Sequels Magneto Gets a Starting Date!

ComingSoon.net has posted an updated pre-strike priority list which reveals new start dates for upcoming comic book movies. Included are Wolverine (Nov. 7 start date), Magneto (Jan. 1), G.I. Joe (Feb. 8), Justice League (Feb. 11), and even Dragon Ball Z (Fall '08).

That's sooner than expected. I cant wait!

Yeah, that's a lot sooner than I expected. We should be hearing casting announcements for both Magneto and Wolverine soon. Based on its start date, I wonder when Fox plans to release Magneto? Spring 2009?

That's a lot sooner than I was expecting, too. Sounds good though. In terms of pre-production (development), I guess Magneto is not that far behind Wolverine

Casting announcements are well overdue. Especially on Wolverine with filming less than a month away. What's taking them so long?

I think yes, Magneto will be shotted in 4 months or so, no? so easily could be released at the end of the year, no?

I read an article in Entertainment Weekly about the whole strike thing. Many studios are rushing projects into production, because if the strikes go through, then they'll need to make their films by June 30th (because the writer, director, actor groups may walk out next Summer). Studios are rushing to film, so they'll have movies available for release during the strike. So, Fox may still opt to hold MAGNETO till late 2008 or 2009. (depending on how many available films they have on their slate for the period).

Luckily, Magneto's been developing for a bit, so they hopefully won't be too rushed.

We haven't had any real substantial updates on the status of the movie for a long time.The Marvel earnings call would have been the perfect moment to do so.

I'm really doubting the movie will start shooting on January 1st now.

Has Goyer secretly exited the movie? Are they having trouble with the budget and casting? Does the script need work? Basically.....what's going on?

The writers strike is whats going on Retro. It is shaking up a lot of the studios and they are having to prioritise work. Magneto is going to take a back seat to Wolverine until they get that fully moving. From what I have heard filming is possibly going to be delayed a little bit so that they can be fully ready and polished. I highly doubt Magneto will be shooting in January, certainly not January 1st....

Don't worry, I know that lack of news tends to do that to us, but the project is moving along fine from everything I am hearing.
