Schools need to teach economics and basic common sense. WTF are "Apple Dollars" and where can I get them?
Luckily, this was just a skit for her TikTok, but I'm surprised this wasn't a thing when they first introduced Apple Pay.Schools need to teach economics and basic common sense. WTF are "Apple Dollars" and where can I get them?
Sadly I can believe such things are real. I've seen enough poorly educated people to suspect at least a few people genuinely believe it.Luckily, this was just a skit for her TikTok, but I'm surprised this wasn't a thing when they first introduced Apple Pay.

Pappy Van Winkle is some expensive Bourbon. It’s too rich for my blood. But I’ve always heard it’s really good stuff.@Babillygunn I was talking to one of my UC hallmates/housemates/etc. and telling him I might come up to SF and visit. He just texted me and said "Your boy done lost his mind. Not drinking it now, but maybe we crack this if you visit". I'm sorta afraid to know what he's done, but have you ever heard of this stuff? Should I just drive up there? Tonight?![]()
He's a former atty with the California Insurance Commission and his tax guy told him he needs to spend more money now that he's retired. Is this the tax guy's fault? You're from KY and I thought you might recognize it.

When your tax guy tells you need to spend more after you retire, what ya gonna do?Pappy Van Winkle is some expensive Bourbon. It’s too rich for my blood. But I’ve always heard it’s really good stuff.
I go with the cheap stuff anyway. My go-to bourbon is a Jim Beam Double Oak. After it is aged it is transferred to a second barrel that has been charred then it has an additional maturation. The charred barrel gives it an oaky, almost caramel flavor to it. A lot of people don’t like it, but I think that’s just snobbery.
A lot of Kentucky folks swear by Woodford Reserve. But I feel like it tastes like cough syrup.
If you’re loaded, I suppose there’s worse things to spend your money on than a bottle of Pappy. When your tax guy tells you need to spend more after you retire, what ya gonna do?
I think I'll go up to the city in Oct......just because he's my friend....
EDIT: He just told me he has more money than time, but doesn't plan on cacking anytime in the near future. Guy has always had a weird sense of humor. He's also got a wall full of Japanese whiskey so there's that.....
Check out his wall above. I took a pic when I was up there in June.If you’re loaded, I suppose there’s worse things to spend your money on than a bottle of Pappy.

I'm not much of a whiskey guy myself, but do like the Japanese whiskey he's given me. He actually doesn't drink that much.....until he does....That’s impressive. I actually love Japanese Whiskey. I also like Japanese Beer. I may be a bad Kentuckian, because I’d take a Japanese or even a Tennessee whiskey over a Kentucky Bourbon. Of course, my adult beverage of choice is a Caribbean rum. But that’s probably because I have a sweet tooth. All that said, I don’t actually drink that often unless I’m somewhere that has an open bar or if I’m with somebody and they’re opening a bottle.
This gets me thinking about things that people’s home states do as specialties that no one else does. And like I said, for me it’s probably not bourbon. I probably like bourbon candies or ice cream more than a shot of bourbon.
No, for me, there are two Kentucky specialties: the hot brown (which my late mother had perfected and which was why we looked forward to the weekend after thanksgiving more than the actual day). Or, the other specialty being bbq mutton, which is simply amazing and is one of the reasons why I love having clients in Owensboro, KY.
