Can't wait until we see Luke!

They are obviously hiding him from the marketing for a reason. They want the audience to cheer loudly when we do see him toward the end of the film or boo him for giving himself to the Dark Side

I've said this before, but Luke's denial of the dark side in ROTJ was too hard won for him to give it up, even if it is decades later. He literally chooses certain death over evil and killing his father, a man who by all rights deserved to die.

I know [BLACKOUT]we won't see Luke till the very end and he will probably have like one scene, im assuming Ren lives beyond this film[/BLACKOUT]

Also I know that will make Luke extremely powerful, but Luke should be very powerful and just because Ren is nothing to him doesn't mean other things like Snoke can't cause him danger.

Well of course, that's what I said. I was mainly responding to the Luke vs Kylo thing.

Fans would have JJ's head on a platter if he made Luke evil. Nobody wants to sit through *another* 'Skywalker redemption' arc. They already did that with Anakin/ Vader.

What if it happens with Kylo?

Well, here's my opinion on having someone who could be a Jacen Solo analog (strictly speculation! I haven't even read the reddit stuff!) have a dark side to light side redemption arc:

The biggest problem with the end of the EU series where Jacen went bad was how they had everybody give up on him turning to the light again, added with giving him just a tiny bit of ambiguity in his last scenes (selfish, protect-my-daughter-ambiguity, but still having him spend all his energy doing that instead of killing his sister when she left him an opening).

If they want to re-examine that arc, I think they should either show the darksider considering the option of turning good, want it, then reject it and embrace villainy so hard he becomes a sad nightmare, or show someone getting converted to the light and having to put up with the consequences for their actions, like life imprisonment, or execution.

Jacen was handled by that POS Troy Denning. His solution to everything was "kill them off". Jacen took Anakin Solo's place after the NJO event, only to have him turn dark for a very idiotic reason just to have a Darth that is a Skywalker.

The Legacy of the Force was so unbelievably bad, it negated all the good that came before it and in the long run made me glad Disney/Marvel cancelled it all.

I love the NJO series to death . There's a few stories that are also good to great. Everything Zahn did to a point was gold, too. But it all ended VERY badly. The NJO was so big, it felt like Eps7-9 by itself as an era. They shoulda stopped after that (I knew they wouldn't).

I was really turned off by the Vong, by the concept of them really since I never actually read a book featuring them. From the outset they didn't feel very Star Warsy to me.

They were and weren't. I'm a sucker for all things fresh (that work, of course). Plus, it delved deep into Force-related stuff, so that was a bonus. I loved the Vong, premise and execution.

'No accident' Luke's not in Star Wars trailer (01:31)

Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams says it's no accident that Luke Skywalker is missing from the movie's final trailer.

"No Luke! Where's Luke?! What happened...?!"

Q: What does that mean?

JA: These are good questions to be asking. I can't wait for you to find out the answer.

Q: So there's a reason...

JA: It's no accident.

I thought everyone knew the reason - he's only in a very few scenes of the movie. They spend the whole movie talking about him and looking for him, but he doesn't show up until the very end.

Is this really the final trailer? There won't be a fourth for like Thanksgiving or anything?

Yeah if you've read the spoilers, otherwise you might not have any idea.

As good as this movie will probably be, I hope that doesn't put a sour taste in people's mouths expecting this to be a complete Luke movie.

It's not a legit universal reason to dislike a movie. It's not bad acting, direction, script, editing, etc. Even those that will hate it for it will come around once 8-9 come out, where we'll get a proper amount of him. They'll be doing a marathon in 2020 and they won't care anymore.

I still think that Luke's role in this film is a lot bigger than we realize.

i think it would be pretty awesome if luke was absent for most of the film, maybe a scene or two trough out. then at the end, when ish hits the fan and the knights of ren/the first order are about to prevail or show their true power or whatever the climax ends up being, luke arrives one the scene revealing that in the 30 years of his absence he had created a new secret jedi order to combat all the new threats, hence completing the awakening in the force (the jedi for the light side and kuylo/knights of ren for the dark perhaps). Then the 8th and 9th films can follow the struggle towards in a new golden era of the jedi order. i think it would open up so many possibilities for stories and characters and would just be epic lol. i doubt thats how it will go down, just fun speculation.
