Having rewatched Star Trek: Into Darkness, I really think Abrams' aesthetic lends itself to the kind of imagery we often see depicted in Superman's world. These visuals in particular from Birthright are just begging for his reimagining on the big screen.

For a second there, I thought I was looking at Star Wars / Valerian concept art.

I read some GoT outlines of the final season that seem legit to me and backed by some of them leaked pics. I liked most of it, but the ending is a big FU to the audience imo. lawd.

Everything was hnnngh and then the ending comes and you is left with a ''Nah'', not feeling moment. Eh.

the good news is the franchise is just going to F that by rewinding a few millennia.

Watched In Bruges again. Still think it's much better than Three Billboards. McDonagh is more in his wheelhouse here.

Watching The Matrix for the first time in a long, long time. Lawd, I forgot how excellently choreographed these fight scenes were. The Watchowski's were ahead of their time. The cinematography in general is so crisp and gorgeous.

And say what you will about Keanu, his acting was a little flat in this but he physically committed to this role. I'm paying attention this time and theres very little times when he uses a stunt double, Keanu is doing most of the fighting in this and thats really commendable. And the Watchowski's make sure you SEE its Keanu doing the fighting with the way its shot.

I made the mistake of watching tonight's Walking Dead for the first time in YEARS just to see what happens to Rick, and now I'm sitting here with Talking Dead on in the background where the producer (showrunner?) is basically going on a spiel that can be summed up as: "we're gonna milk this thing forever." Yep, glad I hopped off this boat, lol.

I’ll watch the rick grimes movies.... I guess?

I like Andrew Lincoln so I’ll give them a shot. Just keep that gimple guy’s input to a minimum.

Danai is just about the only reason I had any continuing interest and even then I fell off the show.

Hotel Artemis

Dude Bro version of Bad Times at the El Royale. Set in the near future, it follows again another one of them secret hotels with secret doors and shady characters. Most of the characters just ain't really interesting and it does not get going till the last half. Bautista was good and Sofia Boutella can make any plain boring character interesting. Jodi Foster is just meh. The only good moment is a hallway action sequence with Boutella, but its just too short of a scene, she kicks ass in a skirt and all that, she would be a cool Catwoman. Overall, not interesting or good acting like Bad Times at the El Royale, and at even a shorter runtime, but it felt longer than Bad Times in a few scenes. 4/10

The thing that kept irritating me.....They keep insisting on secrecy of the hotel but flash a huge neon sign saying "HOTEL ARTEMIS". Wtf??

Last time I watched an entire episode was the infamous Negan one. Before that, it was probably the farm back in season 2 or the prison stuff with the governor, idk.

Darabont really got screwed, huh.

my favorite period of Walkind Dead is right after the prison stuff, it was almost like zombie omnibus which showed each member in short trek through living dead filled apocalyptic world.

I think the showrunners just got too in love with themselves. Even exciting storylines from the books just got so navel-gazingly dragged out that I got bored and what should have been impactful moments or episodes felt empty and flat.

I think the writers and creator of the show got caught up trying to be nominated for awards imo. Surviving the goddamn zombies is why we even tuned in to begin with. I don't care to follow a jhery curl dude around and his feelings. Not to mention killing off wrong characters. Eh, a show that should have ended 3 or 4 seasons ago.

That image of Rick on a horse... from first season with a large city filled with the dead, nothing but a missed opportunity. I think it went downhill after the bald girl went missing and then boom. At this point I want to see a proper zombie apocalypse type show. 28 Days Later tv series.

The show tried to be something it's not. And that's ok if you can pull it off. Imo, they did not.

I stopped Walking Dead after season 2. The show was just so sllloooowww. It felt like every episode spent 40 minutes with Rick staring into space. I mean, i dont mind deliberately paced things but damn that show just pushed it. I'm surprised casual audiemces werent turned off by it earlier. In the comic book, the slow talky scenes were interesting and engaging. In the show they were just plain boring.

Yup.

I haven't even begun watching Walking Dead, nor have I read the comics past the first issue.

That extended trench scene from CCXP...damn!
