Man of steel 2 possible plot and villians

One thing I'd really like to see in the sequel is the development of the Clark-Lois professional rivalry. It's one of those details that adds a great dynamic and spark to their characters and relationship. Plus, it would directly contrast with the Superman-Lois love. They love each other one moment, fight each other the next.

As hinted at in the end, I think some international travel is in order for the sequel. Would love to see some around the world locales as Clark and Lois work their leads for various stories.

1. Lex Luthor comes to Metropolis because Superman's existence ends his state of Catatonia he fell into because he became bored of the world.
2. Creates some sort of mini-villain that battles Superman
3. Superman's suit gets destroyed he creates a new one that matches the classic suit
4. He meets reboot Batman (fully dressed in 70s black(blue)/grey) and thinks "Wow, I need some of those trunks"
5. Realizes his childhood abuse by his father created a mental block and gets over it to become the traditional Superman including the super-intelligence

Man of Steel fixed, groundwork laid.

The classic suit aint coming back, if it was still in the comics then there'd maybe be a slight chance but there isn't.

Do u really think a Batman with a grey and blue suit would work too? I mean come on

I've read some comments of people saying that the battle with Zod was like a "Dragon Ball Z" fight, and I've always seen Goku like some kind of japanese version of Superman (the whole saiyan thing was probably inspired by the Superman mythos), so in my opinion, they should try a reverse rip-off like this:

MOS: Zod and the kryptonians = Vegeta and the saiyans

MOS2: Brainiac = Freeza (Lex would be in the background rebuilding Metropolis and hating the freaking aliens).

MOS3: Lex+Metallo = Dr.Gero+the androids/Cell. Metallo should be as powerful as the dbz androids were (Trunks and Vegeta could barely fight them as supersaiyans). He should be an unstoppable killing machine created with just one mission: killing Goku/Superman. The androids in dbz were previously humans like Metallo, Lex could use technology from the kryptonians and from Brainiac to create a Metallo that was much more powerful than what we've seen in the comics. He shouldn't look like a terminator, he should look like the dbz androids, they were humans changed by Dr.Gero to become killing machines strong enough to kill saiyans, Luthor would do the same to create a being that looked like a normal human but who could actually kill a kryptonian like Superman. Just copypaste the android storyline from dbz.

Parasite = Majin Boo?

Martian Manhunter would be (obviously) Piccolo.

Jimmy Olsen (or Jenny) is Krillin.

Lois is Chi-Chi.

And I could go on and on... XD

Darkseid should be left for a possible JLA movie or for the thrid or fourth MOS sequel, he would be stronger than Zod, Brainiac or Metallo, he should be the most dangerous being in the DC movies.

MOS fixed??? U mad?

Well… here’s my take on everything for Man of Steel 2 AKA

Last Son of Krypton

We get introduced to Lex Luthor (Mark Strong) and Jimmy Olsen (Logan Lerman), HUGE characters in the Superman mythos. Also Bizarro (Cavill) and Superman’s weakness, Kryptonite.

I wanted to provide a visual too, just for fun, so here:

5op.png

So in this movie, we would see Lex Luthor become close friends with Superman, after he has stopped the Zod crisis and aided in Metropolis’s renovation/rebuilding. However, as Superman cleans up the city, he notices a bunch of meteorites around the place that make him feel sick (kryptonite). Explanation: while Zod’s attempt to turn all of Earth into Krypton (using the beam of his ship) failed, parts of Earth’s core succeeded in becoming Krypton, and in turn, the beam from Zod’s ship managed to heat the Earth’s crust enough to cause a “kryptonic eruption”, leaving Kryptonite all over Metropolis. Lex discovers that it weakens Superman. So, being the “good friend” he is, he tells Superman to stop saving Metropolis because he is concerned for his health. Now, considering Lex is denying him his birthright, Superman obviously refuses.

Now we see a different side of Lex; a greedy, furious, dark side (no pun intended). We discover that he has somehow gotten ahold of Superman’s DNA (behind his back, maybe LexCorp has Zod’s body and they found traces of Clark’s blood on it or something), and that he has been running experiments on the DNA to see what makes Superman so strong. He discovers that he only has powers under the yellow sun, and seeing as Lex believes Superman is unfit to be a hero (since he has such an obvious weakness), he decides to use the stolen DNA to make a clone of Superman, that will be powerful regardless of the yellow sun, and will not react to kryptonite. He makes the clone through stem cells, injects steroids to make him a bigger, stronger, and more efficient Superman blah blah blah blah the scientists warn him that things could go wrong and they need more time to experiment on the sustenance of the clone (since they’re literally working with alien DNA), but Lex hushes them and tells them to deliver as soon as possible ….

