Lounge of Justice - Part 90

Honestly, I feel like it's because of the lack of Aunt May/Uncle Ben stuff. Tobey's and Andrew's takes were more grounded by their familial ties. So much of their inspiration came from the regular people in their lives.

Not really any of that with Holland. They tie him more to Tony and I think it just feels too larger than life a connection to be relatable.

That's my take at least.

yup. i think you hit the nail on the head.

raimi and webb did the family dynamics much better.
and thats what grounded it and made me emotionally connect with those movies.
there's less of it there with the mcu spider-man.

I hate MCU Spidey, almost as much as I hate the fact that Captain America and Iron Man are done in that world before fantastic four and xmen are introduced.

F4 and X-Men probably won't happen until the MCU reboots at some future juncture.

Damn. DC and Marvel really going back and forth with one another. CBM fans are going to eat. Also, Blunt and Jim from The Office are an obvious choice for F4, so make it happen goddamn it.

As someone who found Wolverine horribly overexposed at a certain point I really have no issue with them holding off on the X-Men for a while longer.

They're not rebooting, they're already setting up the next generation of heroes/legacy characters.

I'm not suggesting it'll happen right away, particularly if business is still booming over the course of the next 5 years or so. But, as that's yet to be determined, I can definitely see the mouse holding off on X-Men and the like for the time being. It's not like the general audience is clamoring for more Wolverine or what have you, so why not wait it out and see what happens? This way, should the next phase prove less successful than hoped for, you're not stuck with an IP you only just reintroduced. You essentially get to reap all the benefits of a full-blown reboot (access to all your characters and such) w/o having to worry about any of that baggage.

Iunno, I definitely feel like X-Men and F4 are gonna happen before they do any reboots. I also feel like Reed will be a black man.

None of this is based on anything factual. Just a feeling.

Either way they need to cast Cameron Britton as Beast or The Thing.

They haven't proven their reliability yet, right? I loved her in Person of Interest.

They were the ones saying Alexander Skarsgard was gonna be Hawkman. But I hope they're right on this. Sarah Shahi would be awesome.

Casting Jonathan Majors as Kang was interesting given Kang is Reed's descendant. Definitely not concrete or anything (since it's totally possible for a white guy to have a black or mixed race descendant), but I thought the same thing as a possibility.

I weirdly felt Reed would be black prior to the Majors casting and that did give it more weight, but it’s like you said. Anything could happen there.

Only thing I do know is that there’s no way the entire F4 will be white folks. Just can’t see Marvel trying to pull that off in today’s climate.

The only white character will likely be the one whose face is a rock.
