It sucks that Connery didn't care for Bond anymore and got fat. I'm pretty sure he also didn't age particularly well. He looked old in his earlier movies, and then looked pretty old in DAF.

They also mention of him going bald prematurely & worn a toupee on all of his Bond films.

Connery got bitter about the role. I saw a great Bond documentary last year that was released for the 50th anniversary and they interviewed literally all the Bonds (even Lazenby) except Connery. I'm a big fan of Connery the actor, but as a person he seems a bit of a you-know-what at times. But I digress.

Anyway, he got pissed during 'YOLT' because he couldn't even leave his hotel in Tokyo without getting swamped by fans. As a result, some people say it looks like he wasn't into the role and so they don't like it as much. I love YOLT though, and think he just has a harder edge in it. It really is a damn shame he didn't do OHMSS though.

And Diamonds was a terrible script, starring a toupe'ed Connery that was completely phoning it in.

His "aging" in his earlier movies did give him a lot of charm and masculinity though.

Wow, that's a shame. He should have done those interviews. I've actually heard that he's a good dude, IDK. YOLT was okay, but I don't think he phoned in that performance. Oh, and did money also make him do Never Say Never Again? Was that phoned in too? Was it even a good movie, lol?

Another trivial point is that when Moore took over the role of Bond from Connery, Moore was a bit older than Connery. The producers etc. wanted to go with a younger Bond. LOL

Remember when Moore Bond fought a stow-away midget near the end of one of the movies?

Also Connery's Bond smoked cigarettes. Moore's was a pissant humdinger who smoked cigars. :o

Think they'll let Bond smoke ecigs now as a "modern callback" to Connery? :woot:

It's rare to find a hero that smokes today.

Man, I enjoy Doctor Who, but some Episodes start like total cheese fests. I'm at Episode 5 of Season 2, and it's the 2nd time I hope that the intro turns out to be some cheesy B-Movie someone is watching on TV. The first time was when I saw white "Shaolin" Monks in 1879's Scotland.

Actually I think pissing off Chubby Broccoli was a greater motivating factor for starring in NSNA than money. Watch the documentary. It's called 'Everything or Nothing.' It'll give you the behind-the-scenes scoop.

I don't think Connery "phoned-in" YOLT btw. I do think he didn't give it his all, though. Some scenes he was really on. Others you could tell he was a bit tired of it. He definitely phoned in Diamonds, however.

BTW Nathan, did you ever finish or get around to watching the rest of the G.I.Joe episodes?

Yep. The Man With The Golden Gun. That little person came out in Fantasy Island.

De Plaaaane! De Plaaaaaane!

I think I watched a tragic 'E! True Hollywood Story' about that little dude once.
