Lounge of Justice - Part 90

reading up on those eucalyptus trees. they are known to explode if there's enough fire too.

holy hell, it's like a death trap when they decided to plant those 100 years ago.

those city planners did not do enough research!

not sure if the city is looking to unplant them and destroy them. i should email my city or mayor to ask bout it.

I don't think any of SoCal has even heard of the phrase "city planner." LA is a gahdamn child's playroom.

There are no words that can properly express my excitement after watching that trailer.

The scenery, the awesome sweeping shots, the friggin' cast, all of it looks amazing.

And that Pink Floyd sample.

Lord...

This Dune universe just doesn't grab me. But I really liked the actors in it and it has Zimmer, so I'm game.

Never got into Dune, but Denis and the cast had me sold already. Trailer looks awesome.

I don’t think it’d do crazy numbers even without rona, but I think the trailer makes it look more appealing to the GA than BR2049 did.

Before Lynch's Dune, Jodorowsky had Pink Floyd to help provide the soundtrack for the adaptation he was planning in 1976-77 before the project fell through.

I feel like Dune could have benefited from coming out during the YA craze (circa 2010-2015).

I havent the slightest clue what Dune is about even after watching the trailer but, Holy Moly, my boy Denis sure knows how to shoot himself a motion picture. It looks visually gorgeous. I just...wonder if this isnt gonna be another Bladerunner 2049 situation, a great, beautiful, weird film with no mainstream appeal and flops at the BO?

This is exactly what's gong to happen which is such a bummer because the film adapts only the first half of the first book.

Dune was always kind of a niche thing though right? I mean the original classic Lynch film wasnt a financial success either right?

Dont get me wrong, im happy this exists and that Warner Bros is throwing money at Denis to remake these properties....but from a business perspective it makes little sense. The original Bladerunner was a big ol flop too.

new dune looks like hard sci fi.
less weird but equally non-mainstream as lynch's version.
and i mean that in a good way.

also speaking of denis villeneuve, i just stepped outside to run an errand and it looks like he is directing california today:

so surreal. this is around 2:30pm. everyone driving with their headlights on.
sun is covered.

Yup. Ash was flying everywhere a few days back, first glance I thought it was snowing. I foolishly washed my car that day too.

francis ford coppola's dracula bride scene with monica belluci and the other hnnngh womens.
make me wish vampires were real.
if i were keanu, i'd never leave that castle.

Yo, all this Star Wars drama...approaching Justice League levels. I'm not even a SW fan and I'm like how did it all go so wrong?

disney had no plan.
it's actually more sad to me then what happened with JL.
because the dc characters are more resilient. always open to reinvention and reintepretation.

but star wars is only ONE canon. you screw it up, and that's it. u can't really go back and redo.

At least DC can say that they had a plan. Sure, their plan wasn't well executed or critically acclaimed. But there was some consistency in Snyder's approach.

Disney on the other hand just relied on the IP value for Star Wars and allowed all the wrong people to be in charge of the franchise. A red flag should have been waved the moment Kathleen said that there was no source material for them to draw from.
