they did some make up work on Willis as well.

Edit: you guys are right, in the scene where Willis first appears in JGL's time, JGL's eyebrows are weird as hell!

The trailer didn't really do anything for me. It's weird because I was looking forward to seeing more of this movie but it just didn't hook me at all.

This trailer looked great on the big screen. The script was interesting, albeit a tad slow on the page - throw in these crazy visuals? Looking at a really interesting film.

Yeah it wasn't as compelling as it should be though I'm sure the film will be great! I think it should had more scenes with Willis and the other Loopers. Also I read that the future-future (Willis' time) has an interesting look which should of been hinted. Long live Rian!

Johnson isnt like Bay,Liebsman,.....

he has his own style. he is not using slow motion, lens flares every 5 minutes. plus they made it very clear that showing to much would spoil the movie. so it was hard to cut a trailer for the masses. IMO Lopper can not make a big profit. its a movie where a smart guy gets enough money to make a smart movie with an unique vision. cgi is cheap enough so that they use small parts to make it look like the future.

about his own style. just look how it looks when they come from the future. no special effects. no dust, glow, explosions, big cratters. it just a simple copy/paste effect. now its empty and one frame later Bruce Willis is there. boom. he is using the less is more approach. why? because to make the movie he wanted to make he needed to make it as cheap as possible and as simple as possible. the movie got a lot praise last year when some watched an unfinished cut.

Yeah Rian is a great director. I'm a fan of his other movies so I'm still really interested in Looper.

The trailer itself could have been better with if he had added some of the aspects you mentioned but I'm still pretty sure Rian whipped up something pretty great. The cast is really good too.

I'm not sure what's up with the weird hair and eyebrows in some of the other shots, but in these, I can absolutely buy both of them playing the same character at different ages.

I think this looks awesome. I love the concept of having to kill your future self, and what conflict and characterisation potential that brings.
