Sorry you where right she was born in Harlem then her mother and father moved to Egypt.

I agree. I don't think Will Smith is such the great actor that people make him out to be and IMO I wouldn't want him playing any marvel hero. Booker T might fit cage physically, but i don't think he can act other than in a crowd of wrestling fans. Body slam someone sure, but i don't know about acting. Which brings back Terry Crewes. At least he has acting experience somewhat, if only in comedies.I think if he got a chance to do a serious role. He could do a great job.

Check out his stuff on Everybody hates Chris. He's very good in it without being goofy at all. And at 6'2" 250 lbs he already has the super physique.

I think what Will said is true and kind of speaks to stereotypes in comics. There aren't any well known African American superheroes that don't have that "urban" vibe. So ultimately, he was right to say none suit him.

but playing a homeless, booze drinking, need to be put in jail, mean spirited, careless one in Handcock does??? Hmmmm i don't get that!Thats why i dont like that guy as an actor.

Luke was framed for a crime he didn't commit and though he might have took money(usually from those that could afford it). He helped alot of ones who couldn't just from his heart. Cage might have that urban vibe to him , but there was alot more to him than just that.just my 2 cents

Thanks. yeah I have seen him a couple times on that show. thats' why he gets my vote as Luke Cage. I think he would be great.

yep they should tottally got woth him for luke cage

It was his little appearance in Training Day that did it for me. Seeing him as a seriously threatening gang member made me think that he could have potential if given the right material. He can be pretty tough when need to be, funny when he has to be, and the father figure/leader if they ever go down that road.

Will wouldn't look good in Storm's costume. :woot:

Seriously, Storm and BP are African, not African American.

Brother Voodoo isn't very well known, and he's Haitian, not African American.

Rhodey is definitely hood. He's a tough guy from south Philly. He interacted with gangs, and eventually joined the military to escape the streets, and "make something of him self". The movie didn't mention that side, but comic Rhodey is definitely hood.

Ok, I see your point.

I realise that they are DC characters, but...

Jefferson Pierce (Black Lightning) may live and teach in Suicide Slum (when he isn't Lex Luthor's Secretary of Eduacation), but he was born and raised in Suburbia (Menomenee Falls, Wisconsin, to be exact)

Eva Pigford (Vixen) was born and raised in Midtown Manhattan, not Harlem, Washington Heights, or the South Bronx, the and Post-Crisis on Infinite Earths is the daughter of a stock broker and a commercial graphic artist.

Mister Terrific III hales from Rural Minnesota.

The only African-American DC superheroes I can think of (off the top of my head) that come straight from the slums with an attitude to match are Green Lantern John Stewart (born in Harlem, and like Jim Rhodes joined the Marines to escape the streets) and Mister Miracle II, who was born in the South Side of Chicago.

put Cage in the Avengers, then spinoff his solo flick...

Except that Cage was never in the Avengers until New Avengers.

Cage has Avengers cred to the utmost.. yeah.. Nick Fury can recruit him in secret... especially if Thor ends up not being used.. they need another strongman besides Hulk..

So who should play Diamond Back? Terrence Howard was the first choice by John Singleton. But he's already playing a Marvel character.

So who should play Diamond Back?

Idris Elba.

...sucks that there's been no movement on this.. it had better happen soon..

Anthony Ray Parker is another guy that I think would make a great Luke Cage. You may remember him as Dozer from The Matrix.

I like Terry Crewes or Anthony Ray Parker for an ensemble Heroes for Hire pic.

An unknown would probably be best for a solo film. Not to play social engineer here, but, now that he's no longer a tiara-wearing blaxploitation figure, Luke Cage is becoming a prominent figure at Marvel and (arguably) an iconic character. Picking a rapper or established movie star-type actor? Makes them the focus, not the character.

Game can't act

true But give the guy a chance , give him 34 pound more, some acting lesson and he might do something good

Btw I was the first to point out terry crew (check the previous thread). But I change My mind. The problem with terry is that he got cheap by the years doing too much comedy. I'M afraid the movie will suck

Actors can do both comedy and action. Hell, Jamie Foxx did a bunch of comedies before he won an oscar for a dramatic role.