Anyways, then the movie goes on. The clone gets completed, and released out into Metropolis. This new “Superman” starts saving people and basically doing Superman’s job, leaving Superman pissed off. Lex comes out and takes the credit for creating a better and more reliable hero (his intention was never to guarantee Clark’s safety, he just wanted to claim the fame and glory and whatever). Lex changes the clone’s logo to a backwards S, so that everyone knows the difference between the original superman and the new and improved. Eventually, Superman and the clone fight, and midfight, the clone starts grabbing his face and screaming. He flies away, down into a manhole. Superman claims his place back as the hero, all the citizens love him again, blah blah.. We see a now deformed clone, stumble back into LexCorp and fall at Lex’s feet. His suit has become all dull and dark (since he literally just went came out of a sewer) and his face has turned all dark, bruised, and gray, with twisted features. Lex storms the science lab and yells at the scientists, demanding to know what went wrong. The scientists claim that there was something wrong with the clone’s composition, as well as his blood flow and his low blood platelet level (explaining his grey and bruising skin, and the deformed face/body). As Lex tries to force Bizarro back to be experimented on, Bizarro tosses him across the room and flys out.

Bizarro goes out into the city, trying to regain the city’s love and approval, but because of his messed up composition and deformities, all his powers, including flight and laser vision, are impaired and only cause destruction. Superman tells him to stop; he refuses; they fight, Superman beats him again, and he flies off, he taunts Superman and tells him he will take his girlfriend away from him. He goes after Lois, Superman chases him, he gets Lois, they fight some more, and then after being defeated for the last time, Bizarro looks up, vows revenge some day, and flies off into space.

Cut back to Lex (possibly in the hospital with a broken arm), and Clark is hovering outside the window. Lex opens it and asks him what he wants. Superman says their friendship no longer exists, and he is ashamed to have ever called him a friend. Lex claims that they have never been friends, and that he only befriended him so that he could stab him in the back and bring him down for destroying Metropolis (he blames the Zod incident on him), and because he knows that one day his power will corrupt him and he will turn against everyone. Lex vows that one day he will defeat him and prove to the city that he’s an alien threat. Clark says it’s never going to happen, not in a million years, and tells him to remember that there is only one Superman.

HE is the one and only Superman; the savior of metropolis; earth’s mightiest hero; the last son of Krypton. He flies off. END.

(I obviously expect more Lois to be in there, also Perry and Jimmy; I just wanted to focus on the main story points for now.)

As far as I can tell, Snyder and Nolan are taking Superman in the same direction as Batman. Man of Steel was such a good mirror to Batman Begins, considering the movie focused more on the themes and the main origin of the hero than anything else. In Begins, the theme was fear. In MOS, the theme was Hope.

Now looking at my proposal for MOS 2: I think if the movie was done this way, it would also function as a good mirror to the Dark Knight , seeing as Superman would meet his archenemy Lex, as Batman did with Joker. We would also see the story mess around with characters, to become more authentic to the respectable mythos of the hero (Bizarro & Olsen in MOS 2), as we saw happen in TDK (Harvey/Two face & the death of Rachel Dawes[since Rachel never actually existed in the Batman comics])

I imagine MOS 3 would be similar to Dark Knight Rises: The hero’s fall and comeback. You know how Bane is famous for breaking Batman’s back? And Batman came back and beat him? Well, I’m pretty sure Superman has a similar foe, who’s famous for “breaking” him too…. Or should I say, killing him.
That’s right. Doomsday. Movie title? Doomsday (or Superman: Doomsday, though that’s already an animated Superman movie).
Long story short: Doomsday arrives on Earth, Superman fights, can’t defeat him, flees. Bunch of other stuff happens. Superman goes back to fight Doomsday, dies. Then perhaps Batman (Sam Witwer?) would come to Metropolis, to step into Superman’s place and try to stop Doomsday. Then Superman would come back from the dead, they would defeat him together, become allies, blah blah.

Then this movie could jumpstart a “World’s Finest” Movie, instead of a sloppy Justice League that people want, simply to compete with the Avengers…. or if they could pull it off, sure do Justice League too; I'd pick Darkseid as the villain.
I think you all see what I’m getting at here..

Sorry that was much longer than I thought, I just got so involved in the story and nerded everywhere…

For those of you who actually read all of this and stayed with me this long, Thank you!

I certainly hope you guys like the ideas.

Nice pic there, but that movie you're describing would need to be 5 hours long. :D

I basically just took one of the episodes of the TAS series and made it more "MOS".. those episodes only lasted 20 minutes each, I'm sure it could be done in 2 hours.

Honestly the only reason I wouldn't want Brainiac in MOS 2 is because we already saw an alien attack happen in MOS with Zod, and that had so much mass destruction, literally thousands maybe millions of lives. Metropolis can't keep getting blown to pieces and rebuilt.. I just want a break from the whole "aliens are attacking" scene, how about we see Superman go against something a little closer to Earth this time?

