Gotta admit though it was an awful plan. Luke could have entered first while everyone was asleep, choked the guards, mind trick anyone in his path, unfreeze han and walk out.

My theory of Luke's plan is that Lucas had wanted to have several scenes that are only possible when each plan failed, which led to the Jabba's Barge scene where a giant showdown takes place. Luke's plan wasn't well thought-out, but for Lucas it was intentional.

When we get to Star Wars Episode 8, they're gonna have to do a lot of promotion, hype, and marketing for Luke Skywalker to make up for his absence in Episode 7's.

I'm sure they will,
since Han will most likely be dead by then and they'll be able to focus on Luke as the main classic character the way they're focusing on Han right now. The main characters will still be Rey, Finn and Kylo, though.

I have a question that's been bothering me for a while...
Everyone keeps theorizing that Luke is the new evil. The whole, "there is always two, a master and an apprentice." Kylo is the apprentice and Luke would be the master. What motivation does Luke have to turn to the dark side? I don't understand it? What could possibly make him do a 180 over the past 38 years?

The theory is wrong and there are no Sith in the movie.

EW - Where is Luke Skywalker? J.J. Abrams and Mark Hamill grapple with the question

"It was the thing that struck me the hardest, which was the idea that doing a story that took place nearly 40 years after Jedi meant that there would be a generation for whom Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia would be as good as myth. They’d be as old and as mythic as the tale of King Arthur. They would be characters who they may have heard of, but maybe not. They’d be characters who they might believe existed, or just sounded like a fairy tale."

Interesting

Man I wish this was the official poster .

So rude. Anyways, I like that poster but I wish it didn't have that purplish filter.
