I enjoyed Endgame for what it was, but did consider it flawed in ways. I think The Last Jedi was the most questionable one for me in recent releases. Of course, I don't go around Star Wars film forums and post my hate for Rian Johnson. I shrugged it off and tried to look forward to the next SW movie. I didn't let TLJ keep me from going to see Knives Out and enjoying that film. I'm actually happy that some people got something out of that film and that it worked for them. I don't put much into Rotten Tomatoes or other review sites. I just watch it for myself and come to an opinion on my own. That being said, I have heard from a few reviewers that they do have to consider pulling their punches towards certain films by a certain company or risk not being invited to screenings. It has also been reported back in 2017 that Disney blacklisted certain media groups from attending advanced screenings because of an article they posted about Disney's business practices. The only reason why they overturned that is due to the scope of the blacklist and it got pushed out in the open. I'm willing to bet that it still does happen on a more micro scale though.

Yea, I've heard some journalists saying people write their reviews in a certain way to get those screening invitations. It's not a secter anymore. As well as media getting paid by Disney for those "masterpiece" articles.

I enjoyed the second act of Endgame very much, the time-travel part, the last battle was horribly structured and the beginning I can't honestly even recall what that was about... Oh that I love you 3000 cringe.

Endgame was a masterpiece compared to TLJ though. I criticize MCU a lot, but no question I'd take a Russo SW flick instead of TLJ any fricking given second in the eternity.

I'm trying not to be judgemental about Johnson, but the way he f***ed up Star Wars and how he acts on twitter... Jeez.

This movie is so stupid that Oscar Isaac giving someone "do me" eyes and GETTING REJECTED is not even the dumbest thing here.

This was so bad it made BvS and Squad look good. I was bored more than during TLJ,. TLJ was at least a movie, THIS was more mangled than Palpatine

If he can just start a new slate and play it safe, it would probably work. If he has to spend the first half of the film retconning everything that happened from BvS to JL, then it's gonna end up like TRoS.

Retcons are overrated imo. Just tell the story you want to tell. If it means bending/breaking continuity then whatever. Better than apologizing for an hour over what happened before.

The problem is JJ made this movie as if he made the previous one and it was all set up. At least three major things happen here that just happen out of nowhere. And there are blatant digs at TLJ that even to me, someone who hated it, were in poor taste

For me the only movies by JJ I like are M:I III and Star Trek (the first one) and Cloverfield. Really for the rest of the Star Trek and Star Wars series they were all just updated remakes.

I would still put the blame on RJ lol, I mean he basically derailed the whole franchise and baited one of the biggest figures in Hollywood scramble like an idiot and losing his temper

Ya I was thinking that, I think Colin Trevor something was suppose to direct the last one? So it was always planned to be 3 different directors, not sure what really went down, CT hated TLJ or his own vision is just not accepted by Kennedy, who was fine with TLJ (controversial af) and TFA (vanilla af), which is odd.

I only watched those movies for Oscar, I'm not a big SW fan but they truly disgraced the original trilogy. There is so much wrong here. They basically render Anakin's reasoning for going to the dark side and the prophecy stuff useless. I am writing my review for my blog and so far I have 13 paragraphs just pointing out implausible and awful script ideas

Also - it rips off Iron Man's final line in Endgame AND there is a scene exactly like in Aquaman lol I'm not saying it stole it because it's a pretty standard scene but I was amusing myself during this movie doing 2 things:

1. Staring at Oscar

Well, I thought TLJ script was a total mess, structure/story-wise. I'm really not exaggerating here, the story was bouncing completely all over the place, had so many pointless scenes, if TRoS is even worse then... I literally suffered during TLJ, this will be some serious purgatory.

I'm not a big SW fan but they truly disgraced the original trilogy.

I'm a huge SW fan, so... And also a huge Star Trek fan... Heh, so yeah, everything makes sense, I should start believing in some religious something, since he's coming to DC, to complete the destruction of my fave franchises, one by one. Abrams is like my karmic punishment or something.

I don't blame Abrams or Rian but I do blame whoever was in charge and:

1. Didn't map out the story for the trilogy
2. Approved Rian doing what he did
3. Didn't just give Rian the third one. At least if Rian was doing it it would be a continuation of TLJ, JJ just ignored TLJ and added digs at it which are really embarrassing. It's kinda like if Whedon made fun of what happened in BvS in JL. I didn''t see these two in a long time so I don't remember if this was a case but TROS has a scene with Luke that is such a blatant dig at TLJ it was honestly painful to watch. Not only do we have a trilogy where every movie is just winging it but the director is actively making fun of the one who made the movie before him
