MAGAZINE Articles DISCUSSION

Uhhh...has Doom been confirmed for the sequel? No, I'm just messin' with ya!

I know Doom has been confirmed;
The Surfer has been confirmed, but;

I haven't read anywhere that Galactus actually "APPEARS" in the sequel, either actor or CGI....There have been allusions to it, but no confirmations of fact that he appears in it.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong and provide a formal citation to back up your assertion if so. Use correct format and answer in 50 words or less.

Galactus is more than likely a cliffhanger.

anyway

creative screenwriter is a good mag. They have podcasts cool I wonder if Payne will have one. I know they had one with Frost a few months after FF came out. And they recently had one with Penn and Kinberg(where they insulted the **** out of Fox numerous times, it was awesome, and Kinberg sounds like Kevin spacey)

I wouldn't put any weight on it....wasn't it him that was talking puppetmaster a few months ago???

What part of old script do you not understand?

That was rude, zero.

Not in the least. Sometimes to get people to understand simple things you need to be "rude" as you put it.

And I guess that wasn't meant to sound arrogant or condescending?
"Simple things." Jeez!

Your definition of rudeness apparently differs from that of most of the people here. And as far as I can find, no one in the thread had even used the phrase "old script." What was there to understand?

Stop being so rude, you're disrupting the other posters.

No not in this thread, This may surprise you but there are other threads, leading back months to a year. I know it's wierd.

zeroOO, if you had read Kel's post, her point was to cast doubt on what Avi says since he was gung ho for Puppetmaster at one time. BTW, does he even have the power to greenlight anything at this point in time since he is supposed to be getting out of that division of Marvel?

And everyone within range of your sunny attitude is supposed to be intimately familiar with all those threads, I suppose? Will there be a quiz?

No, what surprises me is how some seem to live for the opportunity to be snarky to someone for no good reason, then excuse or justify their bad manners with more bad manners. I've been online for well over a decade, and yet I'm still surprised. Even on this site.

I know, it's weird. (Which is how the word is spelled, by the way.)

No, Maiden; See, Kel (like all of us, I suppose) is expected to be familiar with all the other posts from all the other threads, or at least whichever ones mentioned the jettisoned script. Zero was just being helpful by politely letting her know that she obviously didn't "understand" this "simple thing."

Gee, I must be unenlightened also since I ignore about 90% of the posts around here :) . I guess I'll just stay in the comic book threads since at least they have something concrete to go on!

I was just thinking the same thing. Of course the comics board isn't as busy as this one, but the irritation factor is much lower.

I wouldn't worry too much about it......we do have ignore on this board, so I guess if the irritation gets too bad that is always an alternative......but the 2 of you do not have permission to not post....

Just a reminder that the Wizard with F4 2 will be out tomorrow. If anyone gets it, tell us what the gist of the article is about and what pics are in it!!

Thanks!!

 That's right! I wonder if it will have anything worthwhile. I may make a run at lunch.

Yep, I'm going to call my little comic store and see if he has it....

REMINDER: For those who want to scan it and post, Wizard Magazine apparently checks the boards and does not allow their articles to be used. If you do anything you may want to just give a summary.

I got it and I would say don't rush out and get this one for the FF news... just a 2 page rehash of stuff we have seen before.

Thanks! Any pre-production photos or news of any sort?

No, not really Willie. There's just a few Q & A's with Don Payne ... nothing we haven't heard before. There's also Jessica's quote hinting about a some kind of triangle ( I hesitate to say romantic) between the Surfer, Reed and Sue. You know the quote I mean, I think it came out around the time of her being on MTV. The only somewhat original question that Wizard asked of Payne was whether or not there was a chance of an X-Men / FF crossover. Of course he said it is possible since Fox has the rights on both but he knows of no plans for one.

There are a few other interesting articles, like one about Stan Lee's Superhero reality show on Sci Fi and other comic book news. But if you are looking for any exlusive stuff, no. The picture is an old one of Jessica in the FF costume with the opera length gloves.

Thanks again!

I guess for normal people (who don't waste as much time on the internet as we do) all of that is news.

Free Fantastic Four Comic at Office Max

This publicity/magazines thread seemed like the most logical choice to post this article (below) that I found on Toy Mania.com.

Now I'm all for giving teachers their due, but let me give fair warning that this freebie comic is (for me anyway) one of the low points in my 30+ years of FF fandom. Ben & Reed actually go to an Office Max store. Reed actually utters these words: "Wow! Office Max has it all! We'll have no problem finding Doom with all these school supplies!" (Imagine there is an emoticon for embarrassment and disgust and imagine that it is inserted here.)
Remember the Marvel heroes in all those 1-page Hostess fruit pie ads in the 70's and 80's? Those ads were like Dark Knight Returns compared to this comic. At least they were purp[osefully goofy. This comic, though, is supremely bad. But worth picking up if you're a completist, I suppose.

Here's the press release:
http://www.toymania.com/news/messages/8421.shtml
ITASCA, Ill., July 17, 2006 -- OfficeMax®, one of America's largest office supply distributors, announced that a special edition Marvel comic book titled Brain Drain, which honors middle school teachers as Super Heroes, is now available for free at OfficeMax's approximately 870 superstores across the country. Approximately 500,000 copies of the comic book are available while supplies last.

OfficeMax partnered with Marvel Entertainment and TeachersCount in a nationwide contest to find the "OfficeMax Super Hero Teacher of the Year" earlier this year. Of the 4,200 entries submitted, six winning middle school teachers and the students who nominated them were announced in June. The 12 winners are now featured as illustrated characters in the new custom comic book.

"OfficeMax has a long-standing tradition of supporting teachers through our MaxPerks for Teachers program and teacher appreciation events," states Ryan Vero, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for OfficeMax. "Portraying real-life teachers as Super Heroes with Marvel exemplifies OfficeMax's continuing commitment to supporting education."

"As adults, we all remember teachers who were heroes in our young lives," says Robert Sabouni, vice president, Marvel Entertainment's Custom Publishing and Cover Concepts. "So, we are thrilled to honor today's heroic teachers by illustrating them alongside Spider-Man and The Fantastic Four in Brain Drain."
"Brain Drain includes Peter Parker (Spider-Man), who is working as a teacher at Midtown High. During the course of the story, Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four and each of the winning teachers exhibit heroic traits, some of which were described in the students' essays, to help save the students from Dr. Doom's knowledge-siphoning Doombots."

So true... the print media just can't match the speed at which information and misinformation can fly around cyberspace. Wizard tries to offset things with "exclusives" (but word leaks out anyway) and by wrapping the newstand copies in plastic.... usually only the "men's" magazines do that!!!
