Lounge of Justice - Part 90

And yet, that's Venn diagram with very little overlap.

I remember one of the most ardent pro-Snyder peeps on here was obsessed with hating on TLJ and veered into some outright Fandom Menace style crap about straight white males at times. Twas strange.

Current Star Wars >>> Current Trek imo. Though I am still looking forward to Strange New Worlds a great deal.

Dave Filoni is pretty much the best thing to happen to Star Wars as far as I’m concerned.

I agree but I do really like Lower Decks, at least.

I personally hated TLJ but I get why others like it and there are parts that are ok. I think that film was out of place personally and it became clear about halfway through RJ kind of lost where he was going because that is when things just got bizarre and made no sense. He would have been better off making a film with new characters imho.

Same holds true for Solo. Solo on its own is not a horrible film, but Han Solo and Lando did not fit the story and really dragged it down. (along with Game of Thrones Lady who was just downright awful) If the film had just been about a random group of thieves and scoundrels in the time of The Empire it could have been really interesting and set up a whole new section of the known timeline. Instead it became "see this is why Han said or did this" and "HEY LOOK ITS DARTH MAUL!!1!!".

Honestly none of Di$ney War$ is rewatchable in my eyes which is just crazy I can even rewatch Attack of the Clones if asked too. I might be able to rewatch Rogue One but that is only because the battle at the end is fun. 90% of that film including the entire motivation of the story AND the shoehorning in of Vader right before Star Wars was pure and utter trash. My buddy literally fell asleep in a mid day showing when we saw it.

I like Discovery and Picard personally...and will take them over every Star Wars film that has come out since Revenge of the Sith.

how is discovery. I watched the first season and found it enjoyable but season 2 lost me.

Ive never watched pickard

Season 2 was weird but I loved how the new captain (no spoilers for those that havent watched) worked in and I can't wait for his show with his crew...season 3 I loved to death but it gets pretty strange. If you didn't like Season 2 it might be tough to make it to the end of 3 but the end is great imho.

Picard is very slow and deliberate but the cast is great especially PS. I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Personally, what I like the best is neither are trying to be Next Gen or its spinoffs they are telling their own tales in their own way.

I was talking about the TV shows. Boba Fett and Mando I’d take over Picard and Discovery any day. Though Boba Fett was uneven and poorly-paced in the beginning, Picard was uneven and poorly-paced throughout, imo. I enjoyed the first 2 seasons of Discovery well enough, but not nearly as much as Mando.

Still need to watch Lower Decks, though. Just talking live-action shows right now.

So.....is it blasphemous to say that I struggled with Dune? Its no doubt an audio-visual masterpiece but the story momentum and characters I really had a hard time grasping onto. The subject matter just may not be my cup of tea, perhaps. I struggled with Lynch's 1984 original too. I'm a huge Villaneuve fan but this was the first time I didn't love one of his movies. I will watch part 2 though and maybe I just need to see how the story plays out.

Did you watch it on IMAX?

See, I'm in the position where I like both Zack Snyder and Rian Johnson as filmmakers.

I just like or dislike movies of theirs on a film-to-film basis.

With Snyder
  • Love Man of Steel
  • Have very mixed opinions on Batman v Superman
  • Was really touched by his cut of Justice League
With Johnson
  • Adore Knives Out
  • Think Looper is really underrated
  • Utterly loathe The Last Jedi, along with the rest of the sequel trilogy
But hey, for all my problems with TLJ, it's still a better movie than The Rise of Skywalker.

I sure did and im glad I did. Really enhanced the audio visual experience. I just…struggled with the story, pacing and characters.
Huh. Well to each their own, then. :) I saw it 4 times in the format and was riveted the whole way through. I don't think I've ever had such an immersive moviegoing experience in my life.

I’m gonna watch it again, i didnt hate it at all, just felt didnt feel invested in the story really but that may not be the movie’s fault but the source material. I got Dune on audiobook and having a hard time getting into that also.

As a fan of the new movie adaption I say; enjoy. Think of it like this, it might help add to the experience:
  • Cable took the role that belonged to Charles Xavier in 1984.
  • Aquaman in a desert area thanking someone for sharing their body fluid via spit.
  • Ace pilot Po Dameron wished he was a pilot.

I think there was humor in the casting with some of the lines given to some of the characters, and I probably missed a few, or some will be saved for the future in the sequel.

Promo pic for The Batman looks cool...

Pretty sure I do...Affleck couldn't even make his half smile look sincere. Such a wasted cast...

I'm sure you guys have all heard about the CCP's ending for fight club, well heres the one for Dark Knight Rises, it cuts out roughly 160 minutes of the film.
