Luke had a reason to be whiny. Anakin did not.

Luke was not whiny at all in episode VI (RETURN OF THE JEDI), Where Anakin in epsiode III (REVENGE OF THE SITH) was still a whiny pain in the ass prick .

But we weren't discussing ROTJ Luke.

And of course Anakin was a prick. Hell, all he did in the OT as Vader was whine about Obi-Wan, he just sounded cool doing it.

You're... so... beautiful...

Then padme turns around and looks like the evil witch of the west.

Dude.....I remember that bit now! Somehow, the one shot in the prequels where Natalie Portman looks pretty bad, and it's when Anakin is telling her how beautiful she is.

Seeing how Darth Vader became Darth Vader from cradle to the grave is an awesome concept but the execution is unforgivably horrid.

Luke Skywalker's story was executed almost flawlessly. I couldn't imagine it done any better or different.

Anakin's story? I wish they would revamp the whole thing all together starting with the casting. What a waste.

That was a pick-up shot, iirc.

That dialogue is pretty corny, but meh, most Star Wars dialogue is corny. Although her one line about how love had blinded him was actually the truth. He lost his sense of reason over her.

:woot: Brilliant bit from good ol' George there.

Rots was my fav PT movie until i saw it a few times after the hype wore off and it doesn't hold up. First draft material at best.

Luke, Han ,Leia & Vader is what makes The Original trilogy standout as a masterpiece, Where the Prequel trilogy was pure crap.

I agree Luke's story was much more devloped & was executed almost flawlessly. (He was a good role model for younger kids to look up to.)

Where Anakin story was rushed, slopy and just down right awful . (I can't say I felt sorry when Obi-Wan beats the crap out of him in episode III, It was a long time coming, not to mention Lucas refer's to Anakin "as A tragic Hero, who falls into darkness" that's a load of Bull, Anakin made the damn choice to join the Dark side .)

Should have had him be like Oliver Twist, the world crapping on him, and he just becomes evil as a result, I say.

*chugs beer*

i know he couldn't pick up some power converters!!!!

you know compared to an overly bossy and obviously jealous master thats nothing

nice try but luke had to clean droids, do chores all day, not spend time with friends at toschi station, dreamed of getting out of the dust bowl he was stuck in and seemed doomed to remain in for the rest of his life.

Annie gets to be a jedi, use force powers any time he wants, be feared by criminals yet biches and moans non stop... jesus.

edit: And Obi treated him with nothing but respect and fairness. It's definitely not a batman nightwing relationship.

one thing I don't get about the horrible acting in the prequel is that every epic i've seen regardless of how bad it was had better acting

What is so bad and poor about Lucas' direction that lends such talented actors to perform so poorly? It was like a bad episode of East Enders (even though all of them are ****)... the acting was like a stupid full of ******ed delays type of elementary school stage play

Its very simple. Lucas prefers post-production over the actual production, thus you get less takes and less chance and time for the actor to bring their dialogue or scenes to life. Lucas just isn't interested in that, so I can imagine you get mostly "ok, you're about to be attacked by a giant something, so be afraid....ok, that's it...got it, CUT!" type direction, whereas most directors will do several takes and tweak the actor's performance to get a better one out of it.

Another thing is that most of the time, the actors are acting in front of a blue screen, and aren't really sure what they're acting to or in front of. How can you give an accurate performance if you don't know what kind of environment your character is in.

I think during the filming of Star Wars, Lucas did care about acting, and he would even fall asleep on set as he was so involved with production itself. This effort shone through, and in turn, the performances were much better than anything in the PT.

Luke by far.

And you're right SoldSnake. Gary Kurtz said back when the original was made, Lucas got the best performances out of his actors. But after Episode V, Lucas stopped caring about the performances and story, and just wanted more Special effects and action.

Anakin was a bi-b-bi-b!tch.
Had he been developed much better, along with not being one of the worse parts of the prequel trilogy, then he'd definitely be better than Luke, because Anakin had the potential to be one of the greatest characters of all-time. Sadly, he only became that after he became Vader.

I'll go with Anakin. His struggle was really deep and you could feel his pain with his mom dying, and his fight with Obi-Wan.

I look at it this way

Luke Skywalker -from Farmboy to Jedi

Clark Kent - from Farmboy to Superhero

Luke Rules .
