Happy New Year!

Did you enjoy the election fever and the humidity and the thick air and the amazing food that makes you sick for a day then all good to go? Ha. I noticed the caterpillar on my second viewing lol

thomas haden church as sandman was really good. he was one of the few aspects of SM3 that i liked.

I feel the entire movie would've been improved by removing the Venom stuff and just focusing on that.

I'm quite interested to see Black Mask in this. I'm actually glad it seems he won't be wearing the skull face for most of his screen time, it would defeat the point of getting as good an actor as McGregor.

I liked Sandman too. I think with the first two films you could tell that Raimi had more creative freedom, he said he was influenced by the original Lee/Ditko ASM run and that was clear, he certainly wasn't inspired by Bendis' USM run or other modern portrayals. Hence the throwback tone that was mentioned earlier. Once Raimi was told to bring in Venom, since he arguably became the most popular Marvel character in the 90s, then it was obvious he couldn't find the right place for him. That's why Venom felt both underused and shoehorned into the story at the same time. I think that if it was Sandman-only without even changing anything about his story, it would've been much better received. And I wasn't even a big fan of the burglar retcon, but it could've seem less out of place if the movie wasn't so overstuffed.

Dunst's MJ got worse with each movie. Her romance with Peter was unbearable by the third film.

Can we get a #releasetheRaimicut trending of Spiderman 3 if this is going to become a thing?

#releasetheWebbcut for TASM2
These will be two new movies from the ground up.

I think Doc Ock still has to be the best character in the Raimi trilogy. Probably the one and only time I enjoyed that character. Same with Keaton's Vulture.
You didn't like these two characters in Spectacular animated series?

yea i was in taipei most of the time, election billboards for kmt and dpp candidates were everywhere.

it got pretty humid at times and i got bitten by mosquitoes at a park a good amount, but it wasn't too bad.
when i get bitten by mosquitoes in the usa, they actually seem worse. lol

the food is always amazing - i don't get sick from it at all.
stinky tofu and beef noodle soup!
i also ate alot of pasta and japanese food there - lot of teppanyaki.
taiwan is a food lover's dream.
a coffee lover's too - so many coffee shops there. (cama cafe and louisa...and also starbucks, lol)

i wasn't familiar with the shazam comics, so i had to look up what that caterpillar was about.
if they are following through on that, the sequel is going to be wild.
i hope they fully embrace that crazy comic bookey weirdness.

I guess I did, but I remember not being a big fan of the classic Spidey rogue gallery in the past. As a 90s kid I was much more into Venom and the symbiote story, or Kraven's Last Hunt that made Kraven a total badass, so I thought villains like Doc Ock, a pudgy mad scientist with a bowl cut, goggles and 4 mechanical arms, just didn't appeal to me. The guy's freaking name is "Otto Octavius", thought it went way back to the whole "boomer" thing mentioned earlier. Same with Rhino, Shocker, Vulture, Scorpion, etc. Then Alfred Molina's portrayal totally changed my mind and I was much more open-minded about seeing more of the classic villains in modern adaptations.

Classic rogues are fun. It's the movie version of Doc Ock that I can't take seriously at all, the extension of his arms is too limited, they are too slow for someone who should stand toe-to-toe against Spider-Man, and received way too much punishment for his constitution to be able to handle.
And his conversion to villainy was "I must die." followed very shortly by "My tentacles tell me to be evil, fine, I'm evil with a smile as I threaten people lives".

The appeal of Ock as a true threat always came from how dangerous he is controlling his fast moving tentacles with their extended reach, keeping Spider-Man at bay more than Spider-Man being able to land punches, cause just one is all it takes to knock the good doctor down.

You can always rewatch MoS and BvS.
I wish they were really as great as you believe them to be.
MoS is like Mortal Kombat; silly and entertaining.
BvS is the Prometheus of CBMs, stupid characters making a lot of stupid decisions.

Rofl, those WW3 memes are hilarious, at least there will be some fun before we die.

Going through that Bond thread and it reminded me of the time I pitched a James Bond Adult type spoof. It was for a company based in canada. Their version of hbo/showtime after dark. I even had the bond girl aka love interest ready, she fairly known by now on certain sites. Long story short, it was out of budget and the main boss suit gal wasnt having it. It would’ve only aired on thursdays after midnight.

Saw Fallout again last night, noticed the credit for JJ and Bad Robot lol

Maybe JJ with his clout and enthusiasm can get Sup off the ground, have an upcoming director there from the start to take over Matt Reeves style after the first one, so the vision is cohesive unlike the hard lessons they just learnt.

Get him to produce GLC and get McQuarrie to give them the scripts for both Sup and GLC, get access to MI cast and composers, Sean Harris is totally Sinestro, Tom can be a senior Hal, maybe the SW guy as John, Ferguson as Carol. The Variety puff piece did mention they were talking to JJ re producing GLC, and they were chasing McQ and TC for a while last 2 years

And Anna de...something she lost the Catwoman role, thought they should offer her Jessica Cruz or Poison Ivy, Ivy as a sexy Latino hanging out with Margot would be amazing

and hope they get Vanessa Kirby something, and Alicia Vikander can spin off and headline the Hawks as Sheila or something, not Kendra
