Batman Begins Lost Scenes :(

Well if Fox made this movie you know for certain they'd release another DVD version of Begins or maybe two

Sadly.......yes. Yes I would.

My question is though....besides commentary and like 2 or 3 delted little scenes.....what else can they give us to proclaim SPECIAL EDITION?

There's barely even 2 or 3 scenes.

Commentary is the only thing worth getting it for. And I won't spend $30 for a SE that includes commentary.

Maybe Nolan just doesn't like doing commentary anymore like Steven Spielberg.

Nah, Nolan is doing commentary.

I just don't know what else WB can pull out for a Special Edition.

I thought the DE was a little on the eh side. It was good...but I still thought it was a little on the eh side.

Exactly.......I'm wondering if WB has some kind of AREA 51 filled with Batman Begins material that they'll put on the SE........they've gotta, b/c there were alot of extras on the Deluxe Edition.

I heard a rumor a long time ago that they did variations of the costume, experimenting with the "non-rubber suit" or something to that extent, and even tried it out with a dark blue cowl or something. I don't remember where I heard it, but it could be interesting to see. I doubt that they would include it though.

The Begins DVD was not very meaty at all. While the extras were more than "fluff", they were only moderately in depth. Yeah, there was about 2 hours of documentary (or less?)... but it just wasn't particularly... heavy.

So there could be a MUCH better, more exhaustive documentary (think the Alien Quadriligy doccos, Kronenberg's The Fly, Peter jackson's movies (Kong, LOTR, Frighteners). Plus tonnes of stills galleries showing us EVERYTHING, including all the design work that didn't make it.

And while I don't think there would be a "deleted scenes" gallery there could be some "deleted shots", plus test footage for costumes, actors auditions etc. And a commentary or 2 of course.

To say there's not a lot they could put on a new DVD except a commentary is quite incorrect.

Yeah, you're correct. There are still lots of things unseen that could make enough material for a new DVD release.
And, damn, I would buy it in a wink, specially for the actors auditions' part.
And "stage 2" Scarecrow shots.

My thing is that what they put on the DVD wasn't exactly alot.....but, it was probably enough. So......with keeping those things out of the next DVD....It'll be tough, BEYOND deleted scenes, test footage (which we kinda saw in the extras), auditions, commentary......and the picture stills (although we got a good one on the DE) That doesn't sound like a justifiable SPECIAL EDITION to me. I'm figuring they'll have to add a TON of documentary stuff, and they would probably re-use what they put on the DE....which blows, if you ask me.

There's enough for another DVD.......i just wonder if there's enough for an actual SE.

The things with the documentaries is that really they were just one edited into many. Frankly to me the best extra on the whole thing was the poster concepts. The other documentaries were just thinned out to make it seem more.

There is enough left of material from production and post-production to make another DVD, to which I surely would buy a copy or two of.

As for deleted scenes, the only ones that I absolutely wish were kept...would be
*Rachel looking at Batman in the batmobile while on fear gas, and seeing 'bat out of hell' again.*
*Stage 2 Scarecrow scene*

I also wished they cut out the scene with the bumbling fool from Wayne Enterprises explaining to Earl that the microwave emitter had been stolen. They could've skipped that, left those other two scenes in. Because the explanation for the stolen microwave emitter could've come from when Earle visit Fox at Applied Sciences, and fires him for asking too many questions.

Not according to Nolan. He said the movie we saw is exactly what he wanted. It's exactly what he envisioned, and anything that was filmed then cut was done so by him because he himself thought it didn't work for the movie. Perhaps it didnt pace well with the rest of the film, or just didn't fit with the theme, but whatever reason, it was his choice, no one elses.

Maybe the scene looked cheesy when Nolan viewed it.

The editor doesn't cut scenes w/out the director's approval.

Not always true. And I'm not even counting Fox in that statement.

It's practically a certainty that the studio edited it.

Thing is, some directors film stuff.....and might not give edits enough chance to change.

There were things cut.......ya just know WB is planning to cash in on it with the SE.

Director's Cut? That's reaching waaaayyyyy too far. That would imply atleast an extension or different ending or something major.....which I doubt. Just a few scenes here and there that are gone. That's all.

Uhh, that's nonsense. Nolan confirmed the film is cut exactly the way he wanted and WB was completely supportive and made sure he was allowed to do anything he wanted.

Nolan also confirmed that there will be no other editions for Batman that the film is finished as is. Like other's have said though, there are probably scenes Nolan cut himself and other production work saved up for another release as extras.

That said, if you read the script, there are plenty more scenes like Rachel looking out the window and the trees turn into ghosts, etc. more scenes with Bruce travelling the world. More of everything.

Ummmm......one thing to prove that completely wrong:

Katie Holmes.

There will another edition.....WB will cash in this pretty great check. For sure.

There are scenes that were cut....and they'll be a part of the dvd.

Mu simple question is wheter there's enough meat to justify a SE. My guess is probably not.....but we'll see, I guess.

Maybe those lost sceens will be on the future HD-DVD?
