Comics MAJOR Spider-Man spoilers involving Civil War

Any more up-to-date spoilers involving spider-man for the civil war? i.e. from civil war 3 onwards?

They could say that Uncle Ben molested Peter when he was younger. How about a story like that? Hahaha.

ACTUALLY... There is a storyline from a public service comic book series in which we discover that Pete was sexually molested by an older boy when he was a young lad.

No kidding. Pete was molested.

Non-cannon!!

I also don't accept as canon that public service issue where Spider-Man, Power Man and Storm teamed up to take down a costume supervillain who sold cigarettes to teen athletes. Not because I don't think they'd do it, but because it's just clearly not in the core continuity.
They did three issues back in the day that dealt with Harry Osborn's drug abuse that had to go without Comics Code approval. That was in the Amazing Spider-Man series (and furthermore, back when Spider-Man was actually written well) and therefore in continuity. Now that's how you do a public service announcement.

i was under the ompression that the molester story WAS writtin into canon or was that done forthe newspaper strip?

This old fan wants to see something new and different. He wants to see stories told because they're good stories, and not as marketing stunts. He wants to see actual fans of the character to explain how all of this is is a "good" story and not some plot hammered piece of junk, instead of whine insecently about so-called negative posters. He also would like someone to explain why anyone should ever sit back and "ride out" any story after crap epics like "Sins Past" and "The Other."

In case you've missed it, the status quo has already be changed. Repeatedly for the past few years. We've had new powers, then new powers, then new suit, now this. At this point a Spider-man story with no change in the status quo would be a change in the status quo.

But I speak needlessly. You're not here for discussing the stories. You're not here to tall about the character. You're here to make ever so witty post like the one above to show how much better you are than everyone else here. By making "clever" observations that keep coming up each and everytime some great and glorious new change occurs.

Because Lord only knows how that's an improvement over what we're doing.

Next.

no, I'm not better or witty. Just tired of all the endless screaming about the same topics. Doesn't anyone have a FRESH angle to take?? Words in a message board don't always translate well, because the context can be misunderstood. Opinions are fine, not the babyish 'tit for tat' threads that are becoming commonplace here. Bottom line is, opinions are cool. But when it turns into one big cluster **** of endless whining, its hard to take. Does everyone have to agree on everything? no. It seems like anyone who doesn't agree or 'go with the crowd' is shouted down. When some people post the same things over and over, its 'entertaining' and everyone responds. When other people do it they're being 'smartass'. Its amazing how people pick and choose what to be offended about. I can disagree without calling people names, because 'board wars' never end. I've already said what I thought about the state of Civil War. I didn't like the unmasking at first. It seemed like Pete was being set up as the fall guy, because the public announcement wasn't necessary. But I also thought the relationship with Tony was interesting, altho I wasn't sure they had much history prior. I can't stand the new costume. It looks like psychadelic tinfoil and is too gimmicky. But now that I see the classic red and blue duds I also realize how relatively boring they look now (like old pajamas). I liked the overall idea of peter getting a power upgrade since all the characters in MU seem more 'powered up'. There were so many stories where Spiderman was treated like a 'bug'. More a nuisance with cute powers than anyone to take seriously, especially around other SH groups. The 'everyman' thing shouldn't include being run over by relatively weak villans or pummelled by b-listers. My take on Pete's everyman appeal is more that he's a down to earth personality and never overly impressed with his abilities. He doesn't talk down to people or at them just because he has powers. Interesting stories may come out of all this. I'd also like to see the direction Peter's personal life will take. Flash Thompson is 'back'. So will BC be 'back' as well? Or venom? I hear an old character from Pete's past will be introduced.

Joey Q and company have written themselves into a corner with the unmasking. Let's see if they have the balls to come up with a good resolution.

That's more like it!

If the unmasking had happened before "Sins Past", "The Other", and all of the other missteps along the way, I might have taken it better. And, to tell the truth, from what I hear there are decent stories stemming from the idea. If Joey Q and the others can come up with something decent (or at least better than the aformentioned stories), I won't have too much to complain about the whole mess. Their track record on Spidey doesn't seem to point to this... but I can always hope.

I very much doubt that was printed in the newspaper strip, and I don't think it's officially canon.

Either way, he wasn't actually molested. The offender offered/threatened to "do stuff" together, but he didn't actually touch Peter in his naughty places. It was still creepy as hell. I didn't even know about it until people posted it on the Hype.
