Lounge of Justice - Part 90

Didn't realize they got Ken Lashley to do art for Fandome.

Nolan is one of the all-time greats, but this whole thing has made me lose respect for him. Seriously. Delaying the damn movie wasn't gonna kill him.

agreed.

I see this seems to be a meme.

What's the original context? It's that even Cruise?

Good times, eh? Wonder if my initial major exposure to this character being during the brief period of time when he was outselling Batman has artificially inflated my conceptions about Hal Jordan's overall status in the DCU. He's easily been one of DC's top characters but his shafting at Fandome, even as part of a line-up he founded, among many other examples in recent years, shows he clearly won't always be one of DC's top characters, especially nowadays when a concentrated effort is being made to highlight more diverse protagonists.

I have never been a fan of the interchangeable nature of the Green Lanterns and I've had irrational levels of disdain towards the argument that Hal Jordan can't be part of a Justice League line-up because of some cartoon show from 2 decades ago, but maybe this shows me I'm going about it the wrong way. Maybe there are no sacred cows at DC at this point, or at least in a franchise such as GL. Maybe the character has had his time and the business folks at WB don't find any value in him at this point in time.

The point of this rambling being that sometimes I have a hard time when I feel like characters that I enjoy are being mistreated and also having to keep in mind that these are just corporate properties whose fate solely depends on the bottomline TPTB does or doesn't see in them. Basically I'm asking how do I handle stuff like this better so I don't bore you folks to tears anytime something lets me down about characters I'm invested in.

Thanks, @Last Of Krypton That's really cool. Is there a link to that article?
I forgot to add the link.
Here it is:
DC FanDome Generates Massive 22 Million Global Views

Variety also has an article about it:
DC FanDome Drew 22 Million Views — Here’s How Warner Bros. Pulled it Off

The DC FanDome event on Saturday was a grand experiment by WarnerMedia to see if DC Comics fans would congregate virtually for what amounted to an eight-hour string of programming about DC’s movies, TV shows and video games.

“We really wanted to put together an event that would super-serve the fans,” Warner Bros. TV group president and chief marketing officer Lisa Gregorian tells Variety.

It appears that experiment was a resounding success.

According to the studio, the DC FanDome: Hall of Heroes event generated 22 million views across 220 countries and territories over its 24-hour run, via the in-house player, live streams by comic book influencers, and other content generated by fans watching the event.

The film, TV, and video game trailers released during DC FanDome — including for “Wonder Woman 1984,” “The Batman,” and the Snyder Cut of “Justice League” — have pulled in over 150 million views since Saturday.

And DC FanDome trended on Twitter in 53 markets, and on YouTube in 82 markets.

Seems like a huge success.

Damn, all the NBA games today are postponed because players are boycotting.

This is why I disagreed with Kyrie Irving. The players have a bigger platform if they are on a national stage. So boycotting now has a bigger impact and reach than had they never come back to play at all.

And now the Brewers are boycotting their game tonight. Wouldn't be happening if the NBA hadn't come back.

I have to say, as a non-American what's happening in the US right now seems absolutely insane. The shooting of Jacob Blake is just the most recent example. And now, on top of that, this Trump supporter twerp (confirmed he was in the front row at a Trump rally earlier this year) killed two more people. I really hope that at least Trump's reign ends because otherwise I also see bad outcomes for my country and for Europe in general (if Trump gets 4 more years then Putin can pretty much do whatever he wants).
