Lounge of Justice - Part 90

Just got an email from DC Universe about renewing for another year with a lowered price of 5 bucks a month/60 for the year

Im not really sure at the moment, what does everyone think

I've been thinking of canceling, especially with hbo max coming in a few months, but that's a pretty good deal.

That they are offering this though makes me wonder about their confidence in it.

Best option to me would be a bundle like with Disney plus. If they plan to keep Dc universe as it's own services, then have a bundle that includes hbo max and dc at a slightly higher price point.

I'll mention this actor to her, and I need to get that Mr Holmes soon, wanted to watch it before
Yeah, Jeremy Brett is brilliant as Sherlock Holmes.

RDJ's movies would have been lot better had WB hired some other director (first one was OK but I wasn't impressed by the second one) I hope Guy Ritchie is not coming back again for the third movie.

Hmmmmm, $60 for a year of DCU? I may do that. I haven't watched any of the shows, and there's some comics I haven't read yet. I may do that?

About 45 minutes into Jedi: Fallen Order. Liking it so far. Really does feel like it's in the Star Wars universe canon. It just feels like Star Wars.

And lightsabers!

For those who have seen the lighthouse.

I recommend 'Body of Evidence' as a second double feature to go along with Defoe's greatness.

Might be unpopular opinion to those who have served in the military etc, but all them world war flicks just seem like propaganda to me. I never thought they would remake Pearl Harbor type of bad and cliche again, but here we are with MIDWAY. lawd.

Not to get too political and whatnot, but there are plenty of ''heroes who fought for our freedom'' on our side who truly did awful things shielded behind the flag and the excuse of war. But tis is Merica'...Love it or leave it type of thing that gets us nowhere and we still walk around news of school shootings like we getting coffee, just another day in the life.

I think there have been good war movies that weren't propaganda and there are tasteful ways to do them, but Roland Emmerich and Michael Bay won't be the guys behind them, lol.

I am disappointed their going for the "rough justice" idea rather than making him an outright villain.
I wanted this to be a superhero breaking bad, Teth starting out as a worthy champion of the wizard, but then slowly starting to abuse his power, to see himself as a god and turn into the kind of tyrant he had once fought against.

From the description he gave, Black Adam sounds like "the maverick cop who gets results" rather than someone who murdered an entire nation. Black Adam perpetrated a genocide, personally. He killed thousands of children, deliberately. That's more than being "Too rebellious. Too rambunctious."

i'm just hoping they will go Magneto route rather than Venom route.

Someone please get this guy away from my faves, STAT!

Bendis comes to DC and Lois and Clark are living apart, Superman is about to reveal his identity to the world and rumors persist that DC is planning an initiative of replacing all their main heroes with new characters. Must be a coincidence.

With that being said, his USM run will always mean a lot to me. His Daredevil run was great as well. But the guy is just painfully past his prime now.

So I watched bits of the Lion King remake, and I think they made the small mistake of going for photo realistic looks for animals without considering drawing a lion's loins.

That's how I feel. I will always love his USM run. That gave me my third favorite comic book couple with Peter and Kitty (1. Lois & Clark & 2. Conner & Cassie) and it also gave the world Miles. However his run on Superman has been bad and yeah you can reverse it but it will take a lot of work to do that. As I said before what he is doing you would have to either act like his whole time on the book never happened or reboot Superman.

As for DC replacing the heroes of old I always felt if DC wanted to do this they should've done it when Morrison and Johns wanted to replaced the old heroes with Conner, Cassie, Dick and Bart. That I could've been on board with. Dick was going to be Batman and was still supposed to be like a somewhat mentor and Conner was to become Superman, Cassie Wonder Woman, Bart Flash.

In a lot of ways I think it's tough to do one because by design a war flick is gonna have something that makes a certain segment of the audience think it's cool, even if it's unintentional. The author who wrote the autobiographical book Das Boot is based on apparently hates the film because he thinks it glorifies WW2 too much, even though it's one of the few mainstream movies I've seen that really tries to hammer home how stupid and pointless war actually is (especially with the ending).
