Agreed about Goyer. The GL franchise had its biggest success under Johns so I kind of trust him more. But it's only story credit by Johns, the actual script is written by Goyer and Justin Rhodes.

When it comes to writing movie scripts, I trust Goyer far more than Johns, his ideas are full of movie cliches and familiar troupes, while all that works very well for CW's DC properties, for movies, Critics dismiss all those ideas as "derivative writing".

just watched IW

Eh. If you gave Rhodes a competent script he'd nail it. Reynolds is a fine actor and killed it with Deadpool, but I never thought he was a good fit for GL.

Kick Goyer & Johns off the story/script as soon as possible.
God damn and they're producing, not exec producing, GLC.

Aside from having worked on more successful films and probably having a good working relationship with WB, I have no idea why anyone would think he was a good fit for this project.

I can't see them making up for the other's shortcomings.

If you're talking about Johns, it's his contribution to the DCCW.
If Goyer...uh, Krypton (production values) and pretty much only integral guy left from the Nolan days.

Maybe the Green Lantern property just doesn't work for live-action. The characters aren't the problem, it's either the somewhat obscure concept or the studio not knowing how to handle it. Whatever the case, perhaps it will always be better suited for animation.

Maybe the characters are the problem. How many space cop movies are there, anyways?

The concept of space cops using jewelry as a weapon(that chose them because of their "worthiness") to police the universe is weird. Not to mention saying an oath when charging their weapon from a power battery. Those goofy concepts won't work if you don't truly embrace them. The protagonists themselves aren't the problem, there's nothing wrong with Hal Jordan or John Stewart as actual characters, even though I don't particularly care for the latter all that much.

I don't think there's any concept in comics that doesn't really translate to film. We do, after all, live in a world where Rocket Raccoon is now a beloved part of pop culture. The problem with the film weren't really on a conceptual level, they were on a scripting and production level. The First Flight animated movie was essentially a more successful take on what the live-action film was going for.

Goyer's the one I was talking about.

Earth-bound Earth 2 Alan Scott is the way to go

And just a few years ago people considered that totally too "out there" for a live-action superhero movie, yet here we are. There's really nothing in comic books that's too silly to translate to film.

It's still the familiar argument of GOTG. Which other space avengers even has as much notoriety as the folks who guard the galaxy?
I figured they'd adopt the 'space cop' motif by now, but they've latched on to the pirates route.

Now you're talkin'. GL/Flash movie with Earth 2 Alan and Jay Garrick, WB!

If they manage to legitimately do Earth 2, I'll be set for life.

Do you mean before or after the movie? Because prior to that even the GOTG weren't known; that was part of what made their success so inexplicable. Silver Surfer has had a movie in various stages of development since the 80s, but it's never happened for one reason or another.

Both. I know F4 became more synonymous with dealing with the scientific unknown on Earth rather than going on those psychedelic missions.
Aquamoa's taking Radd's schtick.

Honestly, I think the concept can work beautifully and it can be huge; of course, personally I'm of the belief that when it comes to storytelling any concept can work when executed properly, i.e: the previously mentioned GotG or even some classics, like Star Wars, which if you think about it is the most ridiculous concept there is...the ring being designed to tap into the wearer's willpower is not any crazier than things like "the Force" or Mjolnier, if executed properly.

It could also be my personal bias because I think the franchise has infinite possibilities and I really wanna see it onscreen sooner than later; right before going into IW yesterday my buddy and I were talking about how much we liked Killmonger in Black Panther and then I was like "I don't get it....I don't get why I never thought of Michael B. Jordan for John Stewart! I love Jordan and I think he's awesome and I don't get why I never thought of him for the character!" and I think that's maybe because he's "too pretty" :oldrazz:

So I really wanna see a GLC movie with (first choice) James Marsden as Hal Jordan and Trevante Rhodes as John Stewart, or Jensen Ackles (not gonna happen) and Michael B. Jordan/Ricky Whittle respectively.

C'mon WB!!!

Only I can get pink eye and blurry vision a day before I see Infinity War :funny:

To not witness Chris Evans' glory with that is pure tragedy.

From someone who was raving about Cap's beard for months:

"And Steve was so hot...but the biggest orgasm moment was from Hemsworth"

Hemsworth is THE God of Thunder in this movie.
