Mads Mikkelsen In-Talks For Villain Role

Mads for the Executioner?

Why not? He's 6ft, definitely bulkier than the elf Malekith (who is kind of weedy as I recall). He just needs to bulk up some more and shave his head, add in the tats and ther you go.

^^ Looks a little gaunt there but yes!

Kick ass, Mads is cool as hell. No idea who he's playing but he's quality.

I can definitely picture a bearded Mads playing Skurge. Mad's lackluster voice and heavier frame is what makes me think that there will be another actor playing the Dark Elf however. Everything seems to indicate that there are going to be at least three villains in the Thor sequel.

Yes as soon as I saw him I saw Malekith too, well I didn't know his name but I remembered him from Earth's Mightiest heroes and saw everyone mentioning that name and googled it and would you know it was the same villain I thought of.

Malekith is a good guess. I don't think Executioner. Surtur is a possibility too

The name definitely rings a bell. Sound good though, I'm gonna have to keep an eye out for that one.

Also the Pusher films and Valhalla Rising by Refn. Valhalla Rising is one of the most surreal, insane and violent films i've ever seen.

Mads likely got the role because his bad-ass role as the viking slave One-Eye in Nicholas Winding Refn's Valhalla Rising...makes sense director Alan Taylor would cast him considering they're using Game of Thrones/Norse as the inspiration for this new grittier Asgard....watch out it might get a little scary next round kiddies

I wouldn't be shocked to see them amp up the violence to the level of the Lord of The Rings trilogy. Since fantasy violence ends up getting a PG-13 rating. LOTR is miles more violent than the first Thor and considering Marvel is pulling talent from Game of Thrones and Valhalla Rising expect an Asgardian body count this time.

That film is so bizarrely awesome. Really weird.

And I hope Taylor does go a bit more gritty and darker. If there is one fault i had with Thor it was that it seemed a bit too "kiddy" and fluffy wuffy. The sequel needs to be more violent and hard hitting i feel.

I think Mikkelsen would be wasted as the Executioner. He needs a meatier role than that (I don't expect the MCU to delve too deeply into Skurge's character).

Loki/Enchantress/Malekith as the trio of villains would make for a great film

You can't leave out Executioner, Thor needs a physical threat as well as mental/emotional threats.

Cool I liked Mads Mikkelsen in the Cilve Owen King Arthur movie, Pusher films, Casino Royale and The Three Musketeers.

At this point, I just want to see Thor come across a worthy/credible/threatening Foe that ISN'T Loki for once. I want to see someone push Thor to his limits mentally and physically, where no excuse can be made when it comes to his battles with this new villain because of him having familial ties with that said villain.

Quite frankly, I'm looking for the portrayal of a villain where once the film is said and done, people will have fond memories of having seen Thor and this person go at it.

Yea agreed. I want to see a real dragged out slobber knocker. And more esoteric powers, not just lightning. Throw in a God Blast or Anti Force blast or something.

Indeed; that and I want to see Thor deal with a villain from start to finish of the film instead of it being either him being introduced/reunited to/with the villain halfway into the film (The Avengers) or it being where he's introduced to one villain only to never see that villain again and has to deal with a newly established villain near the end of the second half of the film (Thor).lol

Maybe in his first confrontation with the villain Thor is defeated. Because he's a bit one dimensional with his attacks. Then with Odin's aid he learns the more varied uses of Mjolnir or something.

Sorta like Rocky in Rocky 3 haha.

Well that'd definitely be something new for Thor, so far, he has been portrayed as fairly..what's that word..."all powerful" in a sense.lol

I mean, he's like the only guy that when fully powered, hasn't been put in a situation where he's gotten his ass kicked by a villain or seriously (again while fully powered). Everyone else, including the Hulk, have been put in a situation where they were really put to the test in the sense where it felt like at times that they were going to lose or even die.

Potentially Malekith hmmm? Well, Malekith was my #2 choice below the Enchantress and to be honest, I couldn't really see her working well in a movie without relying on the old 'I'm a hot chick who wants to get with you' sort of thing.

I mean, as far as villian's motivations go it's kind of bland. Marvel could have made it work (and still can of course) but Malekith is a much easier character to adapt and really very cool.

I love Vahalla Rising. Mikkelsen emit sheer bad-ass intensity without a single line of dialogue. The other thing I like about the film is that it has this Tarkovsky-esque feel to it.

And I agree with The Morningstar, hopefully the sequel is darker and more mature than its predecessor.

Would Malekith be a good choice this early? We already saw the CoAW.

You don't need the Casket for Malekith per se. You can substitute it with every other McGuffin in the MU

Mikkelsen is a great actor, would love it if he was the villain in this as he and Hemsworth would play off each other great IMO.

When I think of Mads Executioner just doesn't pop into my head that's all. I wasn't knocking your suggestion, I just can't picture it. No, I don't lack vision, btw lol, just doesn't fit in my mind.

Isn't Executioner practically a big, almost mute dude that just kicks ass? A proper actor would be wasted on that role, unless they completely change him.
