Lounge of Justice - Part 90

Happy Election Day!

I know not everyone who posts in the forum lives in the US, but for the Americans here if you haven’t voted yet please vote today and make your vote count. Getting actual leadership is the first step into getting this pandemic under control enough that we can start enjoying Marvel and DC movies in theaters again but more importantly so we can save Democracy and restore stability and peace to the country. That doesn’t happen if you vote for four more years of this administration. #voteblue

Man, I really hope this doesn’t turn into a nasty political forum. Either way it goes, your day to day life won’t change in America. If you think it will, I feel sorry for you. Politicians have one thing on their mind, and that’s their money. If you think ANY of them have the best interest of America at heart you need to think again. Just saying.

If you feel the pandemic hasn't affected the day to day life in America than I feel sorry for you.
Then, not than. The pandemic would have happened regardless. Let’s circle back around to that when the total US deaths come out at the end of the year and it’s not 250,000 more than last year.

Excess mortality is already 300,000 total higher than this point last year. Also, saying the pandemic would have happened anyway is not the same as discussing how it would have been mitigated once it came to our shores.

Then there's millions who are going to lose their health insurance. And so much more. From the outside, it can be easy to say it won't affect the day to day, and often times that may be the case, but right now, for many reasons, it's not.

eh, the pandemic most likely would've hit here in USA, but the current admin certainly did not help lessen the blow.

in fact, they stymied lot of preventive measures.

there been an obvious failure of central leadership.
like how they let states handle it on their own.
lot of that blame probably goes to jared kushner and how much he has the president's ear.

nepotism. ain't that a b****

From the outside, the US political system seems quite strange. There seem to be a lot of problems, one of which is the erosion of the much vaunted "checks and balances". It seems like since WWII the executive has been steadily growing in power, each president stretching their limits further.
Who sits in the Oval Office has massive ramifications for the entire world, when that much power is concentrated in a single person, their whims affect the lives of billions.
Joe Biden is no angel, but in the US system where third parties are kept out by the big two, he is the only viable alternative.
A typical politician, or a man who publicly defends Putin against the FBI and CIA, who idolises dictators and calls journalists enemies of the people.
I'm worried that it may already be too late to undo the damage he has done your republic, that just voting him out won't be enough, that he has normalised behaviour which will continue to do damage long after he has gone.
His example has already had an impact in other countries, here in the UK, the government has gotten away with things which would have been impossible four years ago by following his lead and simply ignoring conventions and taboos.
I'm not sure exactly how to get out of the hole he's dug, but I believe the first step is to get him to stop digging.
Please Americans, vote for Biden, and then keep a close eye on him.

Got me a nice cigar and japanese whiskey ready to go for today. I’ll be drinkin either way.

Also a bit of fashion GQ type of advise for other brehs here. My girl got me a niche type cologne called Pegasus by perfumes de Marley. So much compliments tis ridiculous. Like goddamn. Wished I knew about this potion before the dominican bomb attached to my neck came to my life. Really pricey tho, but goddamn if yall dont get compliments right away. Even with the mask on.

Why would you write that if you don't want this to turn into a political crap show.

And look, this comes around every 4 years. It's gonna be a topic of discussion for a couple of days.

Had a friend ask me how it feels to be none religious, I told him it was like Neo walking around in the Matrix. I don't believe in my lifetime I will see a presidential candidate who is none religious/100% pro science ever get on the polls. My only hope is for Morpheus to unplug most of the other countries.

ha, here in Japan it's extremely rare to stumble upon religious person so i'm really curious how it's like to live in a religious country.

Do you mean people don't follow a religious or aren't vocal about it?

Eh, a bit more racism and hatred. Certain folks still believe we rode some dinosaurs like them Flintstones and whatnot. Politicians send prayers when mass shooting occur, instead of changing laws. We got various factions of religion tho. Tom Cruise is the messiah for one. lol

I’ve never subscribed to the whole “were the greatest country in the world” propaganda, but if there’s ever a day to point out what a crock of **** that nonsense is, it’s today.

yea, i've always subscribed to the idea that one can love their own country without being jingoist and oafish about it.

also once one thinks they are "the greatest" that's when they start becoming stagnant because they feel they don't gotta improve or learn anything from others.

that's happened to other nations throughout history, to their own peril.
