Pretty much. The license to Godzilla also expires after the third movie. They were presumably hoping that Toho would renew if the remakes were super successful, but now that's looking really doubtful. Godzilla vs. Kong would need to reverse the box office fortunes of its predecessor in a major way for that to happen.

You know....maybe...just maybe, we should leave shared universes to Marvel and let that be their thing. I know Hollywood loves to chase after the money but literally every other attempt at a shared universe has failed. DC, The Dark Universe, This Sony Spiderman universe (yes,Venom was successful financially but Morbius is gonna crash and burn), the Fox Marvel universe and now this. Clearly no one but Marvel/Fiege is competent enough to achieve that kind of undertaking so lets just focus on making good movies.

Conjuring shared universe is doing great, and I think DCEU did pretty well too, just not as good as MCU, but good in its own right.

Most DCEU movies were received well by general audiences, except two most high profile ones (BvS and JL). Which is unjustly taken as evidence that the entire DCEU has failed.

Even BVS: UE is generally liked. JL is really their only complete failure. I just think the WB needed to be patient and let things grow but I get that it's a business and they can't afford to do that.

Late to the party, but I finished season 2 of Barry last night. That show is just top notch in nearly every way.

I only saw season 1 of Barry, but totally loved it, must get onto the new one!

Been watching "Good Omens", absolutely delightful!! I'm 2 episodes short of ending it, but decided to shake things up a little bit, so I'm gonna honor my tradition of watching every new Bat-actor's most lauded performances by watching "Good time" now :D

Man, just in the last couple of weeks or so, I've been watching Doom Patrol and alternating Warrior, Sharp Objects, Peaky Blinders and probably some other things I can't remember right now... it truly is the golden age of television, there's just so much amazing content out there!! :hmr:

does Dr. Ellie Staple think Elijah thinks of himself as a comic book super after nearly two decades of keeping him in check, when she should know he was obsessed with finding his opposite while he knows he a fragile human being?

Unfortunately that's how this works. All it takes is for the main component of it, JL, to fail for the concept to be considered a failure. Can you imagine the MCU moving forward if Avengers failed, despite all the solo's before being of decent success? The shared aspect is pretty much dead, with WW84, Aquaman, Shazam pretty much unrelated to each other aside from just hints of them being in the same world, with the next high profile project, Batman, being unrelated at all. The momentum is all gone, since releases of films in said universe are now far and few in between, with a bunch of unrelated stuff that doesn't continue the hype for it.

I know there are fans who said this is primed for a multiverse merging the reboot Batman with Gal and Momoa iterations of heroes, but there's 2 problems with that. 1. Marvel already seems to be hinting it's moving in that direction, as hinted at by Mysterio's origins in FFH trailer, so any attempt by DC after that is just another case of them "copying" again, and 2. DC can't even successfuly manage a single shared continuity, what makes you think they can handle a multiverse? It just ain't happening. If they want to give this another shot, best move right now is to reboot with a more solid foundation with Battinson in 2021, which is after WW84. Oddly enough I don't seem WW3 happening for some reason, but that really depends on WW84's performance, and my confidence in that has slowly been decreasing after so many delays. The last time we saw this many delays was BvS, and we all knew how that turned out. By the time Battinson is at it's second movie, that should give WB enough distance from the OG DCEU to start something new, as well as them having an idea what direction Marvel is going by then. The saddest part about all this is, Cav-El is pretty much gone for good at this point. They're gonna need some really inspired storytelling (lol!) to roll Gadot and Momoa into the new continuity if they want to keep them. But all the hype for the current universe is pretty much dead.

^^^WW84 was only moved once and that was the original date the studio wanted

Really incredible. Some of the best television I've ever seen.

they delayed WW84 only once didn't they? am i missing something?

The TAS mobile, and I was ready to compliment bringing the Keaton mobile in the fold of the comics.
TAS one is a great design, but it's too long for my liking.

I enjoyed Glass, it has its share of mistakes that bogs it down, but it's still reasonably decent.

June 4th is a special memory for me, and I watched Mortal Kombat in the year that made this date special, so I'll be watching that movie tomorrow/today.

Pretty sure WW84 was set for a December 2019 release, then moved up to November when SW was delayed to December.

'Wonder Woman 2' Release Date Moved Up 6 Weeks

Then WW84 got pushed back to June next year due to being so close to Frozen, and it's a similar date to the first WW, as well as giving Patty plenty of time (she took a while with the first one)

But I was just thinking about this last night, since someone already mentioned it -

When did crazy Grace mention the Flashpoint plot to WW84?

When was the delay?

Are there any reshoots?

I think they could totally make the villain from the present day or the future, returns to 1984 and causes Diana to create a new reality, so the what already happened happened, but we get another reality where Arthur, Billy and Harley's stories stay the same, but you get new Bruce, Clarke and Barry......it might only require an easter egg or two or a scene or two in the movie to set the path for this, and they don't have to mention this again in the future....

Edit: and no DC doesn't need to do multi-verse, they could just recast and move on, have the WW84 play and move on, or ya do multi-verse because Marvel has deceived the audiences so many times in the past, eg Mandarin, Hulk in IW trailer etc...

The most sensible explanation I saw for the Flashpoint nonsense was someone speculating the villain somehow gives Diana a monkey's paw situation by bringing back Steve, and that somehow the resolution of the movie involves history potentially being changed when Diana has to undo a mistake or something.

Well she will actually have to fail to undo the mistakes in order to save the DCEU, and bringing Pattinson and co, lol

If this is legit, I know Tarantino said he'd wanted to have Django in the Hateful Eight...
