Lounge of Justice - Part 90

Wonder if its too late to hope for something like this. Much like how Man of Steel took some inspiration from the Earth One take on Superman, a new GL adaptation could do the same. But would anyone think a hard sci-fi take on the IP could find an audience. Or would WB ever be willing to invest in the Hal Jordan character again anyway. Personally I think those E1 books would be the closest thing to a more suspenseful cinematic take on the franchise. Gabriel Hardman was the storyboard artist for Interstellar and Inception so I suppose his take on the character isn't all that surprising.

Earth One change the GL Corps from a universal police force to a guerrilla insurgency, which is a nice twist for an elseworld. However, I think there is a lot of untapped mileage in the police concept, particularly at the moment.
You can look at questions of accountability, the Guardians are self appointed, they alone decide whether someone is fit to wear a ring. Each lantern has the power to destroy planets and they enforce rules onto populations that have no say in the matter.
How does the universe view the GL's? As protectors or as oppressors? Probably a mix of both.
I think you could make a very timely film with Sinestro as a "bad apple" he might use excessive force sometimes, but the Guardians just give him a suspension or some training and then send him right back to his sector.
The human lantern can point out the flaws in the system, that they've created a machine which will inevitably churn out Sinestros.

Been saying for a while that I would love to see a DCEU based off of the Earth One books. Which is why I love Zack's take on Superman.

Re: Pattinson's positive COVID test. I just read an article on Filmmaker Magazine that states the PGA's rules on this thing, and apparently the cast and essential crew have to pass 3 tests per week during the time of filming. Pattinson's infection is definitely recent if they have adhered to the protocols.

The Snyder Cut is the start of something big with them now going back and redoing The Godfather III now.

Stallone is doing his own director’s cut of Rock IV that he’s releasing later this year too. He’s been re-editing it.

Well, Godfather III was initially suppose to open with Michael's funeral. This was also told to Pacino who was asking around 10 million to appear etc, he of course went down in price and we got an inferior flick. Andy Garcia is an ass in real life tho, so eh.

I still foolishly believe in Coppola having another great one in him. He has been trying to make off and on 'Megalopolis' since 2001. And for some cigar aficionados in here, if you contact his wine estate via email with Carmine (named after Coppola's father) Cigars as the heading, some nice old italian man will contact you and hook you up for a price, from Coppola own cigar reserve.

Ok, I can't tell if some of these are jokes or not.

Rocky IV is perfect just the way it is in all of its 80s cheesy glory.

No im serious, he just announced it. I agree Rocky IV is perfection but Stallone feels it needs to be retooled. Apparently he’ll be removing the robot from the film too.

I recently rewatched COBRA.

What a mess, but everything great and bad about 80s cliches and movies is in here. From Brigitte Nielsen and her bald head wearing various wigs in a modeling sequence, to Stallone and his obsession with food puns. A group of 13 or so lame dudes trying to take over the world! Cut to a scene of hardcore hispanic gansgters listening to Gloria Estefan, it just never ends.

You're the disease and I'm the cure, which is delivered with little nuance.

To Stallone's character having a women sound name aka Marion Cobreti. Chef's kiss!

Liked the new Bond trailer. Seems like they throwing everything in the last one. I unfortunately was spoiled of the ending. Gotta see how it plays out on screen tho.

Neil Marshall pretty much lost his directing career. Seen on the film news that his gf allegedly blackmailed other high execs. Bald man got caught in web of hnnnngh.

Tsujihara knows!

When you think of the original trilogy, it's Luke, Han, and Leia. They come as a packaged deal. All 3 are iconic. Starting with TLJ (although hints of it were there in TFA) every aspect of the story bent towards Rey (and to some extent Ren) and any other character was just in the service of that, characters just orbiting her story.

That's not good storytelling or character writing.

I mean...kind of. Luke clearly had a much, MUCH larger role than Han or Leia in the OT.

One of the best experiences of going to the movies was seeing my friend hate on TLJ all through out. He loves SW, and he adjusted in his seat a good three times after Luke tossed that light saber, I could not stop laughing.

Sure, it's his heroes journey. But Han and Leia are iconic characters for a reason. So not really "kind of."

Again, when people think of those movies, they think of all 3 characters. Can't say the same for the sequel trilogy. It's really the Rey/Ren story.

I forgot to buy a ticket to watch his new film starring Kirk. Seeing the IMDb rating, eh looks like I saved eight bucks.

Damn shame. :o

when hnnngh comes calling.

two months before the lockdown here, i had a friend who was about to get married so we went to this party with strippers.

i got a private dance for myself by a blonde lady who looked like charlotte kirk.
she was hnnngh. but you get the feeling that it is the dangerous kind.

she then offers her contact info to me -- for extra "fun" on the side.

i had flashes of tsujihara's downfall.
how the justice league was ruined.
visions of the knightmare world filled my head.

so i said "it's ok. i am already a married man."

i went back out to drink more shots of whiskey.

i bought another dance from her later on that night though. :word:

i remember watching cobra for the first time some years ago when it was on tv late at night.

my friend and i started busting out laughing at how ridiculous it is. and it was all on purpose.
it's like stallone was parodying 80s actions movie cliches, and this was all done while they were still in the 80s.
genius.
