Justice League Lounge of Justice - Part 82

Batman '89 just dropped us in Batman's world without introducing him. Granted it was early in his career but when the movie started, he was already a guy in a Batsuit kicking butt. Why? Who cares, he just is. Thats why we're here and bought the ticket in the first place. I'd like more cbms to take that approach.

it's just like the first batman comics as well.
and i think this approach works better a lot of times - you can show flashbacks or hints of their past (just as the animated series did).

with BTAS, bruce is a fully fleshed out character - a lot of his background story and how he came to be is left up to ur imagination.
and ur imagination is always infinitely better.

kguillou, your top films list confuses me. Wouldn't #4 be #5?

And also.. how's a movie that's rated 5/10 get to be on your top 5?

The Pest is one of my all time favorite movies, but is a gahdamn awful film. Can't speak for kguillou, but sometimes your favorite films aren't technically any good at all.

Lmao, ive been meaning to remove that whole thing from my signature for months, i've just been lazy. 2018's been such a meh year for movies for me.

Yeah I really loved that they provided that psychiatric background. It shows that he's not "just crazy." He has a diagnosed condition he lives with. And we see that he desperately wants help and lost the person most capable of providing. So you have this character who can't help how they were born, but that wants to be better, who is ultimately manipulated by the one living person he finally believed truly wanted to help him.

It was sad as ****.

The only real problem I had with this particular approach is that it continues popular media's long trend of stigmatizing the mentally ill as violent criminals or psychopaths, when, in fact, most people diagnosed with personality disorders (bipolar, borderline, etc.) are pretty harmless. To your point, though, Bethel's motivations certainly did come across more nuanced than we're used to getting from these types of characters. And it was also refreshing to see the show draw parallels between him and the "heroic" Daredevil (who clearly has some psychological issues of his own) even if it doesn't go so far as to reveal that they're similarly afflicted.

more time for 2017 movies :smgs:

The only animated series based on comic books I can think of that starts with its characters origins is Superman: TAS. Flashback like in Ninja Turtles cartoons don't count.

Never finished the new spidey game and will most likely never finish RDR2.

Also, I didn't know your own gang knocks you out if you keep antagonizing them. If you roam around and you come upon a mexican gal in chains and you kill the two officers with her, she gives you her panties.

2017 was like sensory overload for me in terms of movies. There was so much good stuff that came out that year on an almost bi-weekly basis. 2018 feels like a come down albeit with some very notable highlights.

Finished spidey in two days, I put it on every day or so just to swing around and beat up some fools

RDR2........ yeah I’m really starting to feel buyers remorse here. Got caught up in all the rockstar hype even though all the signs were there. Beautiful looking game with an amazing story I have no doubt, but it’s just too slow and it drags for me. Don’t have the time for it. I don’t want to worry about feeding the playable character or cleaning/feeding my horse. I just wanna shoot people and play like I’m some unstoppable badass outlaw without all the realism

MCU Eternals was announced after Matt took over for Batman and has a production start date already not to sound overeager but what's taking so long? Is he writing a Batman trilogy? Also he's holding up other Batman family related movies.

The standards for a successful Batman film are much higher than what you'd expect from something as obscure and untested as The Eternals. I mean, we're talking about the crown jewel here! Likewise, I imagine that all parties concerned (not just Reeves, mind you, but WB in general) are merely taking the fine-tuning approach, especially given the lukewarm reception to the latest franchise outing. I know the wait is frustrating--I feel it too--but it's honestly better to take your time to iron things out than it is to rush headlong into production before you're good and ready. Also, I wouldn't put too much stock in all the scuttlebutt that's out there. As much as I like to give certain scoopers the benefit of the doubt, they clearly haven't been on their a-game of late.

Meanwhile, somewhere in a remote condemned warehouse, Alan Moore pierces a bald voodoo doll out of pure disdain and frustration.

I doubt Moore even knows what Netflix is, or hell, what the internet is.

Does he know what year it is?

Somehow that Happy TV show completely flew under my radar. I'm a bad Morrison fan. Will have to check it out, and I'm glad to hear he's got a new TV deal now. The TV landscape could use a dose of Grant Morrison craziness, imo.

Morrison, Noah Hawley, and Bryan Fuller should do something together

It definitely was zany, but despite being a Morrison fan, and liking Christopher Meloni, I found the show to be a bit slow/tedious at times. I think less episodes and it may have worked for me.

Allegedly the only adaptation of his work Moore actually liked was the Justice League episode based on For the Man Who Has Everything. Which makes sense because the DCAU is GOAT.

My brother told me that Red Dead Redemption 2 includes the realism of horse testicles being affected by the weather.
I think I'll add more suggestions for true authenticity for a future sequel:These suggestions are meant to be publicized in the Onion. Don't take them seriously Rocksteady.
  1. Be able to neuter a male horse
  2. Horses need to mate, or they will become extinct
  3. Walk long distances, so long you can walk for hours between one town and the next
  4. If you don't take a shower for a long time, you will get sick
  5. People need their vaccines
  6. One shot to the heart should kill any character
  7. Your gun gets rusty after long use
  8. The world runs out of ammo for various guns after a while, you need to wait days for a supply to be manufactured, or wait weeks for them to be shipped
  9. Bandits steal ammo trains sometimes, you have to spend real time weeks to be able to amass your party and retrieve stolen shipment
  10. Towns run out of people after they are killed in missions
  11. One man army thing can go bye bye, it's unrealistic, you will always need an army for missions this big
  12. You'll need shields to protect you from bullets, and the weight should hinder you
  13. Hot steel in summer burns your skin, you see the blisters when you take off your shirt
  14. Have the right to call anyone calling you for a duel an a-hole, and skip fight
  15. If you try or successfully perform a stealth kill, everyone around you will notice, and you will perish
  16. Retries? There is no such thing in real life. Stay dead
  17. Fail a mission, and story progresses accordingly.
  18. You lose an arm in free roam? Congratulations man, it's amputated.
  19. Someone throws a knife to your balls? You lost them for good
  20. You need to go through the process of opening canned food exactly like real life, no shortcuts
  21. Your shoes will break after two years of continuous walking and running, your feet will feel the scorching burn of hot sands, and the bitter cold of winter. Unavoidable.
  22. Someone please amputate my feet, I will have to crawl the rest of the game.
  23. You die? New game buddy, no escaping it. You won't get the Arkham Origins luxury of it being exclusive to a highly difficult mode you only unlock after beating the game twice. (I intentionally brought the death bit twice in the same list, as a grim reminder)
  24. You get treated like Max Rockatansky in Fury Road, your body gets tattooed as an organ doner, that tattoo stays with you.
  25. An eye of yours is gouged, it stays that way.
  26. Both eyes are gouged, player won't be allowed to guide John just cause they can see the environment he can't see, he won't move according to your commands cause he can't see, so you will see him flail around aimlessly with you having very limited control over his movements.
  27. You mate? There will be a time skip after your character dies, your unborn child will learn how to crawl, and the player will control him/her.
  28. Wanted posters won't be removed. If they were, it won't clean your slate buddy, you're still wanted.
