I never liked any of them either. At all. But the recent ones are really pretty good so far.I never liked the PotA movies, skipped Burtons and the last one and will likely skip the new one.

The original Rod Serling penned Apes film is just utterly amazing. Truly, the cream of the crop for me. Granted, all the other ones in that series are mediocre to terrible. Rise was a pleasant surprise though and I look forward to catching Dawn sometime this week.
