The Force Awakens Luke Skywalker - Mark Hamill

Anakin is not much of a character. It wasn't until the Clone Wars where I actually liked him. Then again, it's a detriment to his character because he reverts back to the boring/wooden/awkward Hayden version in Episode 3.

Mark Hamill is the number one reason that I'm hyped for this movie. Not Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, because who really wants to see old versions of their characters? But an older, wiser Jedi Master Luke Skywalker is something I've always wanted to see.

Hopefully they give him a large part in the movie and not just a minor role or cameo.

i agree with you 100%, the movie is going to make box office history all because of hamill being in the film

i do wonder how big of a role will he play in the movies

is he going to had as much screen time as yoda did in ep 1 +2? or is he going to be the main focus around the movie...

better yet are we going to see the jedi master himself wielding a light saber!!!

I want to see old versions of all these characters. The main reason I want to see Luke though is because I love Mark Hamill and think he deserves more love.

Agreed

Luke Skywalker is 1,000x cooler than Anakin

You don't have to search your feelings, we all know it to be true

DAMN STRAIGHT!

I hope they keep this style of duel, where the emotion is in the fight itself not the CGI like in the prequel did.

What are the chances Luke will be behind the controls of an X-Wing again, and do you want that?

I say yes,provided R2 is still his co-pilot.:woot:

Am with you buddy, if they still use X-Wings at this point.

As awesome as the X-Wings are, Luke himself should have definitely moved past it by now (if not the entire Alliance/New Republic).

Liking the Luke love in here as he's always been my favourite character. I'm looking forward [not only] to seeing Mark return but also to seeing a more powerful Luke with years of training behind him as I always felt he got short-changed somewhat in that other Jedi received training from a far younger age yet Luke basically only got an intensive Jedi crash course in the OT.

I think they can do both, not go as over the top as the Prequels did, but still have a fast and epic fight like the ones we see in the Old Republic trailers, but without slow-motion (i don't think that fits SW) and with the fighters getting visually more tired as the fight goes on. I agree about emotion, the lightsaber battles should have emotion and hype going around them instead of being just flashy.

In short, i think they can do higher scale things than the original Trilogy, but still have the fights have weight behind them.

As far as 'saber-wielding goes, it'll be interesting to see if Hamill goes old school two-handed [OT] or one-handed [PT].

The PT also featured plenty of two handed lightsabers, they only used one hand when using two weapons.

I think one of the leaked photos suggested a "new updated" X-Wing was being built, which led to my speculation: Could Luke take the squad into battle at one point-for old time sake?

Yep. People try to defend Hayden-Anakin's whininess as being the same as Luke's, but Luke and Hamill's performance as Luke was just so much more sympathetic and like-able. Jedi Luke in ROTJ was just badass. Full fledged Jedi Knight Anakin in ROTS, not so much. But I am incredibly biased as one of those few kids who actually wanted to be Luke Skywalker as opposed to Han Solo. :woot:

I've always considered Luke in ROTJ to be the epitome of a true Jedi.

Yes, even moreso than Obi-Wan. Luke is the best.

Oh man.. there's no comparison at all. Luke started out as just a teenage farm boy who was very childish and naive. We saw him grow over the 3 films to become the ultimate Jedi badass by the end of Return of the Jedi.

Anakin, on the other hand, was always a whiny little ***** with not one ounce of likeability. That's why I tend to ignore the prequels, because I can't believe in Darth Vader's redemption, if before he was Darth Vader, he was not a good person at all, but just a whiny, selfish a-hole.

Luke changed a lot, in the first film he was a little generic but easy to relate to, which was the point, for the audience to learn about this amazing world from his eyes, in the 2nd film he grew up and got a little more dimension, then in Return of the Jedi he was more serious and fully grown.

Anakin in the prequels was just annoying unfortuntely, The Clone Wars may be hit or miss sometimes, but when they do Anakin well, they do it really well, i could believe that guy to be the noble warrior and friend Obi-Wan talked about, but also someone who could turn into Darth Vader. That show actualy saves the Prequel period for me, i'm glad it remains canon, and is even on the same level as the movies.

I saw Mark last Sunday at Disney World. He was doing a parade at Disney Hollywood Studios. Ray Park and Billy Dee Williams was there too.

Once this was announced I thought of an older Luke as played by Mark, living in Obi-Won's Tattooine hovel, having converted Jabba's Palace into a temple for the training of Jedi, of which there are but a handful, with maybe only 2 or 3 truly skilled initiates of note. I suppose some how the plot takes Luke off world again and into the center of an adventure that has consequences for the entire Galaxy again.

Day 1-3 (Mark Hamill interviews)

Were you there too? Mark and Billy were riding in cars, but Ray was walking. I'm waiting for the film to develop. I got picks of Mark and Billy, but Ray wouldn't face my side, so I couldn't get anything.
