I'd easily go with Abrams over the Wachowski's.

WB already hired a polarizing director to kick start their DC universe and look how that went. No need to go down that route again.

the wachowskis and everything they've done recently are a disaster at this point, no one is giving them serious money to do anything

I want them no where near a DC property

Channing Tatum as Superman and whispering Eddie Redmayne as Lex Luthor. You want it Chip!

His Oscar thirst was also one of the worst things ever and it's embarrassing it actually worked.

They did Keaton so dirty.

At least Tatum has Logan Lucky.

Tatum as Superman I might be convinced even though he’s not that great of an actor, he has charm though.

No more pencil neck dweebs for lex please. I just don’t find that take interesting for the life of me.

I would be fine if they rebooted Superman using Abrams script. It was a great read.
I think it’s time for me to revisit that script, as I haven’t read it in years. But as I recall, there were two major changes to the mythos* that I didn’t love but could accept as they worked well enough within the context of the story. Outside of those though, I pretty much loved it.

*the October 2003 draft I’m referring to, which didn't have Kryptonian Lex or the “Kryptonian fu” fight scenes of the July 2002 draft.

There's a subsequent (third) draft which never made it online, but I dug up my old bookmarks and someone here years back gave a review with some details. A lot of changes, even from the 2nd draft which most are familiar with.

Watching Mad Max Fury Road again. While this is undeniably a very well done movie....I cant help but struggle with it every time I watch it. I think because Miller is more concerned with the visuals and the action rather than story and character arcs, the movie keeps me at arms length. I remember when it had first came out and it got a 99% on RT and everyone was calling it the best action movie ever, I was expecting to be blown the f*** away and I left the theater disappointed and I think its because I can't truly enjoy a movie on a visceral level, even a dumb action movie, if there aren't characters and character arcs to latch onto and invest in. I had a similar issue with Dunkirk last year, I left that movie feeling cold and really nothing at all because that movie wasn't about story and character but rather about a vibe and mood and technical cinematic mastery, just like Fury Road.

I dunno, just my random two cents for the day. lol

Dayum dude, don't lump Dunkirk in with Mad Max Fury Road.
A good action movie should be able to deliver its characters & story, including the arcs, through the action.
That's why people were so excited over Miller potentially doing anything DC-related.
JL Mortal had a hilarious script, so I wouldn't say he could've turned out something as good or great.

Thanks, I’d never seen that. Honestly, the 2nd Abrams draft sounds better, as I’m not sure I could get on board with Schwartz turning Jor-El into the villain. Their arcs for Lex sound pretty much the same with minor differences. I also don’t remember the Kent’s telling him never to use his powers in the 2nd draft, but as I said it’s been a while.

Haha, well I think Dunkirk and Fury Road are similar in that they don't tell their stories through things like dialogue and character interactions and relationships and don't have conventional character arcs. Both movies I think are asking the audience to digest them in a way different than what they're used to for other movies, through visuals, through action, through tense musical score, neither movies spell out whats happening in a clear way because there's no clear cut protagonist(s) leading us through the story through his or her point of view.

I dunno, I'm not faulting George Miller in any way, the movie is incredibly well done but it's hard for me to put it in my top favorite action movies because I really don't care about the characters. I feel like when Furiosa ripped Immortan Joe's face off and said "REMEMBER me?!" that should have been a "**** YEEAH!" moment because you're supposed to be cheering and rooting for these characters to overcome their oppressors but I don't get that pump of adrenaline because although its a cool moment, I'm not invested in Furiousa because of the way Fury Road tells its story.

This ain't it, chief.

What ya smokin, fam? Furiosa and the other girls are clear cut protagonist and the pov is in a way Max. Now, if the story didn't hit with you then that is fine, but Miller made everything pretty damn clear. Immortan Joe was a goddamn rapist mad man who kept them like trophies in a vault. That makes the story real simple, escape. Pretty damn easy for me to root for them from there. Are you familiar with the other Mad Max movies? They kinda follow the same formula, especially the second one. Max runs into ppl with trouble and ends up helping despite not wanting to do it in the first place. It is also very clear to me from the beginning that Furiosa at one point was a wife, but was not suitable for breeding and later became a soldier for him, going up in ranks etc. There is beauty in violence and action, which Miller did so masterfully. I mean, there is a reason folks like Nolan, Tarantino, Spielberg, Cameron, all loved the movie, that kind of action storytelling is rare to see at this level.

Hotel Artemis

Dude Bro version of Bad Times at the El Royale. Set in the near future, it follows again another one of them secret hotels with secret doors and shady characters. Most of the characters just ain't really interesting and it does not get going till the last half. Bautista was good and Sofia Boutella can make any plain boring character interesting. Jodi Foster is just meh. The only good moment is a hallway action sequence with Boutella, but its just too short of a scene, she kicks ass in a skirt and all that, she would be a cool Catwoman. Overall, not interesting or good acting like Bad Times at the El Royale, and at even a shorter runtime, but it felt longer than Bad Times in a few scenes. 4/10

I am continually saddened we never got to see Miller's JLA.

If WB are going to down the ''elseworlds/not connected'' route then they should give us Miller's JL and Burton's Superman, dammit! I'll sign all the petitions.

I'm not if people had a problem with Snyder's JL they would've definitely had a problem with Miller's. Although I would still love to read the JL s script or story that was written before Miller that was supposed to bring Nolan's Batman and Singer's Superman together.

Yeesh. I wouldn't want Nolan's Batman to be tainted by Singer's boring creepy wankfest of a Superman.
