I've learned to stay out of those threads. I am Christian enough not to want to fight about it.

I'm a pacifist in general, I can entertain other views with polite good humor. I just can't take bullies on either side. Those threads just make me want to cry.

Oh man you should skim over the current one, there is some crazy backhanded comments. I'd like to think myself a pacifist as well, until I see someone just mock a religion. Plus, why is it always Christianity? Why don't people bash Judaism or Buddhism? Lame.

Give them a chance, lol. The way I see it no one can know everything about everything, the universe is just too darn big. I have no problem admitting there is a lot of crap I just know. Other folks just seem to have a problem admitting the same.

There's plenty of bashing of other religions going around. Ironically mostly by Christians who then get offended when the table is turned on them.

Not saying that's the truth in this forum imparticular but in the general society, Christian bashing is quaint compared to some of the other bashing I see going on, on a daily basis.

I just don't understand why it's so hard to let other folks have their opinion without resorting to harsh words. Everyone's got a right to their opinion without me telling them they are stupid just because I don't agree.

Like everything else in the world, there are radicals....its sad that Christianity is one of the biggest religions in the world so our radicals are substantially larger in number.

I didn't call myself a Catholic for a long time because I was ashamed at what stigma's were attached to it. Now, I realize that it's the individual that defines the religion. You create and walk your own path, as long as you do it with dignity and respect you have nothing to fear.

I have yet to see any poster-to-poster direct insults since my return to SHH. The worst criticism I could fairly level at this forum is some posters' bullheadedness in debates.

It's tiring, but mostly forgivable.

I can be quite harsh myself in the wrong mood and it does quite easy for some people. It takes effort sometimes to realize you are going to offend people and restrain yourself from making a comment that will be badly taken.

There are no innocent religions when it comes to attacking other religions. Even people within the same religion will attack others who believe something even slightly differently.

That I see Christians complaining of being bashed is one I have to hold back on because there are so many who are callous and causal with offending anyone else who believes differently and for so long were free to do so and now take even valid criticism as an attack on them.

Despite one of the main teachings is to turn the other cheek, it seems some think it means turn the other cheek of whoever offended you and punch it instead.

What people have to understand as well is that the "Christians" they see and hear on TV and the news aren't everyone. So when they bring it up here and argue it, they are generally arguing with a Christian that doesn't share the same bigotry and hatred as the ridiculousness that makes the news.

I don't like getting into these sorts of debates especially on a forum like this which isn't for a serious topic like this or any of this nature in my opinion.

very true. the community forum of a comic book website is hardly the place to debate things other than if Superman's costume should or shouldn't have underwear

I don't think it's a matter of religion, it's a matter of humanity in general. We fight about other things too -- race, politics, economics and global warming and yeah, Supe's undies. I think since we were born predators and don't always hunt critters anymore we take that pent up desire for the kill and use it on each other.
