I actually thought it WAS the same voice. Though that may be unlikely.

So did I. I understand characters won't be the same but if they could get someone to nail the opening song "Arabian Nights" verbatim, that'd be nice.

Well IMDB tells me the guy who sang it in the original has been retired for almost 2 decades so I doubt they'll get him back. I'm as curious about that one as I am about "Circle of Life" in the Lion King. They're a little weird considering they are these iconic opening numbers, yet not sung by a main character in the film, so they could basically get anyone to sing it.

Thoughts? This could get me in trouble but I think it has to be said, do you think she's worth all that money for this particular project? The article points out that Evans and Hemsworth made the same dough for IW, but they already starred in 3 successful standalone movies about their characters prior to that. ScarJo gets that payday without ever proving her character is an audience draw, and also in light of her recent less than stellar BO track record. Granted, there was demand for a BW movie years ago, but I think it seems a little too late now. Do I make any sense or am I some horrible sexist for questioning this.

Not acceptable...Do we wanna make a good movie here or not people?! Get that guy out of retirement right meow. Aladdin was a big part of my childhood and if it's as boring as the live action Beauty & the Beast I'm giving up on Disney. Forget it, I'm just gonna have my people get in touch with Ritchies people.

Sounds like a sensible plan!

I've never liked her as Black Widow, and I can't even watch her in the role without thinking of what we almost had with Emily Blunt. :(

BUT. To play devil's advocate here, despite recent missteps, ScarJo still has a better box office track record outside of Marvel than Hemsworth and Evans have, and in a way, she's paid her dues for longer, since she was the 2nd introduced OG Avenger after Stark (Banner doesn't count since he was recast afterward), so that might warrant her getting a paycheck on their level. Plus, they still got paid the same for what are essentially supporting roles in IW, while this is a lead.

No, you're not a sexist. Shame people (not just you) seem afraid to ask a fair question but that's another tiring conversation. I think the payday is completely warranted here. She's had some B.O. misses but she's already built the character in the Marvel Universe and has become a favorite with some fans. Black Widow could also be made with a smaller budget given her character doesn't require a lot of cgi, so they could afford to pay her more. Good for Scarlett.

I see. The smaller budget was a good reason I asked the question, because I figured if the movie cost around $100M to make, why pay $15M to the main star. But Marvel is usually smart with their spending, so I get it from that standpoint, as well as the dues paying aspect that flickchick referred to.

She is so overpaid. She does NOTHING. Her reaction to Thor showing up is the worst acting in 2018 so far, what the hell was that?!

I watched this film when I was younger and it stuck with me. It instantly became one of my favourite films and I re-watched it all the time. An epic story bolstered by an incredible score and one of Tom Cruise's best performances IMO. Speaking of an Edward Zick film, might be time to re-watch "Blood Diamond" soon.....

I'm normally not one to be interested in live action remakes of animated Disney classics (I didn't really care for the Jungle Book and I'm not thrilled about them doing The Lion King - that movie is sacred!!!), BUT, the teaser pumped me for this one! Probably because of it being a Guy Ritchie movie and because even though Aladdin was one of my favorites as a kid, the movie didn't age that well in recent viewings, so I could do with the live action update.

I didn't understand anything the demonic voice said, tho :o

Stayed up in the hopes that the first episode of Titans would drop

Feelin like a foo right about now

Lion King is hands-down the best Disney movie for me. No way a live-action remake can surpass it, but I'm actually really hyped for it. Jon Favreau is a great director, and what he did with "The Jungle Book" thoroughly impressed me. Also, James Earl Jones is returning as Mufasa and Hans Zimmer/Elton John are returning too. Can't wait to see what they've done.

I haven't read anything but I thought 15M SJ is getting would be similar to what Cavill and Gadot got for MOS and WW? This would be her base salary + all the bonuses and participation fees instead of say having 15% of the budget sent to her bank account?

Unless they're giving her 15M upfront + participation fees which would be huge.

Though that 100M budget is much less than both MOS and WW in comparison

The phrase "Live action Lion King" always bugs me. It isn't going to be like the stage show, or filmed with actual lions, it's going to all CGI. That isn't live action.
