The Force Awakens Luke Skywalker - Mark Hamill

Slightly off topic, but what was with Luke's hair getting darker in each film of the OT?

Well, my thought is that he was no longer on Tatooine. Going from a sunny, desert planet, to wearing cold weather gear all the time on Hoth, and then to the canopy cover of Endor, Luke's hair isn't getting bleached out like it was back home, thus it gets less blonde over the years.

For some reason he looks a bit like Sir Anthony Hopkins in these pictures to me.

Must be the eyes.

The old Obi-Wan look suits Mark really well. He looks great.

Odd when you consider that in pre-PT ANH, Obi-Wan was really only dressed like that because he lived on Tatooine.

Look at Uncle Owen. And Mos Eisley residents.

never noticed that until you said that! all these years i never picked it up!!

You know, the only thing that really bugs me, in light of the new canon that we're getting now (as a result of EU being permanently wiped from existence) is that I feel like the fact that the Empire still standing strong after so many years post ROTJ, and how Luke hasn't (from the look of things) started a new Jedi order really cheapens the victory that he supposedly achieved when he helped his father turn back into the light and defeat Palpatine.

I mean the Galaxy is still in civil war with each other, with seemingly no big positive change having come about.

But aside from that, I do hope that this new trilogy will allow Luke to actually take on some powerful foes since the only villain that he's ever really beaten in the entire Star Wars Lore was his father and that was somewhat of a cheat due to his father having a soft spot for him.

It's been rumored that he's trained a handful in a secret location, that only Han and Leia know about.

I do like that he's taking himself out of the equation (the war), but not out of fear of temptation (since he overcame that in RotJ, I don't want him to face something like that in TFA).

If he and his Padawans are doing secret Force-related missions (akin to the character that collects Jedi and Sith stuff), then I'd be far more pleased than him being a Yoda-like hermit or a general for the New Republic during the time between RotJ and TFA. And hey, since the title is what it is, I may be getting my wish that Force as a concept will be front and center here.

Slightly off topic but still Mark Hamill related. In honor of the debut of "The Flash" series premiere tonight. After seeing John Wesley Shipp (The Original Barry Allen/The Flash from the 1990's tv series) guest star in the pilot. It made me wonder if any other cast or guest stars would show up in this new series. and the first person I thought of was Mark Hamill, who before he was casted in the iconic voice acting role of The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series in 1992, he played the live action Flash Rogue gallery villain "The Trickster" and then reprised his role in an episode of Justice League Unlimited.

I CALLED IT!

Remember Mark Hamill as the Trickster on the 1990 The Flash TV show? Well good because he's reprising the role on the current show and we're super-excited:

Also of interest is the description of the role: "Mark Hamill returns in a brand new interpretation of James Jesse (aka The Trickster), a role he originated on the 90's Flash series. In this new iteration, The Trickster is an anarchist terrorist con man serving a life sentence in Iron Heights who helps Barry (Grant Gustin) and Det. West (Jesse L. Martin) to foil the city-wide attacks of a wannabe Trickster eagerly following in the original's deadly footsteps. The episode will reunite him with John Wesley Shipp who went up against him as the original 'Flash' on the CBS version."

Sounds like we’ll be seeing another Trickster on the show. Axel Walker, perhaps? All we can do is wait and speculate until Hamill makes his debut in Episode 17 of The Flash, sometime in 2015.

Pray to God Luke is just hiding in that castle and hasn't turned into a cyborg/mad..

They just seem off to me for how his character should've gone based off ROTJ

I could see Luke being like a Obi-wan or Yoda like character in this. You only see him when needed and him giving backround on the Force or instructions and advice. I also, think maybe he will have enough action elements to keep the people who want to see him appeased. Just my theory or hopes to go along with that Yoda like vibe; maybe that's what we see in the trailer? We see a Sith(or dark Jedi) going to where Luke is held up to confront him?