Luther would be perfect to be introduced because something that MOS didn't really show was just how the overall public reacted to him. It was more military based. This is where Luther would come in. He would appeal to the mortal man as one himself and question Superman's role as their savior. Why should they follow someone that has caused all of this destruction and brought others like him to Earth? Not only that but him killing, yes you could address that. Is this how their savior solves problems? They now know what he can destroy as much as he could accomplish, so that offers the question if he can really be trusted. Plus he could get involved in the government and convince them about Superman.

MOS was more about Clark embracing both of his sides to become a savior, but that doesn't mean everyone still supports him. He still has to overcome obstacles of becoming fully accepted as their savior.

oops, I think you meant to post that in "How NOT to make a good Superman film" threat

Luthor should be someone nobody expects as being bad, but Superman, because of his insight int into human nature.

I like the idea of a serious Bizarro. I also REALLY like the idea of a Superman "taking over" his own responsibilities. That could be cool

So...

Man of Steel 2 (Man of Tomorrow?):
Lex Luthor campaigns to rebuild Metropolis. Somewhat of a competitive move against Superman. Dropping subtle hints that it's his fault. It becomes obvious that Lex is jealous and he gets to work developing ways to combat Superman's power. With the aid of Kryptonite, Lex manages to develop the technology for Metallo which he tests on an employee John Corben. Zack Snyder caliber battle scenes ensue.

Man of Steel 3 (The Last Son of Krypton?):
Braniac (adrift in space) happens upon Earth. This version is lacking a body and collects and preserves endangered Kryptonian species, including Doomsday.

Elements that are a must have:

1) Keep Clark's adoptee angst, don't go all "the sun will come out tomorrow," people may not understand why it's a difficult obstacle - but it's grounded, Superman is the adoptee's superhero first and foremost and he must be relatable to what we (adoptees) go through rather than what the crowd wants to think we go through.

2) Do not take away time from the action, that's the wrong way of looking at it. Time-wise this film has as much action as every other superhero film. It's just people's perceptions of the amount of action because it's all saved for the end. Spread the fights out throughout the film, with the same amount of time, and no one will bring that up. If you reduce the amount of time and have it spread out - people will think that's odd, because it'll be less than they're used to.

Ways that some of the audience's problems can be fixed:

1) Introduce Jimmy Olson. They want light? They want humor? Don't all of a sudden have Superman be Annie, keep him as Oliver Twist. It also wouldn't make sense for Superman to be 100% joyful because Lex is going to, hopefully, make him question if he is one of them. Instead give all of these comedic and light moments to Jimmy Olson. He can be at the heart of the humor. Not saying don't have Clark be lighter, he's accomplished his search, so he would be - but at the same time don't rob him of his very real angst.

2) Spread the fights throughout.

The film should be about Clark trying to find his place and wondering if he truly can fit in. He's spent all his time as a nomad, it's going to be on his mind if he can shift things and just settle down. Lex also gives him second thoughts about this. This film should be about Clark fully earning the people's trusts and overcoming their fears about aliens which Lex will manipulate. Lex should have kryptonite. As for secondary villains - I'd say just Metallo, but you could have Parasite as well. Save Brainiac and Doomsday for the third film.

Comic to be inspired by: Lex Luthor. Man of Steel.

The

I prefer Superman dying in Justice League (that can allow for a 'return' storyline afterward). As for Lex, I think he should hate that Superman's stealing his thunder, and also hate his inherent goodness.

Man of Steel 2: Lex Luthor is Donald Trump.

Wait, wait, hear me out.

Luthor, unlike his real life proxy, can actually be quite brilliant and cunning. He uses the mess made by Superman and Zod's fight as an excuse to invest a BILLION in aid along with pushing government legislation through his lobbying groups to rebuild Metropolis. The people love him.

He also uses his philanthropy as an excuse to meet and try to seduce Superman. When that doesn't work, he becomes a representative of the "angry, rich old white man" population in this country. If Superman is the ultimate immigrant fantasy, then he needs to meet the ultimate nativist. One who pours money into a PR campaign to turn the public against Superman as being "Other" and a threat to Metropolis. It would not be entirely invalid considering Superman wrecked half the city himself.

He then uses this as a cover for his real Machiavellian scheme to create a being as powerful as Superman who would obey him. Whether that character should be Bizzaro or Metallo I am unsure. Personally, I preferred Metallo growing up. But narratively Bizzaro would work.

Save Darkseid for a Justice League film. And Doomsday in many ways would just mirror Bane in TDKR (at least with the breaking/"killing" of the hero) and we are too early along for that right now.

P.S. I would avoid Braniac. At least for now. He would be too much of a retread of Zod. At least if he immediately followed him. Save him for a third or fourth film.
