Justice League Lounge of Justice - Part 88

Sources also stress that the new leadership at WarnerMedia are very keen on doing more shows in the formulaic style of The CW’s ‘Arrow’ and ‘The Flash,’ and less shows like ‘Doom Patrol’ and ‘Swamp Thing.’

Hey rockhead executives over at WB, no one is paying for a streaming service that offers more CW tier levels of programming. That stuff is already free to watch and you couldn’t pay me to sit through any of em 22 times a year.

I’ll be canceling my DCU subscription and if that rumor about producing all shows on CW is true, I think I’ll be done with DC and WB for good. They won’t be getting anymore of my business.
Yeah if they think they can get away with convincing people to pay for cheap programming that we can already get on the CW, then the folks over at AT&T/WB have their head in the clouds.

I paid for the year in full, but I absolutely would not renew my sub if this is the direction they decide to go in.

And it's not like they didn't know Disney+ was coming. Even before it had a name, we've been hearing about it for ages. It's almost like Warner is going, "oh wait, y'all were serious about that?! **** let's call a 'time out'!"

There's gonna be a really good documentary made about WB's handling of the DC properties one day, lmao.

If true then AT&T is not messing around

I can't wait for them for them to start meddling with the movies /s

Assuming the rumor is true, my only question would be is the DCU app just completely shutting down? Or will they just remove the original TV shows? Keep comics and other content?

Knowing that even HBO looked at producing a 2nd season of swamp thing makes me really bummed out.

You wanna make DC characters the pop culture icons they once were? Put em on HBO and there’s a good chance we’ll see GOT levels of public awareness/consumption.

Maybe one day. Watchmen will be a good start I think.

I just...need the comics to stick around on some platform. I will miss the shows and just be grateful for the one season I got of them if that's the case, but dammit, I waited too many years for this comics service for them to take them all away again after less than a damn year.

One would hope they bring the currently established shows to their Warner app, but I don’t expect them to do anything I’d hope for because they usually never do.

In regards to comics, I have no clue. They could roll out their own service for comics but I don’t know how prosperous that would be for them

Freaking Warnermedia and AT&T, wanting fans to pay for more procedural CW type shows. ****

Can't believe they kill Wan's baby like this

Doom Patrol allegedly could be next
You know they are saying the WB was not pleased with the footage they saw of Swamp Thing. However this show is very good which once again has me questioning how Justice League really looked.

It would be beneficial to move the shows to the WB app and continue them on there and not the CW. Public outcry will reach even greater levels compared to how it was with Swamp Thing’s cancelation if the CW move happens. I’d get a kick out of watching people curse off WB/AT&T and I’d participate in every form of social media promotions.

I’d like a platform for comics as well and it would be great if it stayed for a smaller monthly fee.

Of course they didn’t like what they saw with Swamp thing, it’s actually a really engaging experience so far and the character is receiving a proper interpretation so far.

These people have no idea how to utilize their dc properties beyond hiring the talent.

I've been of the belief for years that the problem isn't that WB doesn't see the potential for DC characters on HBO - I think they'd LOVE to get some of their characters on there, I'm sure HBO always got first look at any characters they were looking to bring to TV, and I'm sure there have been pitches - the problem, I suspect, has always been that HBO hasn't wanted DC Characters. They have a certain rep and brand, and for the longest time, superheroes didn't fit into that brand. Just like, once upon a time, medieval fantasy with dragons and witches and zombies didn't fit into it. Watchmen feels like a test-run for them in this department, imo, and if it's a hit, those floodgates will likely open. Please be a hit, Watchmen.

With the stuff these shows have established, I have no idea how they’d even move them to the CW or any other national cable channel. It’d have to be a premium channel like HBO.

Yup. I've gone down the rabbit hole and have been making lists upon lists. Too much pre-work put in for it to get cancelled.

If they do end up on CW, they'd probably Supergirl (Season 2) the crap out of it

You’d think hbo would be trying to get in on the comic book craze these last decade or so.

But yeah, GOT being what it was and now watchmen on the horizon, I hope HBO is eventually more open to the DC catalogue, the potential is endless

They’ve only just begun *consistently* hiring the right talent. Prior to 2017, it was just Christopher Nolan, and before Nolan it was Burton (I could also make an argument for Greg Berlanti on The Flash). But still that’s 28 years worth of content with only 2-3 good creators across dozens of adaptations. Sometimes I wish I wasn’t paying attention to this stuff.

You know they are saying the WB was not pleased with the footage they saw of Swamp Thing. However this show is very good which once again has me questioning how Justice League really looked.

JL and ZS's series would have pleased the niche fans and ordinary audiences and be a little unique thing but instead they put it on the mainstream platform and advertised it as the next MCU and that was the end of it, along with their greed for bonuses

And yet, if I were an HBO exec, I’d be looking at Marvel and what they did with DAREDEVIL and be like “we need a Batman series stat.” Now, i know im oversimplifying it and im sure there are many reasons DC is reluctant to put Batman on Tv but i would think Daredevil’s acclaim would’ve lit that fire. Batman+HBO budget and quality could be HUGE. Like GoT/Sopranoes/True Blood huge.

I wouldn't mind a decade of world building and standalone Justice League/DCU action drama on HBO, hardly have time to go to the movies these days anyway.

We'd get a proper Batman/bat family and run really deep with his rogues

Though prob won't happen ever, at least not the next 10 years when Reeves is doing his movies

Well the other thing is that I don't think A-list characters were ever the ones being pitched/offered, lol. I'm not sure even HBO would've turned down Batman. But WB only lets their A-listers appear on TV when they're struggling in the movies...for fear of "diluting" the brand. And Bats hasn't really struggled all that much in the period that HBO has been king, so I doubt he was ever on the table.

Superman seems like a better possibility at this stage, given the current state of his cinematic prospects.
