Mark looks and sounds great! Hopefully Luke will get a lot to do in the movies.

What's with the sea of people holding up their cell phones to film at the opening of the event, though? Nobody was actually watching the opening! They were all checking the screens on their phones to make sure they were getting the shot, and anyone who did want to see what was going on onstage saw nothing but a sea of arms holding up phones and cameras.

I jus hope that the cast photo featuring everyone presumably reading their lines isn't a indication of who Mark wil be having most of his scenes with since the only major actor sitting next to him was Anthony Daniels

Mark Hamill is one of the aspects I'm most excited for. To see Luke come full circle from farm boy to wise old Jedi like Obi-Wan is going to be a lot of fun and will no doubt add a bit of gravitas to the film.

Mark Hamill, Luke Skywalker actor, on Star Wars: Episode VII

http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-28475959 (video)

Mark Hamill, who has returned to the role of Luke Skywalker after more than 30 years, has said it feels like an "unexpected gift" to be back on a Star Wars set.

He said he was there to lend his support and grow a "contractually-obligated beard".

He praised the new generation of actors, including Daisy Ridley, taking part in Star Wars: Episode VII, in his first TV interview about the new film.

That beard news makes me way more excited than it should.

He's got more of a Jeff Bridges, the Dude look to him IMO. Which is perfect.

I'm glad he's back to looking healthier now.

And he sounds better too in the interview. Not exactly like his younger self, but I've always thought when he was really overweight, he sounded a little muffled. So he sounds a lot more energetic and youngish.

Mark Hamill has aged well!

Yeah, age seems to have sorted out the face melting that happened to the poor guy as a result of that car accident after A New Hope. I wonder what would have happened with Hamill's career had he not had that terrible accident or if his reconstructive surgery had been effective for more than 5 years. But then again, we would not have had one of the greatest voice actors of recent memory.

His beard has exceeded my expectations. I hope they don't try to color it in.
