Lounge of Justice - Part 90

The SC people are going crazy in the comments. I don't know why they thought they were gonna have it announced for this.
Because they have an inflated sense of their own significance and the visibility of their movement. Just because you get an ad in Times Square doesn’t mean people will care what it’s about.

Kind of hard not to be excited about both shows. "Strange Adventures" sounds like a KINGDOM COME type concept.

Odds are good the GL series will be of considerably higher quality than his current shows, and not as "CW". They're potentially auditioning him to direct one of their big budget feature franchises down the line.

Well, the Green Lantern announcement makes me feel all "the DCEU is truly dead" inside. I never needed a tight continuity like Marvel has, but a slate of films consisting of the main heroes was all I wanted.

Oh well. At least we got Wonder Woman and Aquaman to the big screen first. There were times when they too were being pushed to the small screen.

they just wanna agitate the powers that be so the Snyder Cut will be eventually released.
it is a strategy that has worked for social change movements.

but they employing it to force the release of a movie. lol.

i think it's fun to sit back and watch how funny this really all is.
i do want to see the snyder cut tho.

While I definitely think it’s time for new blood on DC shows, I’m actually cool with Berlanti getting another shot at GL. Supposedly he and Johns were cut out of the creative process pretty early on the movie, and now he’s got the clout (and budget, presumably) to do his version, so it feels like it’s all coming full circle.

There’s really nothing CW about titans or doom patrol

just because the guy makes shows for a certain demographic on the CW doesn’t mean that’s the kind of show he always makes, it simply means that the guy is very good at being given a task and delivering

Them saying Green Lantern is the biggest show they've done has me interested in how much HBO Max will spend on it. There was the report a few months back about how Kevin Feige and Lucasfilm convinced the higher-ups at Disney to give them crazy huge budgets for the upcoming stuff like The Mandalorian, Falcon & Winter Soldier, Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel.

If they really want Green Lantern to be a big flagship series to help sell the service, they might go all out with the budget. Or at least a lot more than what is spent on the usual network superhero shows. GL with Game of Thrones money behind it has potential to be amazing.

Hopefully GL does well enough to convince warner to produce an entire universe of shows on the streaming platform
This has been my dream forever!

But yeah, as much as I look forward to this Supes show, it kinda sucks that he's being left out of this big budget party. I wish they'd at least keep his episode count smaller than the other shows so he could have a bigger per-episode budget.

Very happy about Green Lantern. 13 hour (I’m assuming) big budget series sounds real enticing to me.

Damn DC is just greenlighting shows left and right arent they?

There's really no reason they couldn't make a movie spinning out of the series if it's good.

Lol, what a kick to the groin. Last tweet, they tell you to go to there site hbomax.com for one last surprise. The opening video in the home screen has clips from Justice League and they got me for a second. I thought it was happening.

lol for sure, they are trying to troll the SC cult members there.

I mean, $15 is how much I already pay for HBO. So if I can get more content for the same price, cool.

As far as GL goes, do you think they could Hal justice this time? I doubt he would be the protagonist if he's even there, since convincing those executives to pour all that money into a GL show while using the same character from the bad movie and during a time where more diverse protagonists are needed, seems rather hopeless, but Berlanti is a fan of the Hal Jordan character so maybe he could give him a proper sendoff this time.

Well that Reddit post from DCEU leaks seemed to be largely accurate, and they said this show was gonna be centered around Kyle, so that's who I expect to be the lead in this one. But I don't think Hal will be left out. I think Berlanti will still want to get HIS version of Hal to the screen. Might just save him to be "resurrected" in S2 or something, though.

I want you guys to screenshot and save this post because I’m calling it now. I think in...3-4 years Berlanti is going to produce a full on Justice League TV show. Whether it’ll be on the CW, HBO Max, Cinemax... I dont know, but I’m betting the farm that thats Berlanti’s Endgame and that will be our live action re-do of the JL. Heard it here first.

This is the main thing that's keeping me from being excited. I have a weird paradox going on for me as a Superman fan. I like Hoechlin and all and I think he can and will do good things for the character so I'm looking forward to that, but I hope, overall, the CW stuff doesn't fizzle out on me like it always does. A nicely sized; budgeted HBO series for Superman would have got my juices flowing big time.

I've never been one to flood posts with Release the Snyder Cut stuff but I would be ecstatic if they eventually did. Just like seeing what Dick Donner had intended. I'll admit I was excited for a moment.

Agreed, but ultimately, I'm just happy to have some new Superman content on the horizon. Especially featuring a take on Superman I already know I like, because being in limbo there for the last couple years with nothing to look forward to as a Supes fan was...not a good feeling.

I agree. I think WB kind of owes the Hal Jordan character an apology, but business obviously doesn't work that way. And it's about time Kyle gets some mainstream recognition.
