Lounge of Justice - Part 90

Despite Claim of a PVOD Record, Trolls: World Tour Unlikely to Signal a Shift in Theatrical Release Strategy - Boxoffice

It probably wouldn't be profitable for them to release a blockbuster on VOD. WB also doesn't have a VOD platform on which to release the film worldwide. Releasing it only in the US means that the rest of the world would turn to piracy. But if Nolan is so intent on releasing the film this year then a VOD release might actually be more successful than putting it out in theaters while many are still closed and people are hesitant to go see movies. Ultimately,, he should just take the L and allow WB to delay the movie to next summer. Nolan must be delusional to a certain extent because he has so much money (20% of the gross) tied up with this movie doing well and he still wants to release it now when the movie would make way less money that it would normally. But he probably thinks that it will do gangbusters, somehow. I've been pretty surprised that he seems to be so out of touch because he always seemed to be pretty down to earth.

when the chips are down, people show who they really are.

Nolan is realizing his own "Extended Cinematic universe" by getting his movie's release date extended every two weeks for a year. :o

A feat no other movie can match !

If safety and getting it to the widest audience possible was their concern theyd release it digitally in July and do a theatrical release next year. But movie studios still have their heads up their asses and stubbornly would rather release nothing this year or do a theatrical release during a ****ing pandemic. And theater chains arent helping matters by strong arming studios with their boycott threats.

I see what you're saying and I know that ultimately, we're just talking about a movie but I don't want to see Tenet on VOD. For a film of Nolan caliber, I'd prefer a huge screen and booming speakers. My 51 inch plasma just wouldn't cut it.

And then there's this which is funny and true...

:hehe:

His presentation of the sad truth of this time is amusing.

Well, I haven't been back to the cinema since the release of Whedonverse JL. lol

I'm not going to risk myself sitting for 2 - 3 hrs in the close, airconditioned environment of cinema. Even with mask and all, your chance of getting infected by covid-19 dramatically increased when you're in an enclosed space with a lot of people. Most covid-19 infections came from people confided indoor and in close promixity. Hence the spike of cases in care homes, prisons and confined environment of certain factories like meat packing.

Nolan should have came to his sense a long time ago and should have requested a delay until early next year or this December, unless the Orange Mussolini either decided to impose martial law or forment civil war with the help of his puppet master Putin.

Its a tough situation man. I dont blame these studios for running around with their heads cut off. If they release Tenet on VOD, theyre taking a big loss plain and simple. Despite how Universal is trying to spin it, Trolls 2’s VOD release was a financial disaster for them. We’re not yet at the point where home release can generate hundreds of millions of dollars yet.

I don't think that's in the cards even in the near future.

Streaming exclusives is what will dominate the home market. It won't be the same type of revenue stream, but the business model of having your loyal subscribers continue to pay a monthly fee for years on end could be the profit equivalent that keeps these industries going.

Today there was a knife attack here in Glasgow at a hotel being used to house refugees and asylum seekers. Six people including a police officer were injured and are in hospital. One person, the attacker, was shot dead by the police. The police are saying that they aren't treating it as a terrorist incident.
Happened within a minutes walk from my office. Horrifying, scary seeing things like this in places you know well. There's not much information on this yet, we don't know the motives and it's dangerous to leap to conclusions.
I suppose something to be grateful for is that there have only been injuries, not fatalities, except from the attacker.
To give you an idea how rare this kind of thing is here, this is the first time that the Scottish police have shot someone dead in years.
