Lounge of Justice - Part 90

He dances the batusi in edgy "F*** Batman" Titans series where Batman is too violent for a Robin who callously steps on and shatters a downed thug jaw?

i think its a dream sequence and just a fun nod to the old show. lol

also the violent batman in the previous episode in titans was a dream sequence as well.

either way, i feel west's contribution to batman in pop culture can't be denied.
lot of it having to do with the deft skill he portrayed batman & bruce wayne.
not an easy job!

imo, his batman is just as valid as the "serious" portrayals of batman.
i dig both.
i like the dark, serious batman a bit more but west is always fun to watch.

Right, while the tone they went for (which was akin to the tone in the comics at the time) was campy, so much of what pop culture knows about Batman comes from this show: Batman & Robin, Wayne Manor, Commissioner Gordon, Gotham, Riddler, Joker, Penguin, Batgirl, Catwoman, Batmobile, "Dynamic Duo," the bat belt, and much more.

I'm not saying these things didn't exist before then, because of course they did, but this show put it into the popular consciousness to where these are all household names.

the show also put riddler into A-list villain territory because of how well frank gorshin played the role. that's another cool thing about it.

The show, while still dark and pretty brutal (especially the stuff with Deathstroke, who is awesome), has toned down some of the more gratuitous edginess from the first season.

Is S02 of Titans almost done? Waiting for it to arrive on Netflix Canada.

it looks like they are really hitting their stride with season 2, based off some clips i watched.
and yea deathstroke is way way awesome in this.

so is superboy. the actor playing him does a pretty good job. he also looks a bit like a young henry cavill in some angles.

I'm not thinking of season finale with murderous Batman. Some of the people who followed the show said this about the characters before the final episode was released.

One positive thing to happen at least.

Oh snap, i didnt realize Watchmen had such a low audience score on RT (45% audience verses 98% critics).I havent seen the pilot yet but all i thought people were loving it?

Going over to the US next week, anyone have any recommendations for things to do in Boston or New York?

I thought it was OK. I think I'll wait for the end of the season and binge it all

But it had the bad luck of me just finishing Succession which is outstanding so anything I watched after that didn't have much chance

A bunch of racists are reviewing bombing it.

Showing an actual act of white supremacist violence that occurred in history now counts as "pandering to the SJWs" or some other such nonsense.

Watchmen is a political story, what did anyone expect the show was going to be like. Why do people constantly feel the need to look for things to be outraged about. It's getting tiresome of hearing about "SJWs" or "right-wing trolls" or "review bombing" with every other movie or TV show. Anything needs to be politicized now and even with a property like Watchmen that's supposed to be political, people still manage to turn it into a problem. Perhaps at this point social media serves as little more than a platform for people with too much time on their hands to constantly point fingers and feel the obsessive need to give their useless, unimportant, irrelevant opinions about things that have nothing to do with them. Hell of a contribution to human history.

Especially one that apparently a lot of viewers were completely unaware of. I saw one tweet that said that part was the most “ridiculous” and “hardest part to buy” in Watchmen’s alternative history and honestly couldn’t tell if it was sarcasm. Based on the multitudes of other tweets I’ve seen in that vein, I don’t think it was. Who knew this show would be providing some essential education as well?

i liked Hugo!
that was a good movie, i forgotten that scorsese directed that.

also, i think scorsese is mainly criticizing the marvel model of movies and how he feels they are essentially pre-packaged disposable and "safe" entertainment.

he has a right to his opinion and i agree with him to a certain extent, but not 100%.
