god I hope Joker is a big hit for them
The Elseworlds label being a success for WB would be the best thing possible. Quality talent would flock at the chance to make their very own low budget one-off stories without the pressures of multiple film commitments and box office/critical success.
Not to mention WB would be bringing something completely unique to the genre, a nice consolation to the shared universe stuff not achieving the level success they anticipated.
I don't want to beat a dead horse but I still maintain that if they were so upset with the response to BVS, then they should have just bit the bullet and delayed JL until they could completely revamp it from the ground up with a new creative team. It would have been expensive since a lot of pre-production work was already in place, but they ended up losing a bunch of cash anyway, so it's not like that mattered in the end.
I agree with both of you and the moment the didn't do that and decided to move ahead with Snyder's movie they should've left it alone and did their thing after JL. I mean they already brought Johns in to do a page one rewrite on the whole movie so that the story was self contained then they could've just let it go and then do the soft reboot afterwards. Or if they were so bent on reshooting most of the movie then they should've delayed the movie and given the fans a better product.Like I said it was not about earning Cash (it would have bombed) but saving JL brand name and DCEU's face. But they cared more about their Bonus so..
well you know what they say..... all it takes is one bad day.oh Leto must be having a terrible day
they should have come out and proclaimed that it wasn't going to rival the MCU, but instead be its own thing.Isn't that what they originally intended for the DCEU?
Agreed.I LOVE that last second there...it's just "right".
I really don't know what to think of this project, cause in one hand I feel like the Joker without Batman can't really be, Batman is his whole reason to be, and also I feel like the Joker should not have his origin explained.
And yet, that said, I'm terribly exited about a reinterpretation of the character, with it being so rich and full of potential, the talent involved, the setting and everything else, I think this is gonna be something really special and possibly open the doors for WB the produce more auteur-driven CBMs in the future.
If Leto's Joker movie happens by any miracle tho, I hope Batman is involved; their relationship is mutually character defining.

Leto is busy preparing for Morbius.
I feel the same way and I was against the movie until I heard about Phoenix.I really don't know what to think of this project, cause in one hand I feel like the Joker without Batman can't really be, Batman is his whole reason to be, and also I feel like the Joker should not have his origin explained.
100% agreed!Well, Leto is busy being a successful academy award winning actor and touring rockstar who looks 20 years younger than he really is...
Yeah, poor Leto.

It's the perfect casting for me and since the actor doesn't want to be in a franchise, I'll take this solo movie. So far, it looks pretty good.
Now that FoX-men Universe is about to end, here's a chance to get those unemployed X-men actors into DC movies. You know who else would do a killer (pun intended) Joker??
James McAvoy.
I'm willing to accept creative liberties when the talent involved is pretty top of the line
scorsese he is not, but I've seen stuff Todd Phillips has done and I think he has potential to direct a good movie, he's done it before. Joaquin has a chance to elevate it from good to something else entirely.
