English! Do you speak it?

So, I've finally started to watch Doctor Who. I already hate the Daleks. God they are annoying.

I haven't watched Dr Who much, because the mythology seems so dense, but I find the concept of the Doctor continually being reborn into different personas fascinating for some reason. I'm not sure exactly why.

Actually, I wish the James Bond franchise would go that route and that "James Bond" was just a code-name for whoever takes over when the previous 007 was killed or retired.

I jumped in with the 50th Anniversary and Christmas Special. Then continued with the last Episode of Season 1, of the Doctor Who relaunch. I just really enjoyed Tennant in the 50th Anniversary Movie and wanted to continue with him as the Doctor.

That is one fan theory to "rationalize" the recastings, I think. It all started with Lazenby's "That never happened to the other one." line from OHMSS.

Yeah. Between the different actors and the different time-settings (from 60's cold-war to taking on modern day nonstate actors and terrorists), I used to pretend that it was just different Bonds. But Skyfall's plot seems to have put a stake in that theory. Oh well, I guess I can still pretend. :o

I started with 9, myself. He has a really dark and snarky demeanor. I like him better than Tennant or Smith. My favorite is 4/Tom Baker. The Daleks can be annoying but they have great stories with them. The 50th anniversary is a huge thing you need to rewatch when you get to it after finished the other seasons. It's just an amazing thing they put together.

The Daleks do seem a bit dated, I have to be honest. Maybe that's part of their charm.

and they always bring them back nearly for every series. I could do without the Daleks for a bit and then bring them back in a big way so audiences will be more pumped to see them.

Just don't think so hard and it all falls into place beautifully. :yay:

I don't care about Dr. Who, don't have a reason to start
And I don't care how many argue with this, muffins looks like large sized cupcakes, I won't say they're not

I don't mind the dated Daleks, except for the way they talk.

I feel the same way. **shrugs**

It is a cool theory, but I'm not sure if it's true or not. The makers of Die Another Day supposedly wanted Connery to cameo to prove the theory. I read something like that.

It's so random how Aziz goes from not liking Dr Who to something about muffins being large cupcakes. It's like he was one of the screen-writers for 'The Room.'

The different M's are confirmed (and to an extent, the different Q's). But the different Felix Lieters (and Money Pennys) are still a problem.

I prefer male M to be honest. Him and Connery had great chemistry. Judi Dench has done a great job though. As for the Q's, I'm indifferent towards them. I like the older dude, but the young guy they have now has done well.

It's life, conversation change, like "in other news"
I just moved in a faster pace

I know I'm probably in the minority, but I'm not a fan of the new hipster Q introduced in Skyfall. I miss the Desmond Llewelyn Q who seriously kept Q'ing until he was in his 90's, from Sean Connery to Pierce Brosnan.

I didn't like him either, but I suppose he'll grow on me with time & as the movie series progresses.
