how can we make DVD covers....

if we dont even have a teaser poster yet....

hmmm maybe we should start this thread in july 30 when i have seen the movie over 359 times

I would just like to say that I think most DVD covers suck monkey butt. It's as if a bunch of marketing people got together and thought up ways to stick motion-blurred action photos and/or the actors' faces all over the covers and call it a day.

BB's DVD cover wasn't bad, but it wasn't stellar. I would have preferred they used the poster of him in the batcave standing in shadow and being surrounded by bats.



Instead, he looks more like a genie.



I totally went -facepalm- when I saw the Superman Returns DVD covers though. I think those were the worst travesty I had seen in a while. I mean, they had this for a poster:



And they went with this for a DVD:



Just...why? WHYY??????

As I said, it was one of my first covers. I've much improved since then. Check the link I posted above.

 

We get 3 promo shots and this is what happens! Seriously, lets just merge this with the Manips thread since it's all the same.

 

Oh, I know!!! I was SICK that (1) they didn't just release all the BB posters as DVD covers to give fans the OPTION -- and (2) they DEFINITELY should have used the image of Supes in space. I lost my MIND when I saw that Superman Returns poster...too ILL.

 

I also wish some comic book joints would come with something different. How many times can you put the city skyline with a sunburst behind the hero? Be more creative...I mean Metropolis, Gotham & NY all play important parts in the stories, expecially with Bats, Superman and Spidey...they're trying to PROTECT their respective cities. Don't get me wrong, I've done it some myself -- like on the TDK poster I designed early early this year -- but c'mon -- I wish someone would give me an opp to design a DVD cover or movie poster...

Seriously, it isn't a bad design, just the font and the outer glow kinda sucks, and the 10 minutes thing does not need to be so hugely gigantic, or even on the cover for that matter. Otherwise its cool.
