we have a "shelter in place" order here now in northern california.
we can still leave the home to go for walks to the park, essentials - like buying groceries, etc
but no big groups - stay 1.8 meters away from others.
restaurants are still open but doing delivery or to go only.
but my wife said she saw a couple near us with customers sitting inside (that's probably illegal).
only groceries and pharmarcies are still running.
my spouse and i are working from home now - just got our remote connection set up just last evening.
i am still expected to go into the office in shifts only a handful of times this next few weeks (one worker in the office at the time). but people are sort of following these guidelines only loosely.
my son's school is closed but he still has to do his classwork + homework.
that's like pulling teeth. dood just wanna keep watching tv right now.
are you and your family self-isolating now?
the cdc sent incomplete test kits to our state - the government has botched their response to this.
an outbreak is probably imminent, they are just trying to lessen the severity of it at this point so it doesn't overload our hospitals.
but the gov't did announce they should be sending in $1000 checks to every household soon to help with this - so we'll see how that goes. i'm gonna save that money to pay for mortgage and food!
stay safe everyone!
So you guys take measuring tape out as well, or keep it straight so you know what 1.8m is? =P
sounds pretty full on over there, so it will go on for 3 more weeks? I guess that's containing it after a botched up job at the start, cdc said will finish around July/August at the earliest, I wonder what will happen between April and August? resume normal activities while all borders are closed? Death of globalization I guess.
Are they really gonna do those drive through tests AND free for EVERYONE? I reckon doing it for everyone's a bit excessive, don't have the resource/staff for that, maybe all close contacts...
Is $1000 a one off? Our govt announced $585 NZD per week for affected people I think, that's about half of above average incomes so probably have to use annual leave or work something out with the bosses...
NZ has been isolating close contacts for the last 3 weeks and only started testing close contacts from 2 days ago, we still have 1000 travellers entering per day supposedly "self isolating" while on holiday, police can check them and deport them if not compliant, and still working on how to penalize them...we just had 2-3 cases detected in my province since they ramped up the tests to 500 per day and 1-2 of them might be in my city, a city council staff apparently, hope he's just writing tickets around the block....1/3 of my patients cancelled and colleagues were talking about visiting their places for treatments, I was like WTF should be the other way round you don't know if they're infected in the households or not....
we're all living as normal for now but I'm concerned seeing at least 5-10 patients per day, I put my chair 2m away from my desk but half of them kept on bringing the chair right next to me....social distancing man....and no masks lol...i reckon it works better if the whole community wears it...so if you have it and don't know, you don't spit it onto everyone else...but westerners....and daughter goes to kindy, so all kinda worried but can't really do much. manager had a meltdown and is gone for 4 days to get his mental health back on track, he's in the process of taking over the business but now this, lol
Edit: and I see Canada closed its borders, funny how it was racism for closing it against China, now they close it against the whole planet, speci-ism against homosapiens?
