Personally I'm still hoping that if they reboot Superman that we'd get Calvin Ellis. If they went with him you'd pretty much have a clean slate and could practically do almost anything you'd want.
It's not, imo. It has good production values and a good take on Brainiac, but outside of that, it's VERY basic and forgettable, imo. Especially all its lead characters. I tried re-watching it to prep for the new season, and it was such a damn chore outside of the last couple Brainiac-heavy eps. Swamp Thing and Doom Patrol are much better. I'd even say a few select seasons of the CW shows are also better, just not on the production values front, obviously.Ive heard low key Krypton is one of DC’s best shows.
I'm not comfortable giving him too much credit. He still massacred the first ever appearance of JL on film. An opportunity that can never be got back. He wouldn't be the only possible guy you could have running things who wouldn't be afraid of non-Batman characters. Maybe he should have been replaced earlier!Correct, Flick. I know we’re all bitter at Tsujihara right now but the man was the one who actually had faith in DC characters other than BAtman. Warner Bros pre-Tsjujihara was practically ashamed of their DC brand and refused to mine their library other than Batman and the occasional Superman movie or tv series every now and then. For better or worse Tsujihara at least was the one who got Wonder Woman and Aquaman greenlit. He realized these characters could be helming movies as big as Marvel’s characters are.
Oddly enough, Swamp Thing was their first show in a while that had no involvement from the Berlanti crew.... and it got canceled. *sigh*I say this as someone who still likes a few of their shows, but man, I REALLY wish they'd move on from the Berlanti crew. It seems like every other DC show announced is from that same creative pool, and it's really annoying. Like, you wanna build a DC universe on TV? That's cool. Can't convince HBO and their deep pockets to do it? Ok, that's fine, still doable. Just build a writers room of comics/animation people wanting to break into TV/movies - they'll be relatively cheap hires because of that - and just have them supervised by one or two TV vets as showrunners.
Like, a writers' room typically has about 9 or so people on it. So imagine a live-action DC show (I'm thinking Supes or Green Lantern or one of their other "struggling" top-tier properties) with a writers room of Peter Tomasi, Paul Dini, Gail Simone, Christopher Priest, Michael Green (he's got movie experience), Sterling Gates (he's got TV experience), Kelly Sue DeConnick, J.M. DeMatteis, and headed up by a seasoned (but not "superstar") showrunner or two, like Erik Oleson (Daredevil S3), Craig Silverstein (Nikita, Turn), or Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars, iZombie). It would probably be relatively affordable, and *gasp!* actually good.
I'm just sick of all these people who came from shows like Everwood, Melrose Place, The Vampire Diaries, etc. and only had a passing interest in comics until hired for these gigs.

Too soon to say, but I get your point. And was arguably their best.![]()
I’m still shocked they got Tom King to co write New Gods. Even a few years ago it was unheard of for a Comicbook writer to script a movie for WB. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come if the movie turns out great.
All that hype for the Avengers game...![]()

we got Grant Morrison for Flash, then WB's mouthpiece labelled it as "darker" because they don't want this combo to happen from the start
Flash is in limbo. I mean we actually have a movie going into preproduction with a Comicbook writer doing the script.we got Grant Morrison for Flash, then WB's mouthpiece labelled it as "darker" because they don't want this combo to happen from the start

Rocksteady can still save E3 if they announce that Superman game...wait....
Only one I saw saying that is The Hollywood Reporter, who is generally very reliable. But darker is a thing of magnitudes. It could be darker than the current script they were using without actually being all that dark.
Ya, I think it was Borys who wrote it, I'm sure he or the editor knows using the word beginning with "dark-xyz" will instantly create the narrative and impression on the project and the last term you should be using with DCEU is "dark-xyz"
They could have used terms like more crazy, more mature, crazy fun, thrilling, more twist etc
I don't think it's too far off in this case. Ezra Miller came on board during Zack's tenure, and the original idea for the Flash movie was, after all, Flashpoint. The story where Wonder Woman, probably the DCEU's most popular character at that point, leads a campaign of genocide across Europe and decapitates Mera. It's a tremendously dark story.
So in this case I could see Miller wanting some of that edge to stick in whatever the Flash movie is now, even though ironically that's not really what Morrison is known for. If I had to guess, the studio probably wants something more akin to a crowd pleaser like Aquaman, especially with that being their biggest hit by far. So I can see where the tension between the two parties would be.
