That doesn't surprise me. :o
What if I say that my first reaction to it was "How did the decide to make something that insults the title character like that?", and I still stand by that being a fact?

The easy answer is that the Green Hornet is a character that not many people under the age of 60 actually care about and Seth Rogen is a very big star, so when he wanted to do it as a comedy, the studio didn't see the harm in it.

It's so sad that DC is now the butt of so many jokes.

I mean, if you're any sort of public figure or franchise, someone is gonna make fun of you. I'm pleasantly surprised Gal was good natured enough to take part in it though given the slam against the DCEU. It's pretty cool of her.

I can get behind comedy, but to make your character a weak useless idiot just doesn't work, there is no reason it should work.

None at all

Except Peter wasn't weak, useless or an idiot.
I see your point, he flipped for a pedestrian, and stopped a bike thief.

And caused all the damage that happened, had to wait for the villain to be defeated by his own defunct tech, stole a car and a phone and left them damaged, couldn't beat a bunch of loon bank robbers before they cause a great deal of damage to hit him.......

Maybe not weak, but he sure has the other two qualities in his own movie.

Watching "Solo" for the first time. My God, Lando's first mate, the female robot, is so freaking annoying.

Winstead - yes, book her, hire her, do anything you have to do to convince her.

I love how even those writing for the trades want to make sure they covered their asses now. "Oh if none of the aforementioned ladies are cast, don't blame me for it!". :pal:
They're not really well connected like me. I know for a fact that these roles are going to these ladies, and if not then to someone else.

Okay what's with the Winstead love? I havent seen anything where she has a major role. Any recommendations?

God, I love that movie :ilv::ilv::ilv:

I've been on painkillers for 2 weeks, got surgery yesterday, started Twin Peaks and now Maniac....

I don't know what "reality" is anymore, but I immediately added Cary Fukunaga to my Superman director wishlist (I don't wanna hear anything about the movie not happening or possibilities or anything, it's just MY wishlist):

Zack Snyder (YES, god dammit!!)
Dennis Villanueve
J.A. Bayona
Christopher McQ
Cary Fukunaga

Any of them and I'd be in heaven... :hmr: :hmr:

I will take any one of those directors for a Superman movie.

Thanks, man!

Speaking of Bayona (and I think right now he's probably my favorite for Superman, based mostly on The Impossible and A Monster Calls), finally watched Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom; loved the direction, meh with the script. Bayona certainly has an eye for the visuals, actually, I think everyone is my list has a particular visual style, which is what I want for a Superman movie.

Fallen Kingdom totally felt like it was trying to be an 80s/90s movie, with tone and characterization and everything, for better or for worse.

Is it at least easier to watch than that crap from last year?

Much easier. It's a fun time and actually feels like a Star Wars movie (other than the annoying fembot crap and droid rights. Seriously, who thought it'd be a good idea to put that in?) A very nice palate cleanser after that crap.

Fallen Kingdom needed a better script, Bayona managed to make an entertaining movie with a mediocre script. There are few tense moments in the film, like the opening scene where Mosasaurus escapes into the Ocean. The part where a Brontosaurus is left to die on an Island with active Volcano was heart-breaking.
