Sequels Magneto Gets a Starting Date!

I think the last we heard they were scouting for locations and budgeting.

I think the last we heard they were scouting for locations and budgeting.
Plus storyboarding and concept artwork too.But that was back in August....
The writers strike is whats going on Retro. ;) It is shaking up a lot of the studios and they are having to prioritise work. Magneto is going to take a back seat to Wolverine until they get that fully moving. From what I have heard filming is possibly going to be delayed a little bit so that they can be fully ready and polished. I highly doubt Magneto will be shooting in January, certainly not January 1st....

Don't worry, I know that lack of news tends to do that to us, but the project is moving along fine from everything I am hearing.
You were right matt. It's looks like Magneto is on hold for the moment.

David Goyer Directing New Supernatural Thriller
Source: The Hollywood Reporter November 9, 2007

David Goyer is in final negotiations to direct an untitled supernatural thriller for Rogue Pictures, says The Hollywood Reporter. Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller of Platinum Dunes are producing.

The script, which Goyer also wrote, follows an 18-year-old who realizes she is slowly being possessed and then begins to fight back.

A February start date for a Chicago shoot is being eyed.

Platinum Dunes, with Mandalay Pictures, is developing a reimagining of the Alfred Hitchcock classic The Birds, with Martin Campbell attached to direct. The company also is prepping a redo of the cult vampire movie Near Dark for Rogue, with Sam Bayer at the helm.

Wonder if Goyer will still helm the movie when he finishes this? If he doesn't return and if they can get a better replacement i could live with someone else in the directors chair. I'd keep him though in a writing capacity.

Hopefully Goyer will comment about the situation on his myspace.

I cant see Goyer directing now...unless they wait till the strike is over.

Maybe they have someone else lined up?

I wouldn't mind if Goyer got off the project. I think he's good for the script, but I'd like to see someone else in the director's chair.

Good, Goyer get off Magneto and leave it to a better director

While I couldn't get 100% confirmation, I am hearing that Magneto is now going to be post-strike and that Goyer will more than likely be available by the time it enters production.

It's strange that he's taken on a completly new project when we were lead to believe that the Magneto script was done. I have a feeling he may have left the movie. At least as director.

WOW, that's sooner then I thought, I can't wait, dose that mean that it starts filming on Jan 1st?

Jan 1st?
amazing. cant wait. all these x-men prequels are gonna be good...

Uh, so what's going on... is this being put on hold until Wolverine comes out?