IGN - MARK HAMILL ON THE REACTION TO THE STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS TRAILER AND WHY HE DISLIKES SPOILERS

IGN: The past two weeks, have you been able to just sit back, smile and enjoy how much speculation people can have about an 88 second trailer?
Hamill: Oh my gosh. You know, I’ll tell you, the most moving aspect of them releasing that trailer was watching a [video] of other people watching it. My daughter put it on for me. It was all these people watching the trailer. Sometimes you get sort of isolated and disconnected because I don’t really follow it as closely as, say, [my son] Nathan does, but to see those people that thrilled, it was moving to me. I actually got a lump in my throat watching that. To see so many people that happy was a thrill. And it’s hard to believe it’s a whole year away that we have to wait but I’m practicing my phrase, “You have to wait and see.” They asked me not to talk about it and I agreed but it’s hard. People want to know!

IGN: [Laughs] Yeah, I know better than to ask you any story questions for that reason.
Hamill: I’m not allowed. I sure wish I could, but it’s one of those things. To tell you the truth, I’m one of those people that… I like being surprised. I don’t want to read spoilers and I hate it when I go see a trailer and you see this thing and you go, “Gee, that’s pretty much the whole movie.” They set up the premise, they show the conflict, they show partial resolution. The only thing they don’t show is the end credits. Where’s the thrill in that? I would love it -- I mean for two and a half years, my dad was in the Navy so my last two years in high school were in Japan and those two years, you saw movies completely cold. In other words, there was a sheet that came out that listed all the movies but it would say “Bonnie and Clyde, 98 minutes, color, crime melodrama.” That’s all you saw, for every movie that came out in those two and a half years. I’m telling you, I would walk in and see The Producers completely cold. I know it’s Mel Brooks so I’m sure it’s a comedy but I don’t know anything about it other than Zero Mostel’s in it and Gene WIlder. So you couldn’t have been more surprised.

I’ve never had a pure movie-going experience since like that, because you always know in advance, especially if you’re in this business, what it’s about. You may have even read the script. You know so much about it it’s hard to be surprised anymore. I just don’t understand the motivation for people wanting to ruin it for people but that’s the world we’re living in. It’s based on clicks on websites to see if they can get information out there. I’ll be surprised if they don’t leak the whole script between now and next year. But I hope not!

IGN: With the trailer focusing on the new cast, like Daisy [Ridley] and John [Boyega], are you just thinking, “Wait until you see what they’re in store for?”, having gone through all this before?
Hamill: I know! I felt that the minute I met all of them. They’re all wonderful actors. I think they’ve done such a great job of not only the characters themselves, but the people they’ve picked to play them. John Boyega is just wonderful and Daisy, I just think the world of and Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac and Andy Serkis. They’re just… Like I say, this is in very, very good hands. I’m vicariously very proud of them even though I have no justification for being able to be proud!

Luke turning evil would ruin not only the original trilogy, but Vader's sacrifice especially. We can only hope Abrams/Kasden aren't that stupid.

Pretty much this, it happens. YoungSuperman this is your answer right here.

I think the true answer is that some people's hair color just naturally changes as they get older.

That and the light on it actually has an effect too. What batfan said is true and makes sense. So let's just say the answer is a combination of both haha.

I've been saying this from the beginning.

I'm still skeptical they've done right by the characters with this.

Nerdist - NEW DETAILS REVEALED ABOUT THE STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS TRAILER

...

Jacob Bertrand (Kirby Buckets) shared some new tidbits in an “Inside The Force Awakens” special after the Star Wars Rebels marathon today on Disney XD.

I have a bad feeling Luke's going to die in TFA, just like Obi Wan did in ANH, and\ Qui Gon did in TPM. Because a Jedi master seems to always have die in the first chapter of a SW trilogy.

They don't have to follow that, and I have a gut feeling they won't.

^ I think it will be Han. Still a mentor character dying, but not the one we expect based on the "rhyming" of the other two trilogies.
