I just want to say thanks for all the comments, you have been really kind, Making this costume has been a trip and in a way. I have gotten a lot of satisfaction from actually finishing the costume from start to finish The costume can always be improved and I already have a list in action. This thing was in construction for over a year now so I wanna make the next one a whole lot better. some more pics.

The EXTREMELY short version... I bought some white 4-way stretch lycra and sewed rough versions of the parts (pants, shirt, etc.) Hemmed them in nice & tight where necessary. Took a water erase pen (JoAnn Fabrics), stood in front of a mirror, and sketched the breaks betweeen the red & blue on the fabric. Took them off, carefully cut along the lines and transferred those pieces to cardboard templates. Tweaked them a bit to make them symmetrical, added bleeds and cut the parts out of red & blue lycra. Sewed it all up, sketched webbing on with the same water erase pen, and applied it (while stretched) with mask making latex tinted black out of a fine tip squeeze bottle. Spiders & eyeframes are Foamies sprayed with a couple coats of black PlastDip & lenses are cut from a KMart brand grease splatter guard screen. Shoes are Kung Fu slippers. Of course, the long version is MUCH longer, & includes a lot of trial & error, but that's the basic process. :cwink:
I'm not going anywhere. If you ever get bored, I'd love to hear the long version.

lol spidermilk
you went from outisder to insider because of that auction.
be easy, your protected by the boardmembers now:P

OK, I have decided. I'm gonna make a costume.

I'll use brado's techniques for the eyes and webs, and I'm gonna silkscreen a nice bold red muscle pattern suit.

..Umm, how do I start?

Im thinking spidermilk was on this board before most of us guys anyways. His back yard where the photos are taken looks very much like Purplegoblins yard. I think I've some photos of Purps suits somewhere on a back-up drive Might just be a coincedence but explains such a fine looking suit so quickly. Nice job James. :yay:

Silk screening wont be advised unless you got big bucks, lots of man hours and hella lot of knowledge...
(It took the Sony silk screeners three months with a 6 man team to bump out those 35 costume...and still they had problems)
This is if you try to do it yourself, if you go commercial it will likely cost you 10x that.

It's simple to draw a pattern up, scan it up and adapt in PS, or start fresh in
PS or you can if you have a compressor...

Spend alot of time hand perfecting your air-brushing skills creating some printed templates, cutting them out and then spraying your way to muscle glory on some plain Lycra.

See if this will help you guys any..

Well thanks Brad, in this scenario you are the Jonah Jameson character intent on finding out Spideys true identity.. lool. I was hoping to save my story for my website but I guess part the hat is out of the bag... it's been 8 years to get to this stage...

Anyway Now I guess I can positively say that this creation is one of my first patterns, you have my graceful talents to thanks for lol.

I released it a few years ago on a another forum when there was a hungry calling for "FREE" spidey pattern and then quoted it on this forum. To answer peoples doubts it does print beautifully well and knowing well now, all I would suggest changing is the color of the blue.

On another good note, I got some more Latex..

Buy it!, it looks like the real deal pattern everyone has on this forum!

"good luck finding the sony print file... I wouldn't mind one myself I could also use a CAD file of the 3D web pattern for spidey now that I have access to a CNC machine, the guy I am in talks with as told me he can re-size the web file to fit children for the parents that want to make mini spidey suits. But no one is willing to make a trade for the file or sell one.... This has turned more into a show off/Sellers thread then information sharing..."

It terms of this being a show off thread also... you now now who freely gave a way this pattern although not the best now a few years down the road at the time there was nothing better so and also NO ONE willing to do the same so.

It's not exactly like that for some of the members..I can only testament that the information is in this thread to make a costume waaaay better than they did on the movie, all the resources are there you have to do some hard graft to get it not just expect it easy.

I love a good show off thread.. :) Any chance on a look at your webs close-up?

Well how do I do that? I have a small picture of the pattern, I'd just need to stretch it out and brighten the colors...
But I'll take your word for it and assume your version is the easy version. But...um... how do I do that?

And if my english would be better, i would better understand, what they are writing about... :)

No secrets here Martin, I wanted to see about this request in private for a change.

If you don't know what that stuff is, it's Foam Latex, slightly different to it's counter part liquid latex. Minus the brand name this what they used in the films to do the webs. I have a different end use for it though.:cwink:

Find a pizza kitchen who will let you use their oven after hours?

Spidermilk, are you making webs with baked foam? Is that what that's for?

Hey Stan,

About a 1/4 of this stuff is what I'll use for the webs, the rest is for a top secret FX project I have planned.
