Lounge of Justice - Part 90

@Spider-Aziz

Have you done the How To Train Your Dragon Trilogy marathon??

I did it last night. It was so amazing. It was really great to watch all three in one go. Made me very emotional.

But I hafta say that I was expecting the threequel to be best of the bunch but the 1st one and it's sequel is better. That's not to say the last one is bad or anything. It was still good but it wasn't exactly a slam dunk emotional conclusion like I was hoping for. I really felt the first two brought more to the table from an emotional point of view.

Either way, HTTYD is a great trilogy. It's a shame these movies never broke out like the Despicable movies :(
I've done it as soon as the third movie came out of theaters to home media, and I loved it. The first is still the best one, but I rank them as 3rd, 1st, and 2nd in order of favorites.

I wish they got enough exposure to be as big as Despicable Me as well, they deserved more recognition that what they received.

I found it kinda distracting how much the villain looks like Peter Cushing as General Tarkin.

Why reboot it ? Introduce the Multiverse & simply designate each DC movie a different Earth

Hey O

This. Call it the DC Movie Multiverse or something to hammer home the message.

Just posted the thoughts/discussion on the Joker in the spoiler thread, finally saw it last night

The point the cinematographer made about the color palate's interesting, haven't seen anyone bringing it up here yet

So apparently HBO Max is absorbing CrunchyRoll? I'm not an anime person, but I have a couple friends who I know will have opinions on that, lol.

Honestly, I think people are underestimating this service at this point. They're gonna have FAR more variety than Disney+, as they'll include HBO, Warner Bros movies, Warner Bros. TV shows (from Friends to Looney Tunes), DC shows and movies, Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS, TruTV, CrunchyRoll + all their original shows.

so when they say they might mak 1-2 DC movies for HBO max do they mean like Netflix doing their films directly released on the streaming service? which is not part of the 2-3 DC films they might release annually in theaters?

Well, Netflix also releases some of those films in theaters a few weeks before their Netflix release, so anything seems possible at this point.

From an anime standpoint they’ll also be the exclusive streaming home for Studio Ghibli. They definitely have my money.

I saw that HBO Max would be free for already subscribed HBO users. So you can get the cable channel and then just get the streaming channel together. I wonder if some of the streaming shows would be available through cable HBO if you already have it. I always prefer to watch something through my cable box than via internet if there's an option.

I also wonder if the comics catalog will still be available with HBO Max.

Between Disney+ and HBO Max, that's a lot of content for a very reasonable price.

I think there's a good chance the GL movie will come from this series.
This is exactly what I hope happens, especially if the show is really well received.

I have strong doubts about the comics portion making the jump over to HBO Max, just because comics viewing is a whole other type of interface to add to the app, and its one that the majority of HBO Max's subscribers probably wouldn't be interested in, so I doubt they'll see it as something worth their time/money to include. I think we have a better chance of a comics-only version of the DC Universe app remaining for a smaller price.

Especially if the rumor that it will star Kyle Rayner is true, as I believe (at least at last update) the pitch for the film was John Stewart with an older veteran Hal Jordan as his mentor.

Those negotiations must've been ongoing, since Wright was the last member of the cast Matt Reeves hadn't personally confirmed on Twitter.

Yeah honestly, I think using Kyle as an entry-point is a cool approach to re-introducing the Lantern mythos. Because, with the Corps temporarily destroyed as it was when Kyle became a Lantern, there was a whole mystery element behind them and behind Hal Jordan that he kind of had to piece together as he went along, so the audience would be right there with him. And of course it takes him on an epic hero's journey where he's the last remaining legacy of the GL Corps, who has to not only learn to be a hero, but also, eventually build back the Corps himself, face the Ghost of Lanterns Past (Hal) and help save him from a dark fate, and basically be the hero of the whole universe, lol.

It would be a very smart approach, despite how much Hal Jordan fans loathe the idea of Emerald Twilight ever being adapted in outside media.

Well they can stick with Geoff Johns' retcon of that event, so when "Evil Hal" does come along in this show, they can make it clear that Hal's not really at the wheel, so to speak. Kyle can "save" Real Hal, who can then be free to go off on adventures in movies with John or whoever.

What was also interesting is that in GL: Rebirth, Kyle was the one who originally discovered Parallax's true nature. Noone believed him at first and the other heroes still thought that Hal had lost his mind, when Kyle is the one who literally went to the other side of the universe and found out that Parallax was a parasitic entity that fed on people's fears and used them as puppets to spread chaos. Lots of possibilities so whatever they do, hopefully they do it justice.

All right, I’m finally gonna ask it: what is the difference between HBO Go, HBO Now and HBO Max? I’m currently an HBO subscriber and I use the HBO GO app to pretty much watch all my content. Is HBO Max going to be an ADDITIONAL subscription for me? Can someone break it down? Lol

I called HBO and they said your subscription has been cancelled.

Like, all of it

HBO Max will be free for you, but you'll still have to download the app and watch their content through that. But your subscription will grant you free access, just as it does with HBO Go.

HBO Go: For cable subscribers only, so they can watch their content on the go. Free with subscription.

HBO Now: For non-cable subscribers who want HBO content, and HBO content only. $14.99/month.

HBO Max: App for all HBO content, WB's back catalogue, content from other WB-owned companies and Max Originals (like Green Lantern). ALSO $14.99/month, or free for cable subscribers.

So why would anyone want to stick with HBO Now or HBO Go after Max comes out?
During an analyst Q&A period, AT&T COO John Stankey confirmed that stand-alone app HBO Now (launched in 2015) and the authenticated HBO Go service for linear subscribers will continue to operate. But he sardonically called it an “IQ test” for customers inclined to compare plain HBO offerings with the dramatically beefier HBO Max, when both cost $15 a month.

So basically, if people want to be idiots and continue to pay the same price for less content, they'll happily let them, lol. But when it launches, HBO Max should be the only app any HBO viewer needs, whether you're a cable subscriber, or paying for it separately.

That's why I find the name HBO Max kinda confusing.
