Lounge of Justice - Part 90

I have yet to watch anything from this. :(

Reynolds had so many bombs I don't know why he never stops mocking GL though, RIPD, romcoms with Sandra Bullock, that film where they had Pa Kent as the villain TLJ as doc, Wonder Woman as his wife, Faora as an assassin, and himself as a memory, that was some CBM cast that bombed really hard as well, even post Deadpool he's not generating any highly profitable products, i.e. Pikachu, just saw he had a film with Michael Bay, and I don't know how that will turn out, likely another bomb

Ay in fairness, barely any star is commanding the box office without a franchise. And while I do agree he had plenty of other bombs, it’s a bit revisionist to me to say GL didn’t have the biggest impact.

Iunno, it’s not like the guy dumps on the character of Hal Jordan or the entire GL mythology. He just craps on a garbage movie that left a bad taste in his mouth. A lot of you do that here for movies you didn’t headline lol.

But his career didn't change? Nobody remembered GL 6 months after its release, and he just kept on making the same crap (with the odd decent indie here and there) he was making before. I mean outside of Deadpool and some interesting smaller movies, the dude has always had terrible taste in projects, and continues to choose mostly crap to this day. He just really struck gold with Deadpool.

@flickchick85 and @Calvin Ellis If you choose to watch that failed Justice League of America pilot, be prepared for some cutaway interviews that break the immersion of scenes and are used to extended the pilot's runtime more than being valuable information presented.

Be entertained by everything else.
I have only seen it once, never bothered with the Extended Cut or whatever the home video version is called.
I didn't know there was any other version of this movie.

The apostrophe is actually there, though.

-edit- Oh nevermind. I was looking at the third panel.
I made the same error before it was pointed out to me by multiple people.

Eh, Reynolds had fewer profitable flicks post GL than he did prior. I'm not saying it was all GL. The film landscape overall was changing at that time. But by his own admission, he had difficulty finding work after.

We can argue whether or not it truly affected him till we're blue in the face, but he himself considers it to have affected him a great deal and he would know better than any of us. For that alone, I don't fault him for dumping on the project.

Eh, it's always easy to blame other things. But you make crap choices before, you make crap choices after, maybe the problem wasn't just that one crap choice.

I just always consider it poor form for actors to flippantly dump on past projects like he does, because they're the ones who had to do the least amount of work to do it and got paid the most. It's disrespectful to the hundreds of other folks who put a lot more hours of hard work into it. Like, it's one thing to talk about it critically in a serious discussion and really analyze what went wrong - I've got no issues with that. But to constantly use it as your own personal punching bag for PR brownie points is just tacky, imo.

Yup, imagine the hundreds of behind the scene workers who worked days and nights on the project, and now seeing him dumping on their work every few months to appear too cool for school to prop his only well received character. He’s made it big time now, stop being so pity and knock on one of your employers (Pikachu was made by WB) and bottom of the chain workers

Lol, I can't help but find it funny. We dump on those same projects here and we're the least impacted by them. Like I've never seen anyone hold their tongue about BvS, because the crew worked so hard on it. Interesting to me how we expect more from the folks who actually take the hit and don't believe them when they claim they actually got hit.

But whatevs, he's fine now. It's not a big deal to me.

no one is personally insulting the crew who worked hard and were compensated for their services on the film. And most of those people view it as a job, just like any other paying gig.

Now the creatives on that film and their handling/butchering of the initial script, well........ they are just gonna have to continue eating the humble pie until the HBO MAX show debuts. Its been 8 years, I think they can live with it for another year or 2.

Does anyone else hear a change of accent in Cavill's lines in the Witcher's trailer?

To be fair, I doubt WB seems to care since they've made the same jokes in their own products.

I doubt there's some legions of people who worked on Green Lantern who are super proud of it and get upset whenever someone makes fun of it.

It's also kinda funny because it's logic that could be applied to literally every movie ever made. It's not like there are people out here saying it's bad to make fun of Tom Cruise's The Mummy because we're sure the gofer worked really hard to bring Tom his coffee in the desert.

We didn’t work with those people and sit on our piles of millions and kick downwards. No one cares what we have to say about anything because we aren’t famous celebs, we had nothing to do with it, and it’s not PR spin for us. But it’s fine, I ain’t mad and don’t care about him either way, just think it’s unprofessional whenever famous actors do this is all. I’d think the same thing if Batfleck started joking this way about BvS in a few years on his come back tour. It’s not like I’m speaking from some place of hidden affection for the GL movie, lol. But I ain’t about to feel sorry for Reynolds in any capacity whatsoever.

On that subject I feel like there's gonna be an amazing book or documentary about the behind the scenes drama on the DC films one day.

he get to bang blake lively and make babies with her because of GL.
me am no feel sorry for mr. reynolds.
not one bit.

sometimes one must remain stoic in the face of circumstances.
because something "bad" at first might have good consequences later.
and something that appears "good" might have unforeseen bad consequences in the future.

i do feel some of the jokes he makes about his time in GL were funny, but it might be starting to become a tired gag.

i feel more sorry for pete sarsgaard because he had to be hector hammond with his humpty dumpty look and weak arc. a thankless role.

angela bassett (the queen of gilfs) was also wasted as amanda waller. luckily she was queen mother in BP - her cbm rebound.

I’ve worked with many good people on jobs that have afforded me more money than I thought I could ever make at that age. Still a wack job tho lol. It’s not a slight against my co-workers or anything. Job just sucked.
