I'll probably go Jack Sparrow on that one.

All theaters are closed again here and got my Spidey tickets refunded this morning.

You know, thats one spoiler I'm actually glad i know in advance because boy it would've probably frustrated me in theater. At least now i can brace myself for it.

Maaaannnn the hardcore Snyder fans are gonna be pissssed.

They were crying on Twitter all day...I kind of enjoyed their tears! (The jerky ones not the cool ones)

Most people I know seemed to enjoy it enough. 3/5s and such.

I’ve got Matrix tickets booked for just after Xmas.

Why don’t Snyder fans understand that Ben Affleck would rather be in bed making sweet love to Jlo again than be in a suit as Batman for another film? :o

I mean, I'm gonna ask this sincerely, but was there anybody who actually seriously thought Ben would be coming back beyond Flash? Especially after that recent interview?

They did. The Super Snyder Bros are Q level crazy and I'm only partially being hyperbolic. Not people here mind you..

Affleck probably dislikes them more than the people who hate his Batman. They are nuts. Plus yeah I would rather stay home with JLO than be Batman!

Ben's been done with this superhero thing since 2017. He came back for ZSJL as a favor to Zack whom he worked well with and plus I imagine it was only like 2 days of filming for him.

Then for The Flash I think they begged him to come back and backed up the money truck and he told them "this is the final time and I want to you to end my character," ...pretty much what Daniel Craig told MGM for NTTD. But Ben does not wanna do this thing anymore and I say let the man live and do what he wants.

Ben's getting "graceful exit" from the franchise. Which means he's getting some important part in The Flash movie and going out without killing off his version of the character, WB can easily recast him down the line (after few years) as I don't see Michael Keaton playing Batman for more than few movies.

Since we are getting a new Batman (Pattinson), WB don't want to recast Ben Affleck's Batman now as it will draw away attention from Pattinson's Batman (since that would be two new actors playing Batman)

I think Keaton will appear in 3/4 movies at the most.

I don't think Keaton will be suiting up as Batman after The Flash. They might de-age him for a scene or two, but he'll definitely be Old Man Wayne moving forward.

WB now have Keaton and Pattinson. Batfleck fans need to be grateful for what they have and let the man move on without constant twitter hashtags and petitions.

.
A “graceful exit” could still apply to killing him off. If it’s a dignified death that’s emotional and serves the story instead of a throwaway death then that still definitely counts as a graceful exit. If Ben Affleck Batman sacrifices his life in order to save Miller’s Flash or somebody else I think that would be a graceful exit.

I'm just really wondering how all these moving parts are going to provide for a coherent narrative in this Flash movie.

Could be, after all this is WB.... but what are their long term plans ? I mean, what after Matt Reeves completes his trilogy in next 4 years ? (though I doubt it as Matt Reeves takes lot more time planning and writing his movies.)

What if after 4 movies, Keaton decides that he's done with Batman (Keaton's already appearing in two movies next year) So, they will be facing a situation where there's no Batman as both Keaton and Batfleck are out.

Which is why I doubt they will kill off Batfleck's version of Batman (they can recast, as I said in my earlier post), but who knows ? WB have taken lot of bad decisions. Maybe they will just Reboot the whole thing.

Of course they "reboot"...i dont know why people think anything from snyders murky, depressing timeline will stay.
There will be nothing after WW3, Aquaman 3, after Afflecks final 10-20 minutes in Flash.
They will not just "recast", they will create a new main continuity.

The question is only, if they have learned their lesson this time.

Reports are he dies. They don't need him.

It won't be coherent but I don't think it is supposed to be. I think they are embracing the crazy.

Imma be honest, I very much doubt any future plans for Batfleck are in consideration for this move. Like I've said previously, they were dragged kicking and screaming into this "Multiverse" approach because Ben didn't wanna be Batman anymore and Reeves had no interest in making his movie part of the existing shared universe. They have their youthful, running Batman now in Pattinson. I doubt they plan to have two dueling series of Batman flicks coming out, but I could be wrong.*

I can absolutely see Batfleck going out in Flash, especially since the director has previously said Ben provides a major part of the movie's emotional hook.

(* And before people start screaming "Joker!" that was intended as a one-off and it was already clear the franchise was moving on from Leto by the time it dropped anyway.)

Wait are there fans who still think this is because of dastardly WB and not Ben repeatedly saying he's done with big IP blockbusters?

Personally I think think Affleck leaving is the partly the result of seeing what WB's did to Justice League. That seeing how they butchered another directors work made him wary of investing his time and effort in a film that might get mutilated in the same way.

I imagine WB will have expended a lot of effort trying to get Bale back before turning to Keaton.

Personally, I would have preferred if they had got the route of Sasha Calle's Supergirl and just brought in someone new rather than trying to leverage nostalgia. It would also have allowed them to do something less traditional, if you are doing multiverse, bring in some elseworlds version of Batman.

As for Batgirl, just let them bring in someone new, audiences will understand.

The way Muschietti talked about it I doubt Bale was in contention. He seemed to have wanted Keaton from the start. That was apparently his idea rather than having Thomas Wayne be the alternate Batman.

Don't take this the wrong way, but that is sounding Snyder Fanboy wishing. Affleck was out the door the second BvS was destroyed by critics and fans. (he took it very hard) If JL had been delayed instead of rushed out to try and mitigate the BvS disaster he would have found a way out of it or to end his portrayal in it. Even the Snyder scenes in JL he is basically mailing it in. (Josstice League is...well best left untalked about) He believed in the Snyder version but he saw pretty clearly the majority of the fans did not.

He wanted out because it didn't work not because WB meddled. He is smart enough to know if WB hadn't meddled it would have changed next to nothing with critics and most fans.

Bale had been saying no since MOS. He is loyal to Nolan.

I wish Batfleck had worked out...it could have been great. Snyder really killed a lot of opportunities for great stories because he never quite got the universe at all.

The truth is we don’t know the exact reason Ben is over it all. Folks who don’t like Snyder’s work will say it’s the BvS reception. Folks who do like Snyder’s work will say it’s because of WB meddling with films.

The only thing we actually know is that he got burnt out by IP films. No real point in speculating on his inner most thoughts beyond that. None of us know him.

The true answer is JLO, clearly. :o

Eh, I didn't want old man Keaton to be the new Batman going forward. I would've preferred a recast with Jon Hamm as the new Batfleck going forward. But it is what it is.

I also must be a cold hearted bastah but the new Spidey did nothin for me. I didn't hate it, but it was fine. Marisa Tomei tho! Sweet baby Jesus. If that was my aunt, we might need to go to an island somewhere where we wouldn't be judged, cause I'm a sinner.

About to drive over 6 hours for a fam get together.

Stay safe.

Also, that nun lesbian movie directed by Paul Verhoeven is goddamn masterpiece. In my top 10 of the year.
