Veteran character actor William H. Macy says he respects Lindsay Lohan's talent – but not her behavior.

"You can't show up late," Macy, 56, told reporters Thursday at a Los Angeles junket promoting his new movie, Everyone's Hero. "It's very, very disrespectful."

Macy, who shares a scene with Lohan, 20, in the upcoming Emilio Estevez-directed drama Bobby, called the actress a "huge talent," but echoed the sentiments expressed in a letter sent to her recently by a studio chief who blasted her work ethic.

The letter came from James G. Robinson, CEO of Morgan Creek Productions, which is producing Lohan's film Georgia Rule. Macy's wife, Felicity Huffman, also stars in the movie.

"I think what an actor has to realize (is that) when you show up an hour late, 150 people have been scrambling to cover for you," Macy told reporters Thursday. "There is not an apology big enough in the world to have to make 150 people scramble. It's nothing but disrespect. And Lindsay Lohan is not the only one. A lot of actors show up late as if they're God's gift to the film. It's inexcusable, and they should have their asses kicked."

When asked about Lohan's work on Bobby, Macy paused and said, "She was pretty late."

He added, "I worry about these young kids – 15, 18, 20 years old – who in the span of one year become millionaires and powerhouses. It's too much power for a kid that age to handle."

Macy, who has starred in films including Fargo and The Cooler, also defended his Magnolia costar Tom Cruise – recently bashed for his own behavior – as "not late."

A rep for Lohan was not immediately available for comment

Man looks like her career is almost up in hollywood. And you can take his own word cause he's a well repsected actor in the acting community.

Don't mess with Macy, *****.

I'd like to kidnap her and keep her in a small basement room for 8 years.

William H. Macy is a class act. I definitely agree with him. Lohan's a bit*h.

William H. Macy was great in Pleasantville. An absolutely brilliant performance. He should do some narrative work....preferably in animal docs.

You're a poor man's Sebastian Bach, so therefore you're the ass-mongul from Creed.

I wish Macy would kick Lohan and Creed's asses, on pay-per-view.

I cant be a poor mans version of myself, pickle ****er.

I wouldnt share your love for Creed round here either.

I'm sure my calling the singer from Creed an ass-mongul proves my love for them.

You're about as funny as a cancer ridden senior citizen getting mouth raped by Ted Bundy on Easter Sunday.

I am very disenchanted with Lindsay Lohan's undignified and unprofessional behavior and demeanor. Her lack of adherence to protocol and her lack of a strong ethical backbone are really a detriment to her and her career.

The girl needs help. She should be institutionalized in a facility for the mentally ill. Upon release, she should be given medication to help her come back to reality.

"Where's my dinner? WHERE's my DINNER?"

I like that part because it puts women down.

Love that line! :p Kick her ass.

Punctuality. The only thing he has going for him right now.

Don't get me wrong, I'll still watch and enjoy his films.

As a person though, he's lost the plot.

I don't care about actor's personal lives. Just do a good job and I'm a happy guy.

I dunno, man. I kinda stopped reading after I saw he 'respects her talent'.
